Flat fishing a rapala
Watch some of these wildlife cop shows on tv and you’ll quickly realize why their are regulations in some states. People suck Mississippi doesn’t have any laws on numbers of rods or hooks used. Crappie fisherman routinely have a dozen spider rigs with each containing 2 or 3 hooks at different depths. You can also fish an Alabama rig with as many hooks as you want. However we do not have any protected freshwater species.

Releasing and thumbing the spool while fighting fish
I’ve done this a few times in the past out of panic. Today I trust my equipment and just loosen the drag mid fight if needed

Best walk the dog lures?
I wouldn’t get too hung up on colors. Just get one light and dark. Sound is a different story. Silent, rattle, or one knocker may work better on a given day. I’d focus more on obtaining a few different sounds than color. My $0.02. Spooks have never let me down. Just change the hooks. Those Heddon stock trebles are a rust liability.

Spinnerbaits: closed eye vs R bend
Wasn’t Lonnie the first to create jigs and spinnerbaits with interchangeable skirts? His spinnerbaits have landed a bunch of nice fish for me. I’ve tried other brands but nothing compares

Tube Question
I haven’t purchased tubes in a long time. In fact it’s probably been 15-20 year. I ran out of my stash last winter so I need to purchase more. But my question is who makes a good thin walled tube today? I never cared for the thicker plastic tubes like the old Denny Bauer SK ones. My favorite ones were so thin that they were almost flimsy but they produced and my hook up ratio was great. I’ve had them in a Plano box so I can’t recall who made them. I can’t fish exposed hooks down here so I Texas rig them making a thin plastic very important since I use a thin wire 3/0 hook Any good suggestions?

Spinnerbaits: closed eye vs R bend
R bend 100%. A closed eye tends to eat the line causing you to retie often or risk line failure. Also a closed eye is harder to tune when the arms get bent.

Looking for a new pitchin rod...
Buy one and youll regret it. You’ll end up with multiple head turners like the rest of us victims Ive never handled the Low Rider HT but the Expert HT has a faster action than the Cara. I would expect the LR to mimic the Expert. Personally I prefer the action of the Expert over the Cara but will be very interested to see what the new Cara is like this winter.

Anyone else stumped?

Rod or reel what is more important?
Depends. Worm/jig? Rod wins. Spinnerbait/swim jig/chatterbait/etc? Reel barely edges out the rod Crankbait? Tie Also you have to consider the conditions. When you find yourself in 20 mph head winds you will quickly appreciate a nice reel. With that being said the amount of reel you can get for $100 today is incredible. There’s a lot more value in reels than rods today

Looking for a new pitchin rod...
Low Rider would work for lighter weights. 1/4, 3/8. It has a moderate fast action. I know in the expert line there is a 6’11 heavy fast action that I believe is a listed as a frog rod but a lot of folks use it for pitching jigs. It’d likely be a better option. I love my Experts. I paid around $175-$180 for all of mine Dobyns Champion also has a 6’10 4 power that would be perfect. If you check out their website you can find refurbished rods in your price range.

Thoughts on Stratos
My dad sold a ‘06 268 earlier this year. It was a decent boat. Really the only negative was the lack of storage mainly no rod locker. But I think it was only a 17’ Hull. It had a 115 Johnson that ran about 40 wide open. It could be a pain to crank at times

How Often To Use Line Conditioner on Fluorocarbon
The only line I’ve personally used that absolutely required conditioner was 20lb Abrazx. That stuff is a nightmare without it.

Best way to ship a rod
If length plus girth is less than 108” you can ship it USPS priority and save some $$$. Last few I’ve shipped for around $12 plus whatever the cost of insurance (you get $50 insurance free). FedEx or UPS cost around $35
