  1. Good thoughts for your dad, Glenn.
  2. I did the canoe thing up north but down here when I tried it, it was too much trouble given the high traffic volume on my lakes. So I went and built Bass Trek starting with an old 3-seat fishing boat. My canoe was pretty tricked out too.
  3. I'm still sold on Cals - a little applied with a brush to the gears and my reels are super-smooth and quiet....even my 'cheap' Daiwa Bass-X and Pflueger President XT reels work great after a clean and re-lube. "Run away - run away bravely" A good yearly service should take at least 1/2 an hour...least that's about what it takes me per reel.

I would - when he refused to even step on stage during a weigh in, I lost all respect for him.
  5. Reminds me of winter camping. We had a perk-pot that you'd set in the fire to make coffee. One time we filled it a little too much so the grounds were sitting in the water. By the time it started perking, the coffee was done, and we let it perk for another 1/2 hour. That coffee was strong enough to knock over a bull elephant, but it was hot and we were cold.....
  6. It's here.......waiting for Yule to open it....
  7. I've used SuperBraid and find it pretty close to 832 in performance. Frankly, if I hadn't labeled the reels, I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference between the 10#832 and 10# SuperBraid - both in Hi-Vis Yellow.

Agree with Gim - I'm 6'1" and 210....my ideal is around 195, but I've a slimmer build than average. The ankle issue has prevented me from a lot of the exercise I usually get - hence the slight overweight condition I'm now in. Check with a doc to see what your idea weight should be - it's not the same for everyone who's six-foot-nil.
  9. ^ Everything Bulldog says about spinning is correct. I've never had issues with line-twist or wind-knots using light braid on my spinning gear.

I usually eat enough meat to get my needed protein, but I'll occasionally add some with one of these....they use whey and soy protein in them. There's more flavors, but these are the three I like.
  11. My recipient should have theirs on Friday.
  12. If bass Trek isn't on the water (or on it's way to/from the water) my NOCO Genius 5x2 is plugged in maintaining my two AGMs 24x7. It'll automatically shut down to prevent over-charging, and only come on as needed to top-off....maybe twice a month during the winter in the garage.
  13. Got notice that mine has a tracking number and will go out tomorrow (probably). 2-4 days for it to be in the hands of my picked person.
  14. Just placed the order for my vict....err....recipient. We'll see how long it takes, but the seller usually gets things out pretty fast, so I've got good hopes it'll be there for Yule.
  15. Tank will probably do a better job of it than you have. I'm going for April 22 for Lake Minnetonka.
  16. I don't even know if my Silverado HAS a plug in heater - never needed it even though it's parked outside open to everything. Even after sitting through the -6 low/+5 high of Thursday then the -4 low Thursday night, when I went to start it yesterday (+10 at the time) it growled a little then kicked off. So no heater for me...not needed.
  17. I use trailers on both. Spinnerbaits get a bulkier trailer - my favorite is a Berkley Pit Boss...avatar bass was caught on a spinnerbait with a pit boss trailer. Chatterbaits get a slimmer profile - soft swimbaits like a Zoom Boot Tail or RI Little/Skinny Dipper
  18. Nice work there Andy - like I say, going DIY is sometimes your best option. Though I mourn the loss of all those wonderful split-grip rods. #splitgripforever
  19. Trade ya..."Sunny and cold, with a high near 5. Wind chill values as low as -22."
  20. I'd suspect that it's near or past Delano - there's some crazy folks out that way.
  21. What ice there is could be in danger over the weekend here NWS Forecast Saturday Mostly sunny, with a high near 40. South southwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Saturday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 31. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Sunday Partly sunny, with a high near 43. South southwest wind around 5 mph.
  22. This one was also put out by the DNR - I like it better cause of the couple of additions.
  23. Or secure a rod between two uprights and hang them off that....cobbled together these for my jig painting....one in front goes in the oven for hardening, one in back is the cooling rack - just some bent 10 gauge steel wire. My heat source is an arts&crafts embossing heat gun - about $20 from Michaels, JoAnns, Dick Blick, etc.
  24. First Nations people knew to check the ice for proper conditions before risking themselves out on it....these morons see a locked-in body of water and go "Oh good, it's frozen over, now we can ice-fish. Nevermind that the ice is probably 1/2" or less thick.
