  1. Take a Q-Tip, run it around the inside of the guides. If it starts pulling fibers off, you've got a nick in that guide - and that's what's fraying the line.
  2. Myself? Scale modeling - I got something like 20 models waiting to be built Writing - no, not the 'Great American Novel' - I'm doing some fan-fiction Taking care of the wife - this is an all-year, full-time job in itself.
  3. Well - once my last rod arrives (still waiting on shipment), I'll post a pic of this coming year's arsenal. There's been a number of upgrades since last year.
  4. MH is what I use for spinners and chatters...unless they're really light like a 1/4oz.
  5. Yep - Fast is enough...only other action I have is M-MF on my two crank-rigs (1 BC and 1 Spin).
  6. BFS casting rigs. I've been spinning for at least a decade longer than I've been casting. Finesse to me is all spinning, so I'll save my money and not go for the BFS gear. Medium spinning? I can't skip with a BC worth a darn, so skipping wacky rigs, flukes or weighless T-Rigs is done on a M/F spinning rig. Speaking of skipping - added a MH/F spinning rig to the arsenal for next year so I can skip heavier stuff like jigs, spinners, chatters, etc.
  7. Ya - I don't know about your part of town, but we've had a bit of melting going on down here by the lake the last few days.
  8. I think winter is setting in - Paul's getting lazy...
  9. I'll let you know after the season starts up again in May. I got 3 cutters in a package deal a couple months ago - but season for me was already over.
  10. Things here are warmer than normal - but enough ice has formed that the east side of Black Lake (part of the Minnetonka chain) is already being used as a parking lot for the ice fishers...passed by there Sunday afternoon and there was probably 25-30 vehicles ranging from Camrys to full-size trucks parked on the ice.
  11. Could be - I just made a mark on the spool and eyeballed it. Having only one working eye might have put it off a tad.
  12. That's why I have the booney...covers the ears.
  13. Any of the top-name fishing shirts - they're lightweight, and SPF (30 or 50 - I forget which). I'm susceptible to heat, so I need something lightweight especially when it gets above 26c. These wick away moisture and help cool you. I have 3 HUK and 1 Columbia - they work great.
  14. Just remember - NoF is produced by one of our own here on the boards.
  15. Same answer I always give for the $50 range Aird-X - there's a 6'6" Medium (AIRX662MFB) and a 7'0" Medium-Heavy (AIRX702MHFB) in two-piece casting rods.
  16. Whoops - did it again. We know what you mean.
  17. Of course what he does is all dependent on one thing - what his state's regs say about transplanting fish. That's why I suggested contacting the state.
  18. Mine's 3-stage as well...sort of 1) Winter storage (see pic above) 2) Spring bagging - BPS Extreme Qualifier 3700 and Plano Z 3700 for the tackle, Cabelas and BPS Advanced Angler II Large (one each) for the plastics 3) Shore fishing - sort some stuff into 3600 boxes, Plano Weekender or one of the AA-II bags depending on how much I want to take with.
  19. Ya, my backstock is extras from giftings I've gotten. "Oh, someone sent me a bag of Cabelas Action Tails in Watermelon Red Flake...um already got a bag...into the box it goes." "Oh, they sent me 3 bags of this in the same color - 2 into the box." Etc...
  20. I do have a little backstock - 1/3 filled 6qt container on the shelf above the 'Scale Modeling' drawer units on the plastic shelving.
  21. Ya - my last check this past year there was one on my back that Heidi - my dermatologist - froze off right then and there. Get checked regularly - everywhere.
  22. Oh great - we were trying to keep the Bait Monkey distracted until the new guy was 'all in'...now you've woken the little primate and he's poised to attack.

Low light - early morning, late evening or dense clouds - Amber Bright - I have a preference for Gray, but Green is another good choice.
  24. Did a little re-org - my fishing stuff shares space with my scale modeling stuff. Pic of 'work corner' with labels - work bench to the left...pics of stuff I've posted on a white background were taken on the bench. The room itself is 7'x11' - Winter fishing gear storage, scale modeling, my computer desk and another bookcase pretty much fill it.
  25. Only 10# braid I use is on my ultra-finesse rig - and I use mono that's just a little larger, not too much 10# Sufix 832 = .008" 6# Sufix Elite = .010" No slippage yet... Rest of my braids are 20#, 40# and 50#.
