  1. With a trailer you can also launch the yak fully loaded...all electronics and other gear ready to go. You'd get off the ramp a lot quicker.
  2. No problem with the bait monkey here. I don't buy stuff I don't really really want, fishing or other.
  3. I guess my hook sets aren't that big because my lures never fly out of the water, unless I had a fish for a moment. Missed hooksets, I can't remember a lure shooting back at me. If someone is yanking jigs out of the water then I'd say that's a problem with their technique, unless the jig had just hit the water. If you're fishing in a foot or so of water then sure. Yanking one out of the water that is in many feet of water, I don't think I could even do that if I tried. Lures caught in grass or other snags, yes had plenty of those shoot towards me. Fish throws my lure, yes. Hung up frog...yep!
  4. Littering which is what many people seem to do. I doubt they will reply here though
  5. No watch and no wife. Don't want either (I've had both). I don't even care what day it is a lot of the time, especially when fishing. I tune the world out as much as possible when I'm out.
  6. If I lost $50 in baits a day fishing I'd quit.
  7. Only time I see them is in parking lots with adults doing all the work. Nobody really knocks on doors around here. I got in an argument once with someone from the Sierra Club years ago, and my friend's Dad used to argue with the Jehovah's Witnesses. It was pretty funny but he was kind of a jerk too. I am very good at saying no to people whether on the phone or to their face, and I can be a jerk too. I find it a good skill to have, when needed. I don't have a "get off a mah land" attitude, geez go ahead and come to my door I'd hate for people to fear for their life just for doing that! Do I live in Somalia? Oh my gaaawd someone's on mah land! Get the scattergun! When I was a kid people knocked on doors FFS. But then we talked to our neighbors back then too. I just don't like being bothered by people. I am not afraid (how sad that so many are) just easily annoyed.
  8. I actually pitch better this way (sidearmed) than doing it underhanded. It's just more comfortable, although direction can be more challenging. I'm used to it because there is always something on shore obstructing my pitches when I bank fish. I feel like a dork doing it the normal way because I suck at it kinda.
  9. I'm with Tom, knock the nests down as they come. If you want to spend the money on prevention then there are solutions, I suppose. It's not like they build them all year. This year there was a mud nest on the bottom of my Dad's pontoon boat, situated between the floor an the pontoon. Could see it on the lift. As a kid, BB guns took too many shots to clear the nest, they are tough, and it may not be safe or legal depending on your location. And you may damage the thing boathouse. Just spray them with a hose. If you want to allow the birds to finish nesting then feel free, but I probably wouldn't.
  10. This is by far my most popular Youtube video (37,000 views). And no I make no money at it. I use it for my Old Town Sportsman PDL 106. I wouldn't use it on very rough terrain with a heavy yak, but I mainly use it at home to get the kayak from the storage area to my van. Never used it at the lake.
  11. My paddle is in my van and has been since I bought it. Hard to forget it! I highly suggest people make a check list. Not everything, just the basics and safety. I do it for backpacking. If I forget something out there it could be bad. I would go without the paddle depending on where I was, but I'd rather not. of course I never use it, until I need it one day! I've used it to paddle out of weeds (Delta), but I could have managed pedaling and cleaning the drive if I had to. But if that pedal drive should break you're up the creek w/out the paddle. I have a tiny one-handed paddle for micro adjustments in my yak too. Maybe store one of those in the hatch full time? I wouldn't go very far without it. Also, if you hit rough water a paddle often works better than pedals.
  12. I'd buy or make a cart that fits in the boat's storage. If I had to run back up to the truck I'd just get a trailer and back down the ramp and make it real simple. Like any other boat. I never use my cart because I just back down to the ramp, put it on the roof of the van, half-way tie it down and go. Kayak rigged would be too heavy for me to cart up most ramps....bad back or tendinitis, take your pic. Not hauling that thing up a ramp, I use my van. I kinda get anxious at the ramp too sometimes, but I'm never ever the slowest one. And I don't get wet at all. I've never actually used this cart at the water, just at home getting it out of storage. I just drive down to the water. I don't setup the yak on the ramp, I do it either to the side in the dirt or on the dock out of the way.
