  1. Pure Fishing Inc., the world's largest fishing tackle company, today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to purchase Plano Synergy Holdings Inc. https://www.bassmaster.com/gear/pure-fishing-announces-plans-purchase-plano https://www.newsbreak.com/news/2182626350045/pure-fishing-to-purchase-plano
  2. Garmin has Livescope Humminbird has Mega 360 Lowrance has Livesight All pretty much the same. You're looking at a couple thousand to get into it...minimum.
  3. Yesterday my back yard was clear - today...
  4. Ya - this. Both spinners I'm putting braid on it's just 60-70 yds backfilled with cheap mono.
  5. One thing a braid-ready spinner should have is a bearing in the line roller. Very few 'cheap' spinners have it - using a bushing instead of a bearing. One I've found in the budget category is the Mitchell Avocet RZT (not the RZ). Aluminum spool and line-roller bearing. It's out of production as of the end of last year, but you can find them at reasonable prices. I picked up 4 at Scheels when they had them on clearance discount. They still have 2000 size available, but don't know how long. https://www.scheels.com/p/mitchell-avocet-rzt-reel/8950-1347889-BOX.html
  6. I get the regular license with a trout stamp - and even that $35 is reasonable.
  7. Y'all need to come to MN. Annual out-of-state license is $51 for individual, $68 for family...and no launch-ramp fees.
  8. Temp today hit low 50s...but...got this on my way back from picking up Chinese for dinner tonight. Since walleye, northern and bass seasons closed two weeks ago...they're most probably crappie-hunters.
  9. Most old spinning reels were left-hand retrieve...my (long lost) Mitchell 320 and Pflueger 640 were both fixed left-hand...and it was hard to find right-hand retrieve spinners. So I cast with my right and retrieved left. After getting my first BC...which was right-hand retrieve...was when I also got hold of my first switchable retrieve spinner - the Cardinal 562...and switched it to right-hand also. Now all my reels are set up for right-hand retrieve and I cast with my left - which is my stronger arm.
  10. For plastics - this was done a while ago...long list with additions
  11. Well, with luck it'll go away here. Was originally suppose to be a temporary measure...but like all things coming out of the 3-ring circus, it turned permanent. They're trying to get it removed...again.
  12. My average cast is probably about 35-40 yds on BCs, around 45-50yds for my heavier spinners (M-MH)...finesse stuff shorter. I put around 70yds of mainline on all my reels - no matter what the average cast is. Gives me enough to work with even with reties and some possible breakage with enough left on the spool so that the join-knot doesn't interfere.
  13. "Knock-knock"...Dean, you awake?
  14. Or a bunch of them will pool their money and co-rent a place. I watched one behind-the-scenes vid where 7 pros were sharing a rental-home for a tournament. KVD is the big one for this. His dad owns it, he and his brother work at it. Or guide services...'our own' James Niggemeyer guides on his home lake during the off-season.
  15. See all the stickers/patches for manufacturers on their boats/shirts/jackets? It's called 'sponsors'. They get quite a bit of their stuff at cost or even free in exchange for promoting the sponsor's goods.
  16. Agree with JB. Nice part is - BPS/Cabelas currently have Tatsu on sale - $40 for 12# or 15#...that's $10-$15 off regular price.
  17. "Kicker" - yes...I mean they sit for months in the boxes and still work. Self-generated power means they'll work no matter how long they sit...long as the circuit board doesn't deteriorate anyway.
  18. Between those two? The Maestro. The Zodias ML is only rated to 7/16oz - 3/16oz less than the 5/8oz you stated.
  19. Don't take the line ratings as the 'be-all and end-all. That's for mono/FC and doesn't relate to braid at all. I'm running 20# braid on a rod rated to 12# line and 50# braid on a rod rated to 25# line.
  20. Similar to a generator - the spinning of the spool with a minor magnet produces the minute amount of power needed to run the board...so self generated. "The Digital Control system is a waterproof, self-energizing system which is computer chip-controlled. It recharges with each cast and needs no battery or power source. During the initial moments of the cast, the energy generated by the rotation of the spool is stored in the Digital Control circuit board and powers the Digital Braking System on subsequent casts." https://fish.shimano-eu.com/content/fish/eu/gb/en/homepage/Curado-DC.html
  21. It'd be great if more did this...and published the info more clearly too. Two of the main considerations I have when purchasing a reel are line-capacity and IPT.
  22. Check with Shimano directly or go to these guys. https://www.ereplacementparts.com/shimano-parts-c-200301.html
  23. No idea - I'm not THAT much of a technophile.
  24. "As of 2021, seven states — Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Texas, Washington, and Wyoming — levy no state income tax. Two others, New Hampshire and Tennessee, don't tax earned wages. While Tennessee used to tax investment income and interest, the Hall income tax was fully repealed on Jan. 1, 2021.2 New Hampshire currently taxes investment income and interest, but it is set to eliminate those taxes soon. That will bring the number of states with no income tax to nine by 2024." https://www.investopedia.com/financial-edge/0210/7-states-with-no-income-tax.aspx
