  1. Yum Dingers are well spoken of by several here and get good reviews elsewhere - just that Senko is 'the King'. Check Cabelas, BPS, Dick's and others. Eagle Claw Lazer and VMC are lower priced, but perfectly respectable hooks.
  2. Nothing - just how the seller wrote it out.
  3. Don't forget the sunglasses as well. Had my right eye taken out 6 years ago due to Choroidal Melanoma. Cause? Too much time in bright sunlight without eye protection.
  4. My oops - it's still two widely different materials though - so it does qualify as a 'true' co-polymer.
  5. Semi true Nylon mono lines are a mix of different nylon polymers - so yes, they're a 'co-poly' in that respect - but it's still all nylon, just different formulations. Yo-Zuri Hybrid, Izorline Co-Poly, Sufix Advance and others are a mix of nylon and fluorocarbon. How they put them together differs based on manufacturer.
  6. Ya - despite the early start to our winter, that first batch melted away. Since then we've been above average in temp and below average in snow.
  7. Talk to your state's Department of Natural Resources/Department of Fish and Game - they're the best ones to give you help.
  8. Ya - mine is a little above his price range - President XT-LE on a Fury 703SF
  9. SHHH - we're not suppose to let him know about the Bait Monkey until he's well and truly hooked here.
  10. I'm not a fan of the St Croix rods - they run lighter than others. 5/8oz max rating vs 3/4oz for the Procyon - reduces the range of lures he can toss.
  11. NO - not an Ugly Stick I had two...dumped them as soon as I could. If you're in no rush - I'd wait.
  12. If you go with the Legalis - get the D not the D-XH
  13. Prices I quoted was from Tackle Warehouse - quite a few of us shop there. I've stopped getting gear at Amazon due to lack of variety. Legalis: https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-DAIWARELLS.html?from=basres Sedona: https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-SHIMNOREEL.html?from=basres Remember - the 2500 size Rod: https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Daiwa_Procyon_Spinning_Rods/descpage-PYS.html 6'8" Medium or 7'0" Medium
  14. Oh - you can add jerkbaits and crankbaits (both 9/16oz or under) to those techniques as well. Medium power spinning is a 'do alot' rig like medium-heavy is to baitcasters...not 'do it all' - there's nothing than can do that. Read/watch videos here or on YouTube about those techniques...lots of good learning to be had.
  15. Another Minnesotan here as well - live within 'spitting distance' of Tonka...on one of the islands actually. Welcome, welcome...we need more 'Great White North' presence here. I'm sure Fry and Gim will chime in eventually.
  16. So a rig that can be used for both. Here's my suggestion for your budget - others may have other ideas I'd say a 2500 size reel on a Medium power/Fast action rod. This will let you toss wacky rigs, shakey heads, light T-Rigs, light jigs, finesse jigs, and light spinnerbaits. Reel: Diawa Legalis or Shimano Sedona - both get good reps here - $70 Rod: Diawa Procyon 6'8" medium/fast or 7'0" medium/extra-fast - $80 8#-10# test line - Sufix Advance Mono is a good pick
  17. Are you looking at spinning or baitcasting gear? What type of lures/techniques are you looking to use? There's a lot out there that's in that price range - a couple of my rigs last year and the year before would comfortably sit in there.
  18. Look at my post at the top - right after your initial one that started the topic.
  19. Especially since knots degrade over time. Since for me it's going to be at least a week before I go out again, I disassemble everything and store it away until the evening before my next trip out.
  20. I keep it fairly simple Tweezers - two types Scalpel - just in case - #12 and #20 blades in original sealed foil packs Hemostat - 2 Curved, sharp point scissors Blunt scissors Steri-Strips Gauze pads Tape Band-aids Alcohol - pads and a small spray bottle Providone Iodine - antiseptic Ibuprofen - 3-4 doses Aspirin - 3-4 doses Salt tablets Triangle bandage - can be folded into a strip for a tourniquet Space blanket - heat retention Cheap plastic poncho - for those sudden squalls The box I linked up top will hold all that with some room to spare for anything else you think you might need.
  21. There are times I love fishing slow. Toss a Ned or Drop-Shot out - watch the line while sitting back. Sometimes the cast-retrieve-cast-repeat ad nauseam just turns me off. Occasionally I'll just put a bobber and hook on, string a worm on the hook and toss it out for crappie...meditative fishing.
  22. I'm cramped for space, so it's a 'fun' time fitting my gear in Sterilite Plastic utility shelf - holds my 4 tackle bags with the boxes inside - 1.75 shelves Sterilite storage bins - 6qt - holds extra plastics (I've got bags of dupes), miscellaneous items - stacked on the .25 shelf left from bags Rods - in the corner of the room, upright Reels/Line - drawers in an Iris 6-drawer rolling cart (4 drawers)
  23. Maybe the other brands are offering them better deals. It's all about money after all.
  24. Ya - could do that...long as there's not more than 9" between the two - state regs.