  13. I use split shots often. I've even used tiny ones as bobber stoppers in a pinch. I find it convenient, especially if I'm being lazy, I can go from weightless to weighted, change the size, slide it up the line. And I've never had one damage my line that I'm aware of. They don't need to be very tight. I can make one into a slider with a tiny bit of work too.
  14. Gawd forbid someone complain to someone about something because they might be carrying. Says a lot about that subject. So much for "...is a polite society". More like scared. I was asked here a few days ago if I carry a gun when I hike in case of animal attacks. I do not. Fact: Mountain Lion and Coyote attacks are so rare I'm 6 times more likely to be struck by lightning. But facts be danged for some people! There is a thread on this forum full of guys that carry on their boats even though there has been like one murder on a bass boat that I can find, ever, and it was in a tourney a decade or two ago on a lake bordering Mexico, and the bad guys were Mexican bandits. If I'm wrong show me more cases. Not exactly an epidemic. All I can find are posts right here about guys flashing guns at pleasure boaters that get too close. I feel much safer unarmed in the woods than I do around these people. Sorry for the rant but #%@$ it. PS: I really need a break from people. Gotta go for now.
  15. Me? No. Got bites and lost one when it jumped. I didn't really fish much though. Was tired.
  16. Before the creek dried up last summer I'd catch bass in very shallow water, of course they had no choice. 90% of them would come from under cover to hit my baits.
  17. You say that like it's a good thing! Oh shoot...kids on my lawn again! "Your parents should have eaten you!!!"
  18. Dang I think I misread. But then how are there a dozen satellites suddenly in my shots? I did this several years ago with no issues. They look evenly spaced out like a grid almost. I'll have to look into this some more. Edit to add: I still think he's what I said he is
  19. I can't draw these days due to my tendinitis (tendonosis now oops stupid doctors) so thought I'd toss up a few doodles I did some months back. I can draw I'm not that injured but I'd rather fish or do something else with the limited pain-free use I have. Still seeing doctors. Not saying these are great I just had 'em laying around, figured what the heck. Maybe disturbing to some viewers... Small print so Alien 1: "Biggest human you ever seen! I had it right there on the table...500 pounds easy!" Alien 2: "Uh huh, and the recorder just happened to be out of order, sure, sure!" Should have gone with the spear gun. Eels always look like they're expecting something to happen don't they? Ya that's an eel. Whatever... "He says he'll tell us where the bigguns are if we let him go." "Don't believe him!!!" Bad Bad Leroy Brown....... I do seem to take the bass' side in a lot of these drawings, probably because so many people suck.
  20. I took a time lapse of the night sky while I was backpacking a few weeks ago. {Edit} These are not Musk's satellites I was mistaken All through the video you can see that some "stars" do not move across the sky with the rest. Those are Musk's satellites ruining the shot. They are geostationary and stay in one place relative to the rotation of the Earth. One shot has maybe a dozen satellites too, not just one. Astronomers are really happy about it too. I think he's a ****** but with a name like Elon Musk how could he not be? Enjoy your porn!
  21. @Catt I just wanted to come back here and say that you are correct. I'm all about evidence and I found plenty, and I like to learn, which includes admitting when wrong. I didn't doubt you per-say, but long story short, things that seem like they should be true often are not. I did my research and a bass' eyes, cones, etc do adjust slowly as night falls. At least according to what I read, and I believe it was one of the Berkley articles. It's interesting. I'm trying to find the article but my tendinitis is bothering me too much to look very hard. It was easy to find at the time. I found one now but it isn't as in-depth. Anyways, I still get bit at all times, but I will accept that bass eyes do take time to adjust, even if darkness does come slowly. Maybe I will do better now that I am armed with more information. It's not like I catch a lot of fish, so I need to be less stubborn. Thanks for the education!
  22. FishBrain is a great app for killing spots. I'm not talking on this forum about the waters around me ever again, private message or not.
  23. Or maybe just go back out to your lawn shake your fist at kids.
  24. If I haven't stuck myself good at least twice while putting on a new crank bait I consider changing the hooks.
  25. Just stumbled on this.... BASSRESOURCE.COM WINS ANOTHER AWARD https://thefishingwire.com/bassresource-com-wins-another-award/ .....while looking for something like this: This site is what it is because of this man, I think. He sets the tone and I dunno maybe it's the moustache.... I just like the guy. We're great too though I suppose! Well you guys are anyways.
