  1. haha. Live in South Ga too and been catching them on buzzbait, spinnerbait and frog. Likely just a bad day. With the rain we recently got the stain in the water can make it more difficult for them to locate baits. It happens man.
  2. All depends on price. I recommend a 7'1 MH or 7'1 Heavy Phenix Feather. Depending on the cover you fish. I frog a lot of river systems in the summer fishing overhangs where the cover isn't too heavy and can throw a 1/4 oz frog on a lighter rod. However, if near moderate/heavy cover I would opt for a more powerful rod. If near light isolated cover, 7'1 MH Phenix Feather, if around a touch heavier 7'1 H Phenix Feather is perfect. The 7'1 is what I would deem a MH+. Phenix power ratings are noticeable lighter when compared to other companies such as St Croix, Shimano, Daiwa, etc. Other good choices would be a 7' MH Shimano SLX, 7'1 MH FX Xtreme. All depends on price and cover.
  3. I like the 894C JWR GLX as well. I find it to balance a bit better
  4. It has to do with the way the rod loads. If the rod isn't loading then the casting performance will suffer.
  5. I recommend a rod that is more designed for 1.0 and 1.5 squarebills. The Expride 7'0 M Glass or another Dobyns such as the 704CB would be fantastic. I owe the 705CB and the rod IMO is better closer to 3/8-1/2. I only use it for lipless and bigger squarebills.
  6. Would have gone Metanium. But the Chronarch MGL is a great reel
  7. The new Launcher does not come apart at the handle like the previous generation. But yes, the new Launcher does have more power than the previous generation. The new Launcher is very impressive.
  8. Setups look really good. I think others provided great input. I would recommend adding a cranking rod for those shallow crank baits that are on the lower end of the spectrum for the 705CB. Then adding a 7-7'6 H. Other than that, your setups look sweet!! You have some quality equipment. Regardless of how many rods us fisherman have, we always need more rod lol. My wife tells me no more, but I always manage to sneak just one more lol ?
  9. What price range? I will try and list a few across price ranges. How big of A-rigs? Hammer 7'6 Swimbait Phenix 766 or 796 Recon Elite Dobyns Fury 795 Mojo Bass 7'10 H Swimbait
  10. Johnson Outdoors is inferior IMO to Lowrance and Garmin. I live 20-30 miles away and they have nothing but problems. Went Garmin and much happier. Lowrance is great too. I had Hummingbird Helix and Minn Kota Ultrex trolling motor for 2 weeks and think my Garmin 126 Ultra and Force is WAY superior
  11. Tough as they are sweet! Comes down to which taper you prefer. You can't go wrong.
  12. I would consider contacting Shimano/G Loomis and get your money back from your CC company if it turns out to be fake. Contact them and double check as I've seen demos from G Loomis and that is not what I've encountered in terms of appearance. Hope for the best for you buddy.
  13. While his style and technique is what we all deem textbook there is no correct way to cast. The correct way is what works for that given individual as we all vary in shape, proportions, range of motion, etc. You see this a lot in analyzing golf swings as well. There are golfers like Jim Furyk that have a horrendously ugly swing but if that results in winning tournaments and making millions then it's good enough for me haha
  14. Better going with the FI much better reel for a fraction more.
  15. The Sahara FI is already out. The FE is the last generation reel.
  16. IMO the Expride is a superior rod to the IMX. IMO. Both are nice though
  17. I agree. There is no need for 4 brakes. While there are some people and circumstances where more braking is necessary, you will not achieve optimal performance with any reels with all brakes when compared to less braking. It common sense in that more braking (with all else equal) contributes to less overruns but less distance. While it may be better for you, it may not be for everyone else. I know a ton of people who use reels without any braking.
