  1. My reason for missing the sales? No money...
  2. Scroll in closer - shows depths - doesn't look like there's much depth change on the river. Structure...I don't know many maps that show that.
  3. Unless, like me, you have a full topper. Makes it a bit hard to do that.
  4. Here's an overview look via I-Boating. You can scroll and zoom in & out. http://fishing-app.gpsnauticalcharts.com/i-boating-fishing-web-app/fishing-marine-charts-navigation.html#12.73/43.0692/-86.1858
  5. I have three spinning rigs. Pres-25 - UL - Ned rig when I'm not after panfish or trout Avocet - ML - Drop-shot, weightless wacky, Ned Trion - M - smaller cranks & jerks, light T-Rigs (3/8 oz and less), light swim-jigs The BC rigs are for heavier/larger lures.
  6. Well, make sure those drains aren't plugged - I found that out the hard way on my old runabout. Then I think it's time for a new access-hatch cover.
  7. Frogs and WPs are all I have in my arsenal for topwaters at the present time - they get tossed on the Fuego which is loaded with 50# Power Pro.
  8. I've been retired for 3 years now myself - I enjoy puttering around the house and saving money at the same time. Course being on a fixed income - needs must.
  9. On the other hand, you can be like me. Up your game so that you can take care of even the moderately hard things. Thereby saving money that can be spent on gear. (I do the plumbing, minor electrical (install outlets, wire lights, etc) and finish-woodworking around the house...saved thousands over the years)
  10. You don't have a basement, do you. My main shut-off is in the basement...I've had to use it in the past when I replaced the water heater. And wasn't THAT a fun time since the person who did it before hard-soldered the pipes to the water heater. Cut out, solder in junctions, touch up the pin-hole leaks. Luckily my dad taught me plumbing growing up - saved hundreds on that job.
  11. Sounds like there's no drain in the splashwell/motorwell and it's building up enough to leak through the access hatch. I'd put a new drain that exits the transom to keep that water level low.
  12. The braking system isn't external, just the dial to control the magnets is external, the magnets themselves are under the side-plate. I'm not sure, but you might have broken the link between the dial and the magnets by doing that, which means you can't adjust the brakes anymore.
  13. Right off? My 1st setup. Diawa Fuego CT reel, Diawa Aird-X rod - about $165 retail. Reel comes in 3 speeds, rod comes in 3 powers (M/MH/H). For a just a bit over that $200, change out the rod for a Diawa Tatula-XT, Dobyns Fury or St Croix Bass-X.
  14. I wouldn't go with the cheap ones. Get a good pair of curved forceps. The 9" Rochester-Pean should handle just about anything you need them for, and they'll last.
  15. Your second statement is true - the turnover does distribute O2 evenly though the water column, but the oxygen rich water before turnover is above the thermocline. The depths are oxygen staved. <- Aquatic Biology major in college.
  16. It's illegal in MN to chum, use baitcloud or use any part of a fish or a whole fish not labeled as 'minnow'. Different states have different regs.
  17. I leave my add-blocker up...I've got the login page bookmarked.
  18. x2 on the Aird-X rods...I have 3 and have been pleased by all.
  19. Go in the mornings on weekdays. I usually hit the ramp about 7:45-8:00 and at most there's one in front of me.
  20. Well, I'm only going out once a week...if that often, so doing the checklist on a trip-return basis doesn't work for me.
  21. Spritzing KVD on my spools is part of my 'night before a trip' checklist. I have a full checklist in Evernote that I reference...my near-60 year old brain needs the help. ?
  22. I give my reels a spritz the night before going out...same time I plug the battery to the charger. No big deal.
  23. You are...my last two outings totaling 8 hours on the water produced zero Bass. My outing prior to those was 4 hours for one Bass. I'd just like to catch a few.
  24. Since my primary 'drive' on the canoe is a MinnKota C2-30, I can confirm this. I go through weed-beds that have lily pads, hydrilla and milfoil in abundance, and my prop stays clear.
  25. Thank you Mr. Fry - I'll have to try that my next outing...which will probably be next week.
