  1. Hey Doug, congrats on the win!
  2. Hello Phil, welcome to the forums.
  3. Good one!
  4. The water levels in the lake are very low, use caution.
  5. The best way to get to them now is probably a 16 ft john boat with a small outboard...especially with the $4 per gallon gas. Do the draw downs have a beneficial effect on the lake habitat? Does anyone know if the corps of engineers planning on doing any muck scrapping or bottom improvements while the water is down? It would be nice to see some improvements, dredge channels, etc.
  6. Try some gambler big ez's lane toad color. Those swim baits work great down here in south Florida. Rigged weedless, they can be cast into the weeds.
  7. Good luck this Sunday.
  8. Lox is very weedy and it gets really tough to get around. I love the place but it can be a pain. I feel the same way as Shane, time to hit some different spots until the water comes up.

I like to catch them with a fly rod down here in south Florida. I flip the fly into and around the lily pads. A small chartreuse spider popper with white legs works excellent.
  10. I had a trailer tire come off my trailer while I was traveling 30 mph. The frame hit the road and I ground down the threads on the axle u bolts dragging it off the road. I forgot to check and re-torque the lug bolts, causing the tire to loosen up. The rim was ruined, all of the studs, as well as the axle u bolts. It cost me $300 to repair doing the work myself. I check those trailer lug nuts with a 4 way lug wrench before each trip now.
  11. We not have those in south Florida. I have never seen one of those. Strange looking bug. Do they bite?
  12. From the ramp, head east 100 yards toward the spillway and make a wide U turn (stay away from the buoy) so you don't hit bottom. Punch the gas and head west on the inside. Once you come to the 1st spillway heading west, cut back over to the canal side. When you are running inside across the hydrilla, the water is very shallow, stay on plane. The canal that runs east/north is blocked due to the construction of a new water control impoundment. It will probably be closed for quite some time.
  13. Those tilapia might have been myan cichlid's. They are usually bright orange.
  14. Congrats to you Bruce, another nice chunk bass. Holiday meal with an Easter treat, nothing better.
  15. I never tried rabbit, but after reading this thread I will try it someday. I do not see anything wrong with eating rascally rabbits on Easter. We are having pork and beef kabobs on the bbq.
  16. That is amazing. Nice collection of pigs.
  17. Way to slay those lunkers Bruce. Nice pic
  18. It was great meeting you guys. Thanks for the free stuff. We should meet up again at Holiday, mm41 or the lake in the near future. I had a chance to stick 3 big ones near the ramp on the new gambler green ez's. One or two might have been mud fish, but the others felt like bass on the line. I really hate those close calls. I am looking for some better rods and reels so I can dump my cheap stuff.
  19. Update: Boaters Bocabasser & partner Captain Shane & Dan Glades(Kevin & son?) Eric..call me, my son might bail out. Jason & Capt Bud Anyone else?
  20. Kevin (Krzkev), My son has decided to fish with me at Lox if I am able to get the night off. Everybody else, I will know for sure if I am going Wednesday.
  21. A pole is a good idea. I think I will make one. My Ranger is is 24 years old so I am not terribly concerned about the glass. The weeds are definitely a concern. The trolling motor batteries will be fully charged!
  22. Years ago,you could run the west canal around the bend all the way to the north turn. Some years ago, during high water, a floating muck island blocked the canal and it has been that way ever since. I wonder if the refuge has plans to fix this and make it easier to navigate. I was out there 4 weeks ago and I was bottoming out in the western flats in my 18 ft Ranger. I pretty much had to come off plane in the canal, tilt the motor and work my way into the flats and let the wind move me across. There is still plenty of good water to fish without going to the north bend.
  23. Hey Kevin, I am not sure if my son is going. I will find out on Monday/Tuesday. If not, the seat is yours. I am still not 100% sure either, probably 90%, I will have to take a vacation day as well.
