  1. ^ A longer tag will grab onto weeds, algae, whatever and cause interference with the lure's action because of the resulting drag.

Little hard to get the canoe on the water just yet...taken just 2 days ago.
  3. And we're gonna get brushed with it.
  4. FYI: The one in my profile pic was my best of 2019. Caught 31 July just before noon. Sometimes they do bite during the 'heat of the day' in summer.
  5. BPS still has the XT-LE on sale for $50 https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/pflueger-president-xt-limited-edition-spinning-reel
  6. Depends on how I want them to run. Slow roll, tail up which helps keep them up. Burning them, tail down so they don't rise too far.
  7. 3/8oz or 1/2oz Chatterbaits/Spinnerbaits/Swim Jigs or 5/0 weighted or weightless swimbait hooks 4.8" Eco Pro Swing Shad or 5" R.I Skinny Dipper They have different profiles so I'll switch between them to see what the bass want. 1/4oz Chatterbaits/Spinnerbaits/Swim Jigs or 3/0 weighted or weightless swimbait hooks 3.5" R.I. Little Dipper When something smaller seems to be wanted.
  8. Looks like a warmouth to me. https://gallery.nanfa.org/v/members/Olaf/sunfishesbass/9403935932_7a84e743a3_o.jpg.html?g2_imageViewsIndex=2
  9. A swim-jig head is a different shape than a football or Arky head - it has a narrower front profile. Made for coming through weeds easier.
  10. I always use crimp-connectors with a touch of solder on all connections.
  11. I've spent less than $200 for two cameras, external battery, larger capacity cards and mounts.
  12. Then I got no idea...
  13. Is the unit hooked to the same battery as the TM, or is the transducer mounted to the TM? If the former, need a rectifier circuit between the unit and the battery at the very least...second/separate battery would be better. If the latter - the TM can cause RFI to 'jumble' the signal somewhat...need to mount the transducer in a different location.
  14. Ya, I removed the hook from mine and replaced it with a carabiner that I clip grips into. The scale I use is a generic, sold under the Rapala, Booms, ReelSonar and other labels.
  15. C.G. - running through 'insane' waves is part of the job description.
  16. I would - the Shimano DC reels are also heavily recommended for light baits.
  17. Yep - the more line you reel in, the greater the total diameter becomes. Diameter is a variable that changes throughout the cast-retrieve process.
  18. It's Minnesota - it's typical weather for us in March.
  19. Ya - I've got the anchor trolley to install and some roofing rubber to lay down in the canoe. Then more Carbontex washers to cut out and line to spool up on the BCs. Busy here too.
  20. "Here kitty, kitty"? Keri, you need some new lines. LOL Good information here, Glenn - I'm still sticking with net landing though.
  21. ^ This. My old Aird-X M/F spinning rod was rated to 3/4oz so it could handle a 3/8oz jig with trailer without much issues. New addition to my arsenal for this year is an Okuma Reflections MH/F spinning rod. Rated to 1-1/4oz, it's going to be my skipping rod for 3/8oz-3/4oz jigs. Under that weight it'll be the Okuma Reflections ML/MF which is rated to 5/8oz.
  22. We got a rainy day here too - but temps in the 40s mainly. Snow to the west with up to 6" out by the SD border. Back yard is 80% clear now when 2 weeks ago it was 6"-8" deep in snow. Minnetonka still has quite a bit of ice on it - guys were out fishing on it yesterday...but maybe the rain will help speed up the melting.
  23. Ya - my 1/2 ton Silverado is equipped with the tow package...and I'd want the brakes hooked up on that rig...just in case.
  24. Youngin' - I was 4 years into my mortgage in 1990.
  25. Didn't we just have this discussion?
