Trouble With Replacing Swivels & Split Rings
Thanks for the responses! On a related subject, I’d like to get into changing the skirts. I’ve looked at a few videos, including Glenn’s on this subject and have an idea on how to do it. But I am not sure on how long to leave the inside portion, the shorter end, to give the best profile. I’ve picked up a few packs of Dirty Jigs and Boss banded skirts and would be using these. I won’t be using these, mainly Keitech Fat Impacts, Flukes, and single tail grubs. Joe

S.S. Amoeba has been sunk!
Some people get off on doing something like this, it’s really sad. They probably spent the rest of the day pulling wings off off flies.

Trouble With Replacing Swivels & Split Rings
Are the yellow ones that much different from the orange? Would they work better on the smaller #2 split rings?

Trouble With Replacing Swivels & Split Rings
I have Texas Tackle pliers. I thought that was a good brand? That's one of the reasons I couldn't figure out the difficulty.

Trouble With Replacing Swivels & Split Rings
Yesterday I thought I’d change out blades & swivels on some spinnerbaits. I was looking forward to freshening up these baits! It quickly became a real chore! I was using #2 Sampo ball bearing swivels with the split rings already attached and have a set of Texas Tackle split ring pliers. I finally got one accomplished but it took quite some time after multiple attempts. I had to basically take the swivel assembly apart and attach each piece individually. Even with that there is now a gap in the split rings, they are not tight. Spring is the only way I can describe it, if that makes sense? Sorry for the long winded description, but is there a trick to doing this? Any tips would be appreciated! Thanks....Joe

SK Rage Craw Question
Sorry for the upside down pic? From the suggestions the craws would be okay in this wallet, but how about Fat Swim Impacts? This thing could get pretty full, would it mess up their tails?

SK Rage Craw Question
Thank you! I bought them for use as jig and Chatterbait trailers primarily. I do have a Plano for craws, but the are mostly Zooms and was thinking of using 2-3 slots for the Rage Tails. The box is stored on end in the main compartment of my bag.

SK Rage Craw Question
Do these bait need to be kept in the shell packaging? Will they deform if taken out of package and put into zip locks or a Plano box for easier access and saving space? I leave my Keitechs in the shell and was wondering if these are better left in original packaging?

Is 66 yards enough main line to put atop backing on BC reel?
That’s very similar to what A-Jay suggested.

Weighted Wacky Hooks?
Ended up getting a few packs of these. They look good for Senkos. Also got a couple packs of Owner Ultraheads. The hook are kind of small for Senkos, but I’ll try them on smaller baits.

Can you do this accurately with lines that are not the same diameter? I’d be interested in your formula for this. This is what I’ll be doing in the future. I’ve tried to figure out how much backing to put on that would give me the X amount of top shot (braid) that I wanted and screwed it up every time!

Weighted Wacky Hooks?
I’ve tried the nail weights for wacky rigs, but would like to get some weighted hooks for another wacky option. Mainly for 5” Senkos. What are some of the best ones out there? Until I can get some I had the idea of crimping a split shot on a regular wacky hook just below the eye. Would this work? Joe

Yes, do this^. I had this same problem with an old Shimano Sedona only it was just the opposite. I had to add a washer.

Frogg Toggs Selection?
Hi All, I'm looking into getting lighter rain wear for use out here in California. I already have a set of insulated Guide Wear and have used it on a few occasions when the weather was really cold in the winter. It is quality stuff, but I'd like to get a set of rain wear that would be more comfortable in the spring. I've done a search and some of you have suggested Frogg Toggs for use in warmer weather, but didn't refer to a particular style. I have my eye on the Pilot II Guide and the Java Toadz 2.5 (Jacket and Bibs) in a camo pattern so I can also use them for turkey hunting. Do they keep you dry and are they durable? Any of you have experience with these two styles? Any input would be appreciated! Thanks....Joe

I’m with you here. I like ST! Light earlier and dark earlier. Early to bed early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise! Ah, maybe sometimes.

Hook Sizes On Weighted Swim Bait Hooks And Underspins?
Can someone please shed some light on why hooks of the same advertised size between these baits are so different? I can understand that different company's hooks may vary, but I've seen a big difference in baits from the same manufacturer. For example: I have some Owner Flashy Swimmers with a 5/0 hook and just got some Owner Weighted Twistlock Lite Hooks, also in 5/0. The Flashy Swimmer hook is much larger, why is this? Thanks....Joe

YGK Soul Sinking Braid
What impresses you most about it?

YGK Soul Sinking Braid
Tried this line for the first time this past weekend. Fished it on a spinning outfit using a 3/16 oz shaky head with a 6 1/2” worm. It didn’t appear to sink any more rapidly than Power Pro Spectra, and it’s manageability seemed the same. I’ve got to qualify these observations by saying I’m not very experienced using braided line. The PP and this line are the only two braids I’ve used. Maybe over time I can be a better judge of a lines capabilities. But I did catch a 3.76 spot using that rig so I’m happy! Maybe someone else whose used this line can offer a better critique on it’s strong and weak points. Joe

I'll give that a try.

Avoiding the Bait Monkey
It is a never ending battle! For me it doesn't necessarily have to be on sale, it's a reflex action! If I see post or something online my first reaction is...I gotta have it! I'd second the narrowing manufacturers as long as the color selection is good. Sadly that doesn't always happen!

Uniknot Help
Looks like the double uni I've seen on the Salt Strong site, the loop is just inverted. They recommend it when tying to braid.

Very nice! You should patent it!

Thanks Glenn! Will that work for most pound tests?
