Why arent more reels like this(Quantum smoke s3)
As well as dropping all but the Monarch and President XT from their baitcasting line....which is a shame as my Patriarchs are excellent reels despite being years old. And they've severely cut the number of Mitchell reels as well....their Avocet line was also a good reel (I have 4 Avocet RZTs)

Kayak Koz and the Lake Fork Adventure
Good luck in the tourney, man...and be safe out there. What is that? A cut-rate Denny's?

Why arent more reels like this(Quantum smoke s3)
With Abu it's more the parent company trying to bite off more than it can chew and lacking enough funds for proper marketing of all the brands. Current brands owned by Pure Fishing (as of 9/29/2024): Abu Garcia, Berkley, Chub, Fenwick, Fin-Nor, Frabill, Greys, Hardy, Hodgman, Johnson, JRC, Mitchell, Penn, Pflueger, Plano, Savage Gear, Shakespeare, Spiderwire, Stren, Ugly Stik, Van Staal Talk with Rather Outdoors - they acquired the Quantum brand as well as Zebco a few years ago, They also own Strike King and Lews.

No, but FryDog has praised them, and having met Chris face-to-face a couple times and chatted, I trust his opinion.

B-Tard - I was being tempted by a Phenix Feather and now you drop this on me? You're taking bribes from the Bait-Monkey, aren't you....

Plano 3700
^ PD - Same with the ProLatch 3701 - I've got a quart-sized ziplock stuffed full of spare dividers as well as 6 'strips' uncut from all the extras they include.
-
Plano 3700
I've sent e-mails to Plano, Bass Pro and Fleet Farm (they also have their own box) and everyone says that they do not sell dividers. It's strange that the 3700s come with a low number where-as the 3701s come with an excess number. I'm pretty sure that everyplace has Plano make their boxes - the Bass Pro and Fleet Farm boxes have their own logos on them, but are marked 'Made by Plano' on them.

Budget friendly bow depth finder recommendations
Garmin Striker 7" CV gives you 2D and Downscan for just over $400 - I've had this unit for a couple years now and it's a good, basic unit. With the map-making software, you can create a GPS linked map of any lake you cruise over. SV currently on sale for $499 on Amazon adds Sidescan to that.

High Speed Reels
I find that my 8.3 for pitching/punching and my 8.1 for frogs is plenty fast....any faster and I'd get dizzy.
-
Shakey head weights
Since I use shakey primarily as a finesse presentation, my weights are 1/8, 3/16 and 1/4.

FISHMAS 2024
I think you sent it to the wrong person - Deak gets them...not me. 🙃

I just checked - WI is a little more open than MN for bait "Fish other than minnows may be used as bait. Typically, bluegills and perch are used in this fashion." https://dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/Fishing/questions/fishasbait.html There are some restrictions, but you can use some panfish for bait while we can't.

Pull the trigger on bass boat
Mine's big enough, but how it's placed means I have to manually put the boat in with a trailer dolly. I think this winter I'm going to cobble together a powered dolly....I'm getting too old to push even my little 14' around.

That's the Magforce-Z - it's also on the Tatula CT and any reel higher than that (Tatula, etc) that doesn't specifically state that it's an SV reel. But SV is just a modification of the Magforce-Z so it's pretty much the same.

Ice fishing we're allowed 2 setups....most go with a tip-up and a jigging rod. Open water, we're limited to 1 'wet' rod at a time.

And maintain - that's sometimes the biggest problem.

You must learn to practice patience, young Padawan. There are times I just love tossing out a bobber/jig with a bit of plastic on the hook and lean back, enjoying the quiet while keeping an eye on that bobber. It's very relaxing. Just like a drop-shot...toss it out, keep it semi-taunt and wait for that tap...I kinda get into a Zen state...again, very relaxing.

Ya - but as Gim pointed out, it's illegal here. Anything MN-DNR classifies as a 'game fish' cannot be used, alive or dead - whole or cut up, as bait...that includes all the panfish species. So we're limited to what's labeled as 'minnows'...though that does include some pretty large fish as the Golden Shiner can hit 12" and the White Sucker can reach 20".

Daiwa and Pflueger. My Patriarchs with dual braking are still my favorites, though my Supreme XT with Centrifugal isn't bad.

jump starting your boat engine?
I have one of those too...if I'm wearing the camera shoulder rig or chest rig, it's connected to power the camera.
-
Sentimental rods/reels?
I forget the rod, cause I think it lasted 3-4 rods....but the reel was a Mitchell Garcia 320.
