1. Gotta be sporadic - my clocks are all fine...PC, Netbook, Tablet, Phone - they all 'auto-update' for DST and none of them jumped.
2. This year was just the finishing touches 1: Changed out the Hook 2-4 for a Striker 7cv, transducer mounted on a Scotty arm off the mid seat. (pics on this page) 2: Look under the front seat - I added pillars to under the fore and mid seats to make the hull a little more rigid so it doesn't flex as much when I stand to cast. 3: I also cut and glued down some 1/8" roofing rubber to the 'deck' - add my rubber soled boat sandals and now it's a slip-free surface from bow to under the rear seat. 4: Second walkway on trailer was added behind the keel-roller that's just behind the fore walkway. Both fore and aft walkways were also given the rubber treatment. (fore walkway shown on this page)
3. Beginning of this thread shows a lot of what I've done...vid will be a quick overview of everything.
4. And that's just mono. Depending on how often/hard you fish - you can get a couple years from a good FC or a good Hybrid, and 4+ from a quality braid.
5. Or a Zoom Super Chunk.
6. You're still well within the warranty period - reach out to St Croix.
7. A couple of my reels are considered 'mid to low end' - Pflueger President and President XT. Getting the thumb trained is most of the battle and now I rarely have a backlash, and the ones that do happen I can fix within a couple minutes. Even the highest end reels will backlash if proper attention is lacking. Practice-practice-practice.
8. It's the 'Drop Shot Knot' - it's the one I use for drop-shots...even though there are those who prefer the Palomar.
9. Long as it doesn't end with the 'graveyards'...
10. Stick with Sufix and go with Advance Mono - you can get it direct from Rapala in 1200yd spools. https://www.rapala.com/sufix/monofilament/advance-monofilament/advance-monofilament

the-mono-that-thinks-its-a-braid<-li><-ul>/Advance+Monofilament.html
11. Same here - 70-80 yds of mainline with the rest of the spool filled with 'cheap' mono for backing. 10# Big Game on the baitcasters 6# Sufix Elite on the spinners
12. Finally - mods for this year are complete. Vid to be shot that will be an overview of everything I've done over the past three winters to turn it from a recreational canoe into a fishing machine.
13. Mike, if I had the money I'd go whole-hog...but needs must. Upgraded from a Lowrance Hook 2-4 (no GPS) to a Striker 7cv this winter. It's going to be a new experience seeing what DI and mapping (have to create my own) can do for me.
14. Another one in my list Joni Mitchell - Free Man In Paris
15. To that I reply "My bags are packed, I'm ready to go..." Course it's another 6 weeks before bass season opens here.
16. (shrugs) For me, the same MH/F rig is used for chatters, spinners, jigs and T-Rigs...don't see a need for a different rod for those.
17. Any time on the water is a good time. Me: I'll be doing the last thing needed on the canoe tomorrow...but it'll be a bit before I can get it out - the wife's PCA came down sick (not COVID) and we don't know how long it'll be before she's on her feet again...until then, it's shore-fishing and wading for me.
18. Waypoint on my map.
19. See that and raise 'You're Gonna Get Your Fingers Burned'
20. Fixed it for you. On my budget - a Sierra or Kaden would be considered a 'high end rod'...a NRX or Xtasy is completely out of the picture.
21. Except for those of use who remember 'open-face spinning reel' (spinning reel) and 'close-face spinning reel' (spincast) as being the names used in advertising.
22. Most of the big names ARE made in the USA - it's the domestic supply of PE that's the issue https://tgcanoe.com/where-are-kayaks-made/
23. It's the polyethylene shortage actually. "Weekly Resin Report: More Than 5 Billion Pounds of Resin Production Lost Because of Storm Mar 24, 2021 Despite some demand destruction, very heavy imports, and the lack of incremental exports, the PlasticsExchange predicts that it will take considerable time for producers to back-fill orders, restock inventories, lift allocations, and unwind force majeure declarations." https://www.plasticstoday.com/resin-pricing
24. First determine if it is a school of bass. Normally, a bass school will be 'loose' - a fair amount of separation between them. If it's a tightly packed group, it's more probably either a school of baitfish or panfish - so look below that or to the sides for indications of feeding bass.
