Is there a better solution for using a snap with a spinnerbait than a little dental rubber band?
Split ring, wrapping opening with braid or some type of tubing. Split ring has to big enough to go over R bend and small enough that it won't go over your split ring. Braid needs to be tied/wrapped. Doesn't take a lot of effort but still an extra step. I grabbed some old tubing from work years ago and I like that the best.

Tragedy in Columbia, TN
Very sad like all of these stories. You'll never be able to fathom it until you're in that same situation, have the same feelings (or maybe lack of feelings) etc. I never understood how someone could take their own life. Until one day (long ago) when I was going through some stuff. Normal life crap that lots of people go through. On this particular day I was extra down. It was very much a struggle to not leave work and do something "stupid". I basically forced myself to stay around people to keep a tenuous grip on life. But yeah after that day I now know. Basically lots of mental and emotional anguish/pain coupled with stress and a whole lot of merry go round in the headspace.

NW Ontario
Haven't been there in quite a while but I think the basics are the same. A weedy bay on a natural lake is a weedy bay on a natural lake. Weeds might be different up there. Points, humps, flats, rock piles etc. If it's been a warm spring everything should be in summer mode. We went up early one year and nothing was where it was supposed to be. The mosquitos are bigger and more aggressive. Our main smallie spot was a boulder field from basketball to truck size rock. I forget how big an area it was. We mostly fished live bait up there and leeches and a lindy rig were the go to for everything.

Singing braid
Makes me think of a guitar string and the similar physics involved in that making a sound. I would say no to the actual sound causing damage. But just like a guitar string if you tighten it too much it could snap. Or your line could rub on something while under load and and weaken it.

Should Have Listened to the Old Guy... do you?
Yep! Their tips and experience have made me a better fisherman.

Do You Retire Lures?
Just a couple LC cranks. One, I caught my first over 20" river smallie and the second caught my longest at north of 21. I do have a couple I'll never use. My kids were I think 5 and 7 gave me lures for my birthday. They told me all about the care and effort they put into picking out the most life like lures. It was a moment....

When to change out a car battery
Being 5 years old it's probably a good idea to change it v. getting stuck somewhere. Unless of course it's like a 10 year battery, then you could maybe get a couple more years out of it. Also depends on how much work it did. I assume batteries last longer when not exposed to extremes (like Phoenix heat or International Falls cold). Like TOXIC I could tell when my last battery needed replacing as it just sounded different on the start. Not a car savant like him. Mine just sounded off. Also, while a pain you only need the battery to start the car. So if you have cables or a jumper box you could wait until it fails....

How to know what the fish are feeding on
Can you get one of those dragonfly eats on video?

? Spinning reel retreive rate
Does the amount of line on the spool affect IPT on spinning reels the same as it does on bait casters? If no, then I'd say a higher geared or higher IPT should help you keep up with a bigger fish as it races downstream towards you. But it probably wouldn't matter much between the two IPT's you posted. If yes, then it probably doesn't matter.

The decline of our lakes.
It's kind of infuriating isn't it. Also very, very sad. Makes me think about The Lorax (the book).

You should try Earth Brite to get the tarnish off. It's clay based in a brite yellow and green container.

Great Georgia fishing
@geo g looks like you have an iPhone and you're about halfway there. These directions are for the phone. 1. Open the picture you want to post. Tap the screen once so only the picture shows (that gets rid of the date, time and stuff on the bottom of the screen). 2. Take a screen shot of the picture you have open. To do that on my phone I press the on/off button and the +/top button of the volume at the same time. 3. Go to the new photo/screen shot. Open it and click on the 3 lines with circles. Then tap the crop icon. The picture will then look like the picture you posted on Tuesday. Then just push the white border lines towards the center to get crop out the bottom and top of picture (which should be black space if you did it right). Save your changes. This significantly reduces picture size and should allow you to post a "real" picture. 4. When you "choose files" to add a picture to your post pick the one you just modified. Alternately you can you do do it on you computer as Alex from GA suggested. It'll be different doing it on Mac v. PC. If all else fails find a youngster lol

fighting a larger bass with spinning gear is fun.
I know what you're saying. For me it seems like I can get the drag dialed perfectly on my white stradic. Which allows the fish to surge but the rod flex's/adsorbs the surge while the drag just screams. I also think the sound of the drag heightens the experience. That being said I've had a few knock down heavy weight fights on my casting gear. Equally as fun but different vibe. More like a couple heavy weight boxers trading blows where spinning is maybe more like light/middle weight boxers and more foot movement.

Adding rusted tackle to a box with new baits
You might be able to get away with using the scotch brite green scour pads. That's worked for me, even on lures I've found. Alternately maybe some 00 steel wool. As far as spraying something... obviously the key is to get the water off. I would say give all your lures a good shake to get off excess water and give them a shot of wd40 at the hook areas.

Your all time favorite Shimano baitcaster.
And they are. I have a 1001 XT, sweet little reel.

Where are all the Illinois Guys ?
Beware of Lasalle in the wind as it's elevated. I believe Heidicke can also be challenging in the wind especially getting under the bridge.

Fishing PFD
I also have an NRS, can't remember which model tho... probably a ninja or chinook. I do remember trying on several different models and brands and whatever I chose was the only one that fit me both comfortably and properly.

WHAT SIZE AND BRAND OF SNAPS DO YOU PREFER?
I use decoy round, size 1.5. I think the those are rated around 20 lb. test, similar to my line. They have smaller sizes, lower test, maybe work for BFS. The only time they've failed is due operator error when using a jig or tube. Crossing their eyes is too much force on a 20 lb. test snap (think I had straight braid on when that happened). YMMV I think snaps in general pick up a little more debris than a knot. I haven't found they inhibit action but I also haven't done any personal experimentation.

- When is it time for your Dad/Mom to stop driving??
Semi off topic but I could tie it in to having to take off from work to drive parents around... Are they coming to work sick because they are not self aware or because they would have to use PTO when they are sick? If it's the latter then I totally get it. Not saying it's right but I get it. Only so much PTO to go around...- When is it time for your Dad/Mom to stop driving??
How did everyone get their parents(s) to appointments, grocery store etc. after they stopped driving? Right now I've been doing the stuff that truly requires it. However that will probably have to end in the near future. Not sure what our options are for any public or private programs yet. Thanks @DaubsNU1 what have you discussed on the above?- Devils River TX
Look on youtube for Jon B/Devils River. I think that's what he goes by. Anyway he did a multi day trip. Pretty sure it was BC so I don't remember too many details but maybe it'll springboard you. What I do remember was amazingly blue water and being fired up to go there. Bit of a drive tho...lol- When is it time for your Dad/Mom to stop driving??
I feel for you. We are in the same boat with my mom. I can honestly say, all things considered for my situation, if she did what your dad did she would be done driving. Keep us updated.- Do You Handle Bass (or other species) That You've Caught....?
I handle them as little as possible. Unfortunately for the fish, I sometimes need to handle them more than I like. - When is it time for your Dad/Mom to stop driving??
