  1. At the time of the post Dobyns was running 40% off everything
  2. I was basically the same at 30. Now I’m 32 with a baby and can count the number of beers I’ve had in last 3 months on one finger. Life comes at you fast. Live it up
  3. I was pushing a jon boat in one day and cake face to face with a 4 ft copperhead. Our heads were probably one three feet apart. Have had several other close encounters with mr no shoulders Almost got sunk by a wake boat Saturday. Those things should be outlawed up river where you have nowhere to go. The waves were easily 4 feet tall and nearly submerged my bow
  4. It likely changes by location but try to get into the $22-23k range if at all possible. After looking at boats in the $15-20k range for over a year I found the difference in quality over $3k was well worth it.
  5. I use the 72H for frogs but I don’t throw frogs enough for a dedicated setup. I would not say it has any more power than a Dobyns 5 so you should prob pass
  6. Still a heavy used lure down here in the south especially around vegetation
  7. If it’s a keeper it’s a nice fish. Then you get into toads, hawgs, pigs, big mommas, etc
  8. Pretty sure that’s just Aaron’s dry sense of humor. Just because you don’t recognize the names doesn’t mean they aren’t just as talented. I guarantee you ever single one of the Elite anglers is an absolute stick
  9. I ran my MB with 1 centrifugal and very little magnetic. Might have been on zero
  10. I know there are a lot of guys here who buy off eBay including myself. Last night I woke up to an app notification saying I’d been outbid for an item I didn’t bid on. When I opened the app there were several active bids on my account as well as several items showing I had posted for sale. My first reaction was to change the password but the email on my account had been changed. I was able to remove any saved PayPal accounts or cards saved to my account before any purchase was made. Long story short, eBay was able to correct my account and the rep said this was happening more often since the virus. So please take the 10 seconds out of your day to change your eBay password and never have the same login to both eBay and PayPal. The rep also said hackings in their system were correlating to Amazon as well so he advised changing passwords there too. It’s also a good idea to change your email password every month. As someone who works in the financial industry I can tell you with 100% certainty that fraudulent activity is rising every month and hackers are becoming very slick. Please be careful and do not click email links or enter information unless you have verified the source.
  11. I bought an Icon not long ago for like $40 and love it for that price. It’s also on the heavy side but it fishes great
  12. I thought KVD model has brass gear and S3 had aluminum?
  13. Yep. You have a big heavy jighead on the outside of their mouth working against your hook. A little bend of the rod and stretch of the line will increase landing percentages. But a good hookset is most important However if you are short pitching in gnarly cover and are pulling the fish vertically straight up into the boat the a XF taper will work to your advantage.
  14. I use 15lb red label on about half of my rods and never really have issues.
  15. GReb replied to Mobasser's topic in Everything Else
Made a pot of red beans and rice tonight.
  16. Stanley wedge. But I bought several from Seibert last fall and really like them as well.
  17. All day long. The bites where you feel nothing but the line slack jumps is like crack
  18. Warning - jig bite is addictive. My absolute favorite way to fish
  19. Picked up a Falcon Expert Amistad to try. I love the Cara and have heard nothing but great things about the expert. Hopefully it’ll arrive before the weekend Also recently purchased a Quantum Icon PT for $42 on EBay to use throwing chatterbaits and spinnerbaits. I’ve always had good luck with the PT reels and the ACS system casts heavier lures really well. So far it’s performed exactly how I expected. Very sold reel with aluminum frame and supported pinion for less than $50.
  20. I painted during summers in high school in college. Tough work and those extension ladders can be dangerous when your bouncing 30 feet up. Dealing with customers standing 2 feet away while trying to work was horrible and some were impossible to please. The summers spent working for a local school district paintings classrooms and hallways were much better than the private sector. Even limited experience painting professionally was a curse because even 10-15 years later I still notice every flaw in the paint everywhere I go. When my house was built it was horrible. There were missed spots and runs everywhere I looked. Tell your nephew those paint guns are fast but deliver shotty work and a pain in the butt. He’ll make more money by slowing down and doing a good job. Bad reputation in the construction world happens fast and is impossible to overcome
  21. I just sold a LFS and MB together for $160 and was lucky to get it. Point being you can find great deals on Lews pretty much year round.
  22. If you paid through PayPal try going through them. As bad as ebays customer service is PayPal’s is usually amazing
  23. Ebay trick: find a large dealer that takes offers and offer 20% off. If denied, go to 15 then 10. Almost guaranteed 10% off will be accepted. I know folks who have had 20% accepted though
  24. Good quality FC will last years as well
