  1. Thats awesome!
  2. I too, have 'barred the spool' a few times. Only memories I have of doing it however is when a bigger fish has been close to the boat. It has made sense in my head to do so each time, so I've followed through and have been pretty happy thus far.
  3. MVL- 4" green pumpkin rage bug, Texas rigged. ROY- 3" green pumpkin rage bug, Texas rigged. I really like the look of that Goby plastic. Love that the tails are already 'up.' Seen a few of your videos that have had me wishing I had a bag or two....or 10

It's certainly my lure of the year. Rage bug in some variation or size has accounted for 75% of the fish i've landed in 2020. Fantastic lure. I should call strike king and see if they'll sell them to me in bulk? lol

4" Rage bug in Green pumpkin. Texas rig with 1/4oz weight and a 4/0 extra wide gap hook. I'll usually touch the tails with a spike it pen if i'm feeling fancy.
  6. I'm in the market for nearly the exact same setup! Getting ready to purchase a 7' medium Daiwa Aird x and probably a sienna 2500.....Will report back! Good luck!
  7. Welcome! See you on the James!
  8. I took note of that as well! He looked like he has fought a fish a time or two! Thanks for sharing the video.
  9. I do something similar to this. When a fish does take it deep (typically on a weightless Senko for me?‍♂️) Ill just go ahead and cut the hook using a pair of klein side cutting pliers. Once the hook is cut, Ill then take a pair of needle nose pliers or hemostats if the fish is smaller, and then turn the hook barb side up and slide it right out. Sacrificing a hook, but not sacrificing a fish. Curious to see of their are better methods...

    Thats awesome!!!
  11. I know what i'm using this weekend...
  12. Might not be a true 'classic' but this song is worth sharing.
  13. Ironically enough, Its the exact opposite for me. Winter has been a dreaded time for me simply because I don't know how to fish! Any tips, advice or possibly threads about winter fishing tactics would be greatly appreciated!!
  14. That was awesome! that little girl asked him at the end "could I hold it?" he replied quickly, "no."?
  15. I'm a low & slow kind of fella. I'll fish the same good looking laydown for wayyyyyy to long haha
  16. Indeed I did @Teal Brand new 2020 tracker grizzly all weld 1648 side console with a 40hp mercury 4-stroke. The motor has run like a top since the first day I got it out on the water, until yesterday. The trolling motor batteries died on me during the second hour of fishing. No longer holding a charge. Went to fire up the out board to drive to the next spot since I couldn't troll and when I did, I no longer had a neutral position. As soon as I turned on the motor, the prop would spin. I could go in forward and reverse, just not idle in neutral. Dropping the boat off at Cabela's where it was purchased, tomorrow afternoon to be looked at and repaired. Also looking at a used 24v 80lb fortrex to replace the 12v edge that I'm running right now.
  17. Thanks for all of the replies fellas! My apologies for the late response. I've looked at just about every rod recommended online and can't thank you guys enough for the recommendations. Sadly, my trolling motor and batteries just took a crap so the rod will be put on the back burner for a little bit...Whenever I do pull the trigger on something nice, I'll post back here with what I decided on!
  18. Getting ready to pull the trigger on a used 24v 80lb thrust fortrex for my 1648 tracker. I need two new batteries and would like a quality charger to maintain them properly. Any recommendations?! Thanks!
  19. I'm looking to purchase a higher quality rod. The most I would feel comfortable spending on a lone rod would be right around $250.00 USD. That's not to say the rod has to cost that much. If you think a rod that costs $100.00 will deliver on most of the criteria, please share! The main features that i'm looking for in a rod are that it's lightweight, sensitive and comfortable. The one rod that I own that comes close to delivering on these features is a Lew's TP-1 black, 6'-10", medium heavy, moderate fast. I've enjoyed the winn grips and the length. The action has been great for things like Texas rigs, and jigs (1/4 oz - 3/8 oz). I love throwing other things like spinner baits, square bills, chatter baits, whopper ploppers, buzz baits and many others on this rod, however it mainly gets used for bottom contact presentations such as the Texas rig and jigs due to the fact that it's the most sensitive rod I own. Sadly, the lew's rod is out of commission due to a cracked eyelet, and is waiting for repair. I've been looking at St. Croix rods a fair amount. Partly due to the fact I can go into my Local sporting goods store ( Green Top ) and check them out first hand. Another reason I've been considering St. Croix is that their warranty seems to be fairly good and a warranty is another thing I'd like a rod to have. If you have any experience with St. Croix's warranty, or a positive experience with any rod manufacturer, I'd love to hear about it! I'm open to any manufacturer, truthfully. I'm merely looking for some of the many experienced based recommendations that i'm used to seeing on this forum? I would imagine there are countless threads about this topic already, however I honestly struggle with the search feature on this site. What's on more rod thread going to hurt...?‍♂️
  20. Winter time and catching fish just don't seem to go together for me lol. Grubs are most certainly going to be added to my arsenal this upcoming cold water season.
  21. I've typically used them for trailers on things like spinner baits and beetle spins. This morning I've got a 2 1/2" green pumpkin single tail grub Texas rigged on a 1/0 ewg following a pegged 1/8 oz weight. I put a little dab of chartreuse spike it on the tail as well. Haven't fished them this way before so we'll see! Lol I feel like it should be a killer bait.
  22. Ive got a 2010 tacoma, V6, 4x4 off road edition. The tacoma tows my tracker grizzly 1648 like a champ. Good luck!
  23. Sadly I can't chime in on a suggestion to help the plastic restoration, but I'd sure love to see a pic or two of some of those older plastics if you feel like posting one! Good luck @Mobasser
  24. I too have a Sienna 1000 size reel. Its treated me quite well so far and landed some respectable fish, including a 4lb grinnel/bowfin/whatever folks in your region call them. I've only had it for going on a year and feel the $30 I paid for it was well spent!
  25. Loving my Aird-x rods. Currently I have three so far. One 7' ML spinning that I use for drop shot and lighter finesse techniques, and (2) 7' medium casting rods. I've got a dedicated 13 fishing "crank bait" rod....but as soon as I threw a square bill on the 7' medium Aird-x, there's no going back for me for at least a little while lol. Looking forward to expanding my lineup of aird-x rods!
