A-Jay's 3rd Annual Ice Out / Open Water Countdown Thread ~
Same issue that kept me off the water last open-water season would have applied during ice-season...plus I've never enjoyed ice fishing. In other news, the melt is on - Emerald Lake - one of the Minnetonka chain...one of my shore-fishing spots.

The latest sale thread
Ya, after looking through the list that's pretty much my opinion.

A-Jay's 3rd Annual Ice Out / Open Water Countdown Thread ~
I may actually get out more often this year too. Working to arrange things with a PCA to come in maybe twice a week to 'watch' the wife while I'm out fishing. Last year I only got the canoe on the water six times...ya, 6 of a 26 week season.

Seaguar Red Label and Line Conditoner
Don't use KVD on braid, but everything else. Even made 12# YZH manageable on my Trion-35 spinning reel. I won't switch to anything else - KVD is the one.

A-Jay's 3rd Annual Ice Out / Open Water Countdown Thread ~
Just one more thing to do and the canoe is ready for the water...then just have to spool up the BCs, but I'm ready for panfish with the spinners now.

Best aftermarket mount for Garmin Echomap UHD 93sv
No, it doesn't have the swivel, but it does have the tilt-mount cradle. If you need both - Ram https://www.rammount.com/part/RAM-D-115-C

Best lure for Mostly every fish?
Bass, panfish, trout, walleye, pike - I've caught them all on Comets.

Name this lure
"I will hug it, and love it, and name it George."

Hook organization
Don't leave them in original packages. They're sorted into compartments in my BPS 370 along with the weights. Brother P-Touch labeler to label each compartment with what's in it.

How much braid on my Curado?
Backing and 1/2 the spool of braid...that's what I do with all my braid-loaded reels - even the spinners.

BASS elite at pickwick
I'm rooting for Cherry - he's the last of my picks still in the running.

Brainfarts while rigging?
I'm always sure I'm cutting the tag - just that occasionally I cut it too close and cut part of the knot itself. #one-eyed-problems

Confused about the various rod manufacturers' rod power ratings and how they correspond to one another, and also looking for a recommendation/try to decide on a medium heavy fast casting rod.
Diawa uses 'Regular' in their action too.

Anyone else "baby" their equipment?
I don't throw them around, bang them on hard surfaces, etc - but I don't 'baby' them either. They're used, but not abused. Even my 40+year old equipment is usable and probably 7.5+ in appearance across the board..

Where to buy jon boats?
Check a dealer - they might have old stock in inventory. Newer years, unless there's been a change in design, are identical to older years. 2007 Lowe 1652 2021 Lowe 1652

What is best manual fish gripper with scale in market?
Up here it's almost a requirement with Pike, Musky, Walleye, Sauger or Bowfin sometimes chasing your Bass lure.

A Cell Phone Question
I get phone calls on that for mine and I laugh. Bought it used back in '16 and even then it was 15 years old...I think the warranty expired a long time ago.

2020 and newer boats required to have cut-off switch.
Well, it's not just the DNR EOs - Tonka, at least, has county deputies cruising around too.

2020 and newer boats required to have cut-off switch.
I dunno about other states, but MN has a strong water-patrol presence. I even got 'pulled over' in my canoe one time - they were checking that I had my fishing license and that my watercraft registration was valid...have to have the ID Tag in the 'boat' in addition to the sticker on the craft at all times.

Fantasy Fishing 2021 - Official Thread
Well, two of my guys made the cut and my percentile inched up a couple more points. This is not going to be a good season for me, I can tell that now.

A Cell Phone Question
Ya, unfortunately, no matter how secure a site is - if they require an e-mail address to register/login...then someone else can peek and get it. Some sites are better protected than others, but as shown in the news over the years - no site is 'bulletproof'.

10 Million Dollar Lawsuit Filed in Obion County Central Bass Team Death
Actually - adding any type of solid to water raises the boiling point. Seawater for example. For every 29.2g (1.02oz) of salt per KG (2.2lb) of water, the boiling point is raised by 0.5c (.9f) Source: CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics

Question for Dobyn fans
Not this little gray duck. I'm perfectly happy sticking with 7'-nil rods. Just wish the Fury line had a 5-power in a 7'...might have to up to the Sierra when I'm ready to upgrade my Aird-X H/F.

Help Us Celebrate 25 Years!
Good to see BR last that long and still going strong. Lake Minnetonka - good population of bass, consistently pulls 6-7 pounders in tournaments, ranked high on BassMaster's lists. Great northern fishery.
