  1. If we're going TV - then "The Long Game" - Dr Who (Chris Eccleston) I'm a Trekkie - but I'm also a Whovian 851 Episodes - 1 TV Movie - plus two main spinoffs. Torchwood (41 episodes) and Sarah Jane Adventures (53 Episodes). Been on the air with a couple breaks for 56 years.
  2. Bite your tongue! I want open water year round - though like you I live in the wrong part of the country for that.
  3. My PP 50# and PP 20# do what I want them to - if the diameter is a couple 10-thousands off what it says, no big deal as I can still spool enough for my needs. Who cares if it's 5-10 yds short of what the 'optimum' diameter would be.
  4. I've had hooks straighten out on a JB from a good size pike - but the split ring wasn't even deformed.
  5. Ya - retired 3 years now and busy every day...my 'boss'? The Wife
  6. I'll double down on that 336 - when I was deer-hunting in the woods of northern MN, that was my choice...though mine was in .30-.30
  7. I have to agree with my two compatriots - that definitely looks like a Bowfin.
  8. I can't find it on Rapala's site either - but Amazon has them https://www.amazon.com/s?k=X-Rap+Peto&i=sporting&ref=nb_sb_noss
  9. Well, this forum is a lot more specialized than many others...so less chatting occurs. I've seen forums that get 10-15 posts a day - so this one isn't 'fossilized'. I think it's more 'boredom factor'. Many of these questions have occurred so often that people just point you to two places - Articles that go into the nuts and bolts, or previous threads that already hashed out most...if not all...the questions. It's not 'downtalking' IMO to point someone to where the question asked has already been answered.
  10. JB - Jerkbait (floating Rapala as an example) CB - Crankbait (Shad Rap as an example)
  11. I just keep associating Quantum with Zebco as they're both owned by the same parent corp...and I never had good luck with Zebco.
  12. Set the hook faster - otherwise invest in a pair of these
  13. Well, in some cases it's close enough Abu, Berkley, Fenwick, Johnson, Mitchell, Penn, Pflueger, Shakespeare, Spiderwire, Stren - All owned by Pure Fishing. Rapala, Storm, VMC, Suffix, Luhr Jensen, Blue Fox - All owned by Rapala.
  14. Probably - because in the contracts they require the sponsored pro to use their gear. If he's using something else camouflaged as their equipment - he's in breach of contract and can lose not only the sponsorship, but have to refund paid money under a penalty clause. Then of course is the 'Mike Long' effect added to that when it goes public.
  15. Stay warm Don't injure myself shoveling snow Couple more mods to the canoe
  16. Reverse image search in Google resulted in "Megabass Ito Vision 110+1" https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Megabass_Ito_Vision_1101_Jerkbaits/descpage-MBIV11.html
  17. A way to fish them faster without causing them to burn across the surface is to put a split-shot or two about 8-10" in front of the spinner. That way you can reel them in faster, trigger more reaction bites, and not have them skipping the surface. The split-shots keep the spinner down and being that far in front of it, doesn't affect the action.
  18. Quite a few of the Rapalas come in Perch - Original Floating, Shad Rap, DT, Jointed Shallow Shad Rap just to name a few. Range of actions/techniques. Some might look at other manufacturers, but I've been a Rapala guy since the 70s.
  19. You can add trout to that list. I've caught numerous Rainbows on #0 and #1 Dressed-Aglias and Comets.
  20. Isn't that what the wife is for? Wait...what?
  21. For those who want to custom mount them - using the old mounting hardware. Drill the holes VERY SLOWLY - it's very easy to punch through if you're not careful. We had to take extra care when tapping the holes for mounting screws - it was very easy for the tap to strip the hole.
  22. I've got two Pflueger spinners and they're both well built, smooth and seemingly rugged. I'd go with the President myself.
