Ozark Trail lures
Yep, I lose lipless every time I throw them, mainly because I fish from the bank a lot. It is nice not worrying so much about cost. I made my first homemade crankbait last weekend. Gonna try it today and see if it swims upsidedown or in circles (good chance it will). If I catch enough fish, or big enough ones, to ruin the hooks then I'll move on up to better things, but for me having some bargain baits in the box is a good thing. BTW all the OT cranks that I've tried have rattles in them, and not just the lipless.

Multi-Tool for Fishing
I bought one for $5 bucks at Walmart for the kayak. If I drop it oh well. Pliers are good, the rest of the tools are a pain to unfold except for a couple. All I really need are pliers and scissors and unfortunately these have no scissors. I actually think my Swiss Army Knife is easier to use except no pliers :-D I used to just carry that and some hemostats, but hemos fail on big deep hook-sets.

My wife saw me do something that made her concerned
To you it's a thank you, to the fish it's "Oh my gawd he's about to eat me AAAAA!!!!!"

Ozark Trail lures
I just posted in another Ozark Trails thread so I'll be brief. The cranks are about as good as Bass Pro branded cranks, at least the hardware. I haven't changed out the hooks but if I did it wouldn't be that expensive to do so and it definitely would not raise the price of the bait very much at all. A $2 bait will not cost you 7 dollars to change hooks and rings. If you're looking at Walmart baits you probably don't have a lot to spend on fishing, or just don't want to. I've caught a 5 pounder on a OT crank. I made a barbless tackle box full of Walmart baits with pinched barbs. Cheap way to do it. Try them you have little to lose.

The latest sale thread
Dick's has YUM Dingers on sale for $1.97 for 5" 8 pack (maybe they are always on sale?). It says on the website that you need to buy 5 for that price, but I walked in the store and it didn't matter how many I bought. I bought 2 initially, then came back and got 5 more for backups and to give to a buddy. In-store color selection was very limited but there are tons online.

Goals for the winter...
1. Sell my yak, get a 14 -16 foot aluminum boat and do a bass boat conversion. 2. Make some baits. I've made a popper and a super spook. 3. Fish as often as I do the rest of the year.

My recent fishing videos..
Try not to let it get you too down. Sometimes I just hate humans, but they're A-holes, you're not, so you got that. Maybe the thieves got run over by a truck after stealing your stuff.

Pulse Width Modulated trolling motor controller hack
@Waytooslow That looks good. Saves the trouble of making a box. If mounted properly and tucked away it probably doesn't need to be waterproof.
- Did I kill this fish?!?!?

Easiest way to launch and trailer boat alone?
You won't forget your wheel block/scoch/chock if you put it behind the front tire rather than the back because you'll run over it

Need ideas for Traveling a kayak in a truck by Saturday
I edited the hell outta my post. In short I'd suggest checking your local laws on length of objects hanging out of your truck Not sure if they measure from the tail lights or the tailgate door or what. Editing this post too haha. I put it in right-side up. It's in there pretty solid. I have a ratcheting strap around the back. The yak starts to narrow there just a little so there's no way it's sliding out through the strap. I don't like it super tight, just tight. Who doesn't like it tight? :P

I put my 12 footer in the same truck you have with the tailgate down and a red flag on the back. No bed extender needed. Strap across the front and through the handle and a second strap wrapped around the back of the yak. ETA: Your yak can only extend a certain length even with a flag, I THINK, but that could depend on state. I think it's four feet here but I can't remember. I looked it up when I bought it. Was gonna get a bed extender but there weren't any local so went without. Look up the laws. On the day we bought it my friend thought we should close the tailgate and prop it up over the cab. I didn't like that idea, but once we saw it we both agreed with the method I used. It's actually 11.5 feet.

Pulse Width Modulated trolling motor controller hack
This is the type that you simply connect between the motor and the battery and it "just works" I believe. Stick it in a waterproof project box maybe. Perhaps replace the knob and switches, maybe not. Lots of ways to mount it. These are less than $20 on Amazon. I'd do it too in a heartbeat. Was gonna use one on my kayak but I'm selling the yak now. May use it on a new boat though

Cooler Talk!
It's a valid opinion. I would not spend anywhere near that on an ice chest either.

Fishing In Trees?
Found this Super Spook today. It seems pretty new, just a few dings and good sharp hooks. May have a hint of rust. Caught no fish so this makes up for it a little. Water is going down slowly. Found a drone a few days earlier, dug it out of the recently exposed shore. I left it there on a stick for someone else. I think this lure may have been dropped straight on the ground rather than snagged because it looks too good.

My new boat ! And first fish
I have a hat mounted action cam and I get shots of everything I see, mostly video, including my last two PBs. My avatar photo is my PB (so far - 5.25) self-taken from that cam, just a screenshot from a video though. My camera arm needs to be longer if I catch any bigger fish! It's not for everyone probably but I take it almost every time I go.

A question for bait and tackle junkies
Because a Plano box full of shiny colorful crank baits looks so beautiful! Like candy! Let's be honest - "<grunt>...me like...colors...prettyyyyyyy!!!" I have a Plano box for some barbless ponds near my house. I bought mostly Walmart baits and pinched the barbs on everything, baits, hooks in the package, jig heads and made a complete barbless tackle kit. I noticed I didn't have every crank bait in the collection. There's maybe 7 or 8. Hmmm...they're only $1.97, so I filled out my "collection" last night, except for one not in stock. Good thing I had that extra Plano box at home (cuz they're so cheap at Walmart), in fact that extra Plano box helped me to allow myself to buy these haha. So now I have 2 barbless boxes, and both have space in them still...they must be filled!

Fishing Jersey
Bingo! I wore a Budweiser T-shirt to school in junior high.

Tackle Storage - Rubber worms ect.
Ziploc freezer bag with original bags inside. Inside that I have a smaller Ziploc for used/wet baits that are still good. A second bag for shredded plastics I can use for trailers. Edit: I fish primarily from a backpack. I use this bag in the yak, but when I get a boat I will probably do something different.

Frog hack
I caught a bullfrog with a frog last week. Only strike I've had with one so far.

Ozark Trail Lures
Hope this thread isn't too old, I found it on a web search. I used Ozark Trail baits to make a barbless tackle box. I use them in my other boxes too, but it was a really cheap way to be legal at the one set of ponds near me that requires barbless. I pre-pinched every bait, jig and hook in the box. I have 4 or 5 cranks, a frog and maybe a popper or two, all for less than $2 each. They have 3500 and 3600 (I think) Plano boxes for $2.88 and $3.60. Found some mushroom head jigs with weed guards for $2+ for 5, bullet weights for $1 a bag, and cheap Arkie hooks. Add a few Beetle Spins and some Zoom Flukes for $3.50 a bag, some stick worms would be good too, and you're good to go. About the spinners in the OP, I've had one not spin very well, but they're good for the most part. I may use them too slow too. What are they like $1? Lipless's are good, I lose them just fine! Problem is they only sell the hardbaits in one Walmart out of the many near me. Thankfully it's the closest one, but you can order them online. I hate Walmart but I go there for cheap gear. I'd compare the quality of the cranks to the BPS branded ones, at least the hardware and action. Paint jobs are few and so-so. The frog probably won't last through many fish but the hooks seem good, and I did catch a big bullfrog with it. Was weird. The have some jerk baits in there now too. Caught a 5-pounder with a barbless crank. The bait survived fine.

Trolling Motor Thrust vs Speed
Something like this will turn your 5 speed TM into a variable speed motor that will run as slow as you like. Just hook it between your battery and motor.
