Push In Shallow Water Anchors
Maybe, but enough torsion and aluminum will deform permanently where-as fiberglass will return to it's straight-state after bending.

And the beat goes on...
Long as you don't look past 36 hours. My dad was a Meteorologist in the Navy - he still keeps up with things, and says they're not much more accurate past that time-span than they were 64 years ago when he finished his time and was discharged.

On this day in 1990. . . .
Today, 1990 - I was working in the Telecommunications Dept. of Cargill running the monthly usage reports for the all the phones at HQ plus 32 other office locations from MA to FL, VA to CA. Was a little busy.

Video your catch?
I'm running a pair of Dragon Touch Vision 3 cameras, one on a post behind my sonar, the other was shoulder mounted last year but this year I'll be trying a head-band mount. I got a little money coming in that I might spend on a Vision 4 - advantage of that is the 4 has an external mic. The Vision 3 does a decent job - handles 128GB cards for day-long shoots. The deck mount is plugged into the 'electrical panel' I put together so runs off the main battery, the shoulder/head camera is plugged into a 10,000mAH battery in the pocket of my PFD giving it 8-9hours of run-time. The video is decent but is not stabilized. The sound level is low, but I use Handbrake (open source) to re-encode to smaller file size - recording is at 3gb per 18 minutes for 720P/30FPS - and increase the audio gain. Editing is done with VideoPad - I can cut, merge, extract, mix audio and video windows in as I want...really good for the price. This vid was shot on the Vision 3 - any still shots I've posted in the last year that have a date/time stamp on are screenshots from the Vision 3.

Canoe modification
Minor work today - earlier pic shows the 'walkway' on the trailer. That one runs from the post to the keel-roller. Today installed the second section that runs from the keel-roller back to the junction of the sections that hold the bunks. Later I'll cut some 1/4" roofing rubber and glue it to the top of both runs to give me a non-skid surface.

First Time Fishing
Not always - weightless plastics rigged as Bird showed...whether worms, craws, whatever...are a valid technique.
-
Time frame for a rigged up plastics.
Myself - I remove all plastics from lures/hooks at the end of the day. If they're still usable, they go back in the original bag...otherwise they go in the trash. I get out maybe once a week, I don't like the idea of the plastics sitting on my hooks - possibly doing damage - for that long.

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
Nope - direct tie to the split-rings...same reasons that A-Jay stated.

Bosch table saws????
I can walk into a Lowes or Home Depot and have my choice of new 10" table saws; Bosch, Dewalt, Craftsman, Delta, Rockwell, Ryobi, Kobolt. Dunno where you heard the downsize from, but it obviously hasn't hit the stores yet. The three specific models you mentioned are still for sale at Lowes in 10".

Well, I suppose it's better than chewing your fingernails.

One of the first things I do when I get a hardbait that has a split-ring at the tie-on point is change out the rings. Cranks get oval, jerks/topwaters get the pear-shaped.

I got mine set too. Added the other local boy this time around. 92-10 for the tie-breaker

Determining Direction Using Straight Sonar
The signal is sent in a cone - normally 30-degrees. So the fish that appear on 2D screen (Not DI or SI) can be anywhere in that cone - in front, to the sides or behind.

Eye friendly background - black preferable
I don't think this software has been set up with different themes...or Glenn just hasn't turned on the option.

Anyone else skunked for 2021 still?
Well, that's the only spot on 'Tonka I know that's posted as such...and back when I had a powerboat, I hit almost every acre of water the lake has...From Halsted Bay to Grays, Maxwell to Excelsior and all the 'Arms'.

Anyone else skunked for 2021 still?
Okay - I know where you're talking about. It's a small 'backwater' just south of the Narrows Channel. Hard enough for a canoe or Yak to get back in there - any power boat trying it would rip their hull. Maybe 1/2-3/4 acre in size compared to the 14,000+ acres of the whole lake.

Anyone else skunked for 2021 still?
I've lived on Phelps Island for 35 years and this is the first I've heard of a closed part of 'Tonka...got any details?

How to edit an older post?
There's a limited time-window in which to do it...I don't know exactly how long. Here's a shot of the edit button...3 dots at the top of your post.

Anyone else skunked for 2021 still?
Interpretation of the C.O. But I'd think that large spinners, chatters, buzzbaits would count. Magnum worms, punch rigs, larger swim/football jigs....quite a few things actually that a 9" Bluegill would run away from.

Anyone else skunked for 2021 still?
Ya - they're the same here. If they catch you with 'bass' lures before season, you might lose your fishing license for the year. BUT - I've caught bass on 'panfish' lures (Mepps Comets, Beetle Spins, etc) so accidental catches WILL happen...but same thing. If you're catching nothing but bass...move along-move along.

Anyone else skunked for 2021 still?
Supposedly, but the spawn happens around mid-May most years...so in practice not really...at least for the bass. Walleye are king here, and they spawn earlier, so yes...to protect the walleye spawn. Bass opener use to be end of May, but enough got on the case that C&R was started when the main opener happened.

Need sonar guru's help
I hear that - I had to scrimp and scrape to afford a non-map included, downscan unit (Striker 7cv)...a decent 9" side-scan with maps would take my entire yearly fishing budget. Livescope, 360, Mega...WAY out of my reach.

Has Anyone Installed A Kill Switch For Trolling Motor?
6&1/2 year old thread - last poster hasn't even logged on in over 2 years...

Anyone else skunked for 2021 still?
Bass, Walleye and Northern close the last day of February and open the middle of May - Bass for C&R only until Memorial Weekend when you can finally keep them if you wish.
