  1. I also have the 705cb. Mainly used for small topwaters.
  2. If your lake has stripers, it could be stripers "slurping." They go in one direction and if you throw a lure right at them, they'll spook go under to reappear somewhere else in the general area. From a distance it looks like a miniature wave. For me, I use walk the dog topwater lures to catch them.
  3. I made one out of a telescoping boat hook. I added a pad eye, grinded the end down so it's completely pointed. Also added some epoxy so the end doesn't come off.
  4. I stopped using buzzbaits when the whopper plopper took off. When I did, I used them stock or with a grub or minnow.
  5. 5 inch Senko in motor oil.
  6. Refund it and get the crush combo for $100 on amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Lews-Crush-Speed-Spool-Combo/dp/B0751B8NS2/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1542912118&sr=8-3&keywords=lews%2Bcrush&th=1
  7. I've been using the Okuma Stratus V from DSG with no issues. They are lighter and smoother than the sienna. Can't say how long it'll last but these sienna are 5+ years and still going. I just wanted something lighter.
  8. Lew's Mach Crush Combo $100 on Amazon
  9. try mounting zip ties, $2.50 at home depot. 8 in. UV Mounting Tie - Black (10-Pack)
  10. I have the same lure. Like all the users above have said, it's a size 6 vmc. I use VMC 9650 from janns netcraft. They're $5 for 25 (add shipping). I have used a size up but in a short shank (#4 VMC 9651), stick with the 6. VMC 9650
  11. 2nd on the fuego ct. Wait til there is a coupon, you can get it for about $55.
  12. ^What Russ said. Fill your spool with mono, then add your braid. This way if you ever have cut your braid off, you just cut the 100 yards and add new line versus cutting the line and keep fishing with the spool only half filled.
  13. My first BC was a Shimano Curado CU-201. It just felt more natural to me. I have a fishing buddy who is right handed, he insist to use right handed reels. It's almost 2 years now, he still can't master the walk the dog technique. LOL
  14. Get the SLX if you are using it for specific reason. Get the Casitas if you like to adjust on the fly. I already have a Casitas but will pick up a SLX to play with when they have the lefty available.
  15. 20lb braid but don't fill the whole reel with it. Just do like 100 yards of it. For mono, I'd use 12lb trilene big game.
  16. I would stay away from the PQ 2.0 casting reel. It's not as good as the original. I'm not sure about the rod, don't have any experience with it. I did have a Gen4 revo x and sx, sold both on CL a few weeks after buying it. I thought they would fish better than lews. I have since replaced my lews with fuego ct.
  17. It'll work fine. I use a Lews MHAPC with 30# braid throwing the same ploppers.
  18. IIRC that Ike rod is a modfast tip (correct me if im wrong). It should sling 1/2 oz lures farther than a MH/F rod considering all things equal.
  19. Sufix Performance 1200-Yards Braid Line $33 amazon I use this line for casting trout lures. Sure, there's better lines out there but not for this price.
  20. Go with the MB. I have the MB and the Mach II. The MachII is like a toy compared to the MB. It just feels cheap and fragile. Hell, the drag is already gone on the machII and I've used it less than 2 years.
  21. Don't get too worked up from the numbers. I have Lews Mach II (im8), Carbon Fire GT (im6), and Mach Speed (im6). I really can't tell the difference, except "maybe" the im8 is lighter.
  22. wrap it with a rubber band, twist it off.
  23. fav: Fenwick HMG 6'6" with RTX 30 beater: lightning shock (new version) 6'6" M with okuma stratus 25
