Help me diagnosis this reel issue please.
First guess would be the main gear has debris or some issue with the teeth

Line conditioner
I have 20 pound Flouro on several reels and they would be useless without KVD conditioner. I don’t typically use it on anything else though.

Fishing hot...real hot
Agreed. When I lived in north MS it was the hottest and coldest place on earth. Scorched all summer and was 20 degrees with 20 mph wind all Winter

Wake cranks
I’ve been slaying bass on wake cranks for decades now. Actually caught a slew just the other evening on a strike king. I have one Mann’s that has accounted for well over 100 bass and a finger. Bomber used to make one that was really fat and was killer some days. I haven’t bought one in years so idk what the current market looks like

Fishing hot...real hot
Feel like it’s been cooler here in Mississippi than most years. Not by much but it’s been around 90 most of last month. I can recall plenty of years where the high was 97-99 fro. June 1 to September. The heat has never bothered me though. Humidity can be killer some days

Duckett Jacob Wheeler rods
There are several really nice, proven rods in that price range. What are you using the rod for? I’m not saying duckett rods are bad but I’d never spend my money on one

SLX XT vs Daiwa Tatula CT
The most noticeable difference between the two is size. The CT has a larger frame and the SLX is tiny. The Tatula 100 is about the same size as the SLX.

Wow. Bad time to need to restock on baits.
One academy by me still has a decent stock. Probably 70% full. The other is absolutely bare. I’d say less than 10% full. I don’t know why one is worse off than the other. They are literally 10 miles apart

Wheeler
What Wheeler and JLee have accomplished before their 30th birthday is pretty amazing. DeFoe is under 35. Those 3 still have many years of fishing in their tank and will go on to win many trophies. But make no mistakes there will be younger anglers coming up that challenge and beat them. Resources and electronics are so advanced today that these kids turning pro at 21 are way ahead of the game

Dobyns Champion 683 or Falcon Head Turner. Both with Tatula SV.

Falcon Rod Bucoo SR Bait Casting Rod
The 6’10” may have enough power but you will definitely be limited to smaller light wire hooks. An 1/8 oz weight and 3/0 would prob be the absolute max. They make a 6’10 Heavy fast that would be much more suitable

New Daiwa Tatula SV TW
This. I’ve been fishing with the new one for several months now. The older model feels more high end but the new one is much nicer to cast all day. Performance wise I can’t tell a difference

Jumping ship?
Who knows but the event was in Cristies backyard. Why not fish it

Daiwa Knobs Too Thin
You could also buy some of those aftermarket grips you slide over the top of the knobs

What is your Chatterbait Set Up? Anything I am doing wrong?
I think you’ll find the Flouro will land more fish with that rod since it has a little more give and stretch than braid. Braid is popular with chatterbaits but most are pairing it up with moderate action or glass rods. The pinned weight on a jig head is typically going to work against you. The hook is inside the mouth and the weight is usually outside the mouth so if at any point there is slack in the line the weight of the jig head will push the hook out. So ultimately the name of the game is reduce slack. The right rod and line combo will help but unfortunately their isn’t a textbook answer. Try different setups and see what works for you. And try your best to keep the fish under the surface

Can’t say I’ve seen that charger location before.

Ever been pleasantly surprised?
The quantum Icon Pt is another sub $50 reel that is an absolute steal. Sure it’s not pretty, has weird EVA knobs, and comes out of the package weighing nearly 8 ounces but it’s a casting machine and very smooth. It has no problem muscling a 4lb fish out of grass either. Aluminum frame, brass gears, supported pinion. It’s a keeper
