  1. My neighborhood stations are still working on breaking the $2 mark...$2.049 today.
  2. Great...now help me afford the monthly payments.
  3. 5-10 is great...not enough to keep me from controlling my canoe but enough to put a ripple on the surface.
  4. Rapalas and Storms for me - same company actually...Rapala also owns Luhr-Jensen and Teminator, though I don't own any of those. BTW: They also own Suffix and VMC
  5. Well, that doesn't start here in MN until tomorrow night...so this 'event' happened before that was instituted.
  6. NO argument here - was so impressed with my Trion-30 last year that I added a Trion-35 this year.
  7. For my MN crib "Governor Tim Walz announced a two week stay at home order for Minnesota during his 2 pm conference call today. The order begins midnight on Friday and runs through April 10." "We must take bold action to save the lives of Minnesotans. As a former Command Sergeant Major in the Army National Guard, I believe in having a plan – which is why I’m directing Minnesotans to stay at home and limit their movements to essential services. #StayHomeMN pic.twitter.com/W2TAejwnBs — Governor Tim Walz (@GovTimWalz) March 25, 2020" Yep - now it's us

  9. Last year, it was probably a dozen - of which 3 weren't dinks. Total lifetime? No idea as I've never really kept track before and we're talking over 40 years of fishing here.
  10. Happened this past Sunday - and from what I heard around the neighborhood...it was calm, everyone was polite, and the 'servers' were profusely thanked.
  11. Spinning is what you got - baitcasting is the other style of reel...this is my 'collection' - and yes, they get used. We're here to help...I'm sure others will have some more suggestions.
  12. With the lay-offs, job-halting and other things happening because of the COVID-19 drama...some people are tightening their belts. One local business decided to give them a little hand.
  13. Okay - that's the same rod I had, the reel is a close match, and the techniques I used with it are" Texas Rig - 3/8 oz or less bullet weight, 1/0 or 3/0 hook, curly-tail worms or lizards in 6" or less length Swim Jig - 3/8 oz or less, Craw/Beaver/Paddletail trailer in 4"-5" length Spinnerbait - 3/8 oz or less, same trailers as swim jig Chatterbait - 3/8 oz or less, same trailers as swim jig Crankbait - Rapala DT-4, DT-6, Rattlin' Rap 08 or under, Shad Rap 07 or under Jerkbait - Rapala Original 09 or under, Rapala Countdown 09 or under Colors - start with 2 or 3 of each - a white, shad, or chartreuse; a black/blue or other dark color; and possibly a middle color like Green Pumpkin or Canada Craw if you go with three. That'll cover a variety of techniques and the entire water column from surface to bottom. Line? I'm particularly fond of Yo-Zuri Hybrid - and I used 10# on my Trion/GX2 rig. Don't forget the KVD Line and Lure Conditioner - it really makes a difference with the Yo-Zuri. Watch YouTube videos on the Bass Resource channel about the techniques using those lures, Glenn does a great job on breaking things down - for now ignore the rod/reel/line recommendations and stick with that rig. Later as you gain experience, you can start upgrading your rod/reel combos.
  14. If his current rod is like my old GX2 - then why not concentrate on lures for now. The Optix he has matches up well with my Trion-30 - and I did quite a few different presentations on the Trion/GX2 combo.
  15. Specs on the rod? Should be printed just in front of the handle (Line and Lure weights.)
  16. Depending on the reel you have, and the specs on the rod - that's a very viable starting point. Until a couple years ago, one of my main rigs was a spinning reel on a GX2.
  17. You think they'd encourage people to take a walk in the woods as to distance themselves from others. But no, they want people closed up in tight, boring places. (I'm going a little stir crazy here - there's only so many times you can re-arrange your tackle bags)
  18. Most places are probably operating with skeleton crews and offering sales. Latest one I got notice of is AL offering the Tatula 100 for $90 - 43% off.
  19. Wife here has a depressed immune system - so we're being very careful. In case of problems...Stevens 755a 12 gauge semi-auto.
  20. Considering my current PB is 4.7# and the MN state record is 8#15oz - I think anything over 5# would qualify here.
  21. Only if I need cigs - TM powered canoe don't need gas. :)
  22. Or wait for sales - I got both my Furys for under 100. One on the TW BF sale, the other at AL when they had a 20% off sale.
  23. ^ I second the Aird-X rods. I have 4 in my arsenal and they're actually very good rods for the price.
  24. Among this group, I'm an odd-ball My prime Ned combo is a Pflueger President 20 on a Diawa Spinmatic 6'6" Ultra-Light/Fast with 4# Yo-Zuri Ya, Ultra-light for Neds My backup combo for Neds is a Pflueger President 25 on a Dobyns Fury 702SF with 8# Suffix Elite - this one is primarily my general finesse combo...normally pre-rigged with a drop-shot.
  25. Ya, I dumped MS years ago - went to Libre and haven't looked back once. Far as I can see, seems okay - would like to know the size of the spinning reels to get a more detailed look.
