Minn-kota 5 bank charger issue - losing battery setting
Yeah if I change it back it'll stick for a while. Maybe a week, maybe two months. And works fine. Sounds like I should just get a replacement.

DO YOU USE SCROUNGERS.......DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT THEY ARE???
Y'all pay attention, this is the juice for big fish. They don't always want this but when they do they will absolutely rocket off the bottom to come get a big meal. First time it happened (saw it on livescope) I didn't even know there was a fish there. I wish there was some sort of line through scrounger, the heavy ones are easy for the fish to throw.

School me on Chatterbaits.
Lately I have two rods with chatterbaits on all the time, so I guess it's a staple for me. I'm fortunate to live in an area where bladed jig is a top five lure year round so I'm on it all the time. Even winter. I'm 100% largemouth, so you may have something different if you have a lot of spots (ask @AlabamaSpothunteror smallmouth (ask @A-Jay) A few things that may make a difference for you, they do for me: 1) Take your 3/8 chatterbaits and put them in a box. Put the box in the closet. You'll know when you need to get them back out. You'll probably buy 3/4 oz before you get them back out. 1/2oz should be your default. It'll run about 5-6' deep. on 15-17lb line if you follow the next step. 2) Run it as slow as you can run it and still feel the blade thumping. 3) Blade color matters sometimes, and when it does it matters a LOT. I find this to be more common than most would expect. 4) Just use a zako trailer. There are others, but this is the standard and for a good reason. There are some edge cases like you know they are eating small shad or whatever, but that's not most days. 5) For an alternate retrieve when the fish are feeding 'down' - cast it out, let it sink to the bottom, reel it a little (not rod movement) and let it hit bottom again. Kinda like a swinghead. 6) I find my best results for bigger fish with a steady retrieve, and best results for most fish with the occassional speed up, or pause and rip. 7) for wood, two things will help but it's never perfect a) z-man crosseyes has a brushguard that is better in wood than anything else b) use a trailer like a rage bug and rig it horizontal so it's less likely to roll over when it hits wood.

Minn-kota 5 bank charger issue - losing battery setting
I have a minn-kota 5 bank charger, and station 2 sometimes just forgets to be on the lithium setting, which means it doesn't charge. I shouldn't have to check it every time. Of course it's my electronics battery which is the heaviest load. I can get by with the jump setting between that battery and the lithium cranking battery, but that's not ideal and I doubt it's good for the battery to do that every time anyway. Is there a common problem/issue here, or just get a replacement under warranty?

Mistakes you made early on.
Tackle - too many similar soft plastics. Similar shape, different brand but a little different, etc. But I don't fish soft plastics that much and when I do it's almost never the piles of stuff I have too much of. Oh the piles of senko colors. I don't really fish a senko anyway, and if I do it's probably a 6". I think I have rage menace in 2 sizes and five colors. Best use I have for one at this point is maybe a swimjig trailer. If I'm going to the bottom I'm throwing a jig or a free rig or maybe a big worm. Same thing for jig trailers. 50 packs. Need maybe two shapes and two colors. I feel the opposite way about hard baits though, and if anything, being able to make small tweaks has been very useful - I get a lot of good feeback on how they are eating it and a color change or a noise change can really be worth it. Fishing - every fish might be big and I need to lay my eyes on it before I decide it's a small fish and half-ass it. 100% of my big fish losses are my fault, and a majority of those are because I wasn't in "ITS ON" mode.

Bfs tips needed - breaking off on soft plastics
San diego jam is by far the best knot on flouro. You can always see if it is tied right, and it's resistant to shock shear relative to other knots. That, and loosen your drag up, and keep your thumb away from the spool. You may be thumbing on the hookset and not noticing.

I had one in the full seat size on a jon boat. My favorite thing about it was how cool it is - I fish a lot when it's hot.

Tackle Warehouse?
Best I can tell, if you order around a big sale time, all the overnight and two day orders go out first, then they start working on what is probably a giant backlog. If I had a single complaint it would be that the split inventory can make two-day orders kinda expensive, but that's become less of a problem lately. Maybe they are only charging for one two-day package. I've tried about everyone else, and between the selection and the customer service I keep ending up back at TW. New stuff? TW. Big order? TW Sale time? TW. Omnia has promise, and they are very reliable. But the depth of product for a southern angler who likes to try new stuff just isn't there. They get a fair number of orders from me because of the pro program and free shipping, but those are mostly replenishment on items that are pretty well-known/established. A recent up and comer for me is copper state tackle 1) still small so personalized and 2) they have a deeper 6th sense inventory than anyone besides 6th sense.

The latest sale thread
Great find. The GP/white are a staple for me. Theres a few decent colors of 5" senkos on a similar sale - bama bug and watermelon/red flake.

My jerkbaits are saved!
Thanks. My particular use case is on an a-rig where it seems like exposed hooks are the deal, especially when they are nipping at it. On the fly eyes, any of it big enough for 5-6" swimbaits?

Alternatives to this bait?
Deps bull flat (maybe, I don't recall whether the tail folds up on the fall) Geecrack Spiron

Buzzbait/Frog Line?
Consider no-fade braid. Tight weave, thin for the test, etc. It is expensive but it lasts a really long time. I use vicious 50lb for what you describe. I might try something else but I haven't run out of it yet because it has held up so well.

Continue to search for active bass vs slowing down -when?
A little twist on the high percentage spots - often you'll find places on the lake that are high percentage but for multiple scenarios. A point with a channel swing on on side so a fast dropoff, and a taper on the other that merges into a flat. Shallow, deep, on the flat, on the flat edge, on the dropoff, windblown side, lee side, etc. So you can cover a lot of scenarios with very little movement of the boat and maybe start to build a pattern off that.

My jerkbaits are saved!
Where can I get these? I need something for eyes off swimbaits so bad I've started daydreaming about how to do it. The stick-on eyes are useless.

Tatula 2025 casting rods
I can only speak to the elite line (non ags or ags) - if bladed jig is your primary on this, Daiwa's "R" action is pretty much perfect. MH/R to be specific. More of a moving bait rod that a jig/tx rig rod. But if you told me I had to do everything with a single rod it would be one of the following: Daiwa MH/R - price point winner Kistler Nitranium - fav so far, I just want a 7'2" or a 7"4' Loomis MBR action - so expensive St Croix SCV blank (I forget the model) - best as a big deep crank rod, but works pretty good on chatterbaits and other stuff.

PFD Question
Mustang HIT. Doesn't go off in the rain. Professional quality stuff. It's light enough that I don't even notice it in the summer. The newest one has a comical (in a good way) amount of bouyancy. Reminds me it's about time to get a re-arm kit and swap it out. My biggest risk is that I mostly fish alone, and if I get knocked out it doesn't matter how good I can swim.
