  1. welcome back!
  2. while doing some winter cleaning, noticed one of my pretty new reels (daiwa tatula type-r) thumb bar is quite clunky and much harder to disengage when pressing to release the spool compared to all of my other reels. something definitely seems off i've used this reel a maybe twice. any idea what would be causing this?
  3. i'd rate myself as a pretty good stick for a tournament co-angler, and yes it does suck fishing docks from the back of a boat. skipping a weightless or super light senko on a spinning rod is definitely the most efficient technique you can use from the back deck
  4. to be fair, MLF has a 5 bass limit series (tackle warehouse pro circuit), which their first event was just completed. as for their more known format of catch weigh and release as many bass as you can, i am not the biggest fan, but it doesn't bother me either. competition within a certain industry is always good for that given industry. i actually kind of liked the reset. i'd be open to seeing how that would work in BASS
  5. once you get comfortable with the one baitcaster, i would subsitute your 7' MH spinning outfit to a second baitcasting outfit to throw the chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, jerkbaits, etc.
  6. this is kind of irrelevant since average weights of bass vary depending on your location in the country. just because you catch "multiple" bass over 10lb's every year where you live doesn't make you a better angler or qualify your "right" or "wrong" opinion over others. just my two cents lol
  7. really depends on your budget. i'm biased towards daiwa just because i own a ton of their gear, so i could recommend a fuego (just as MN Fisher said above) or a tatula CT. quality reels and you won't break the bank.
  8. 2021 AOY and wins the first 2022 event... stud!
  9. 6'6 medium daiwa tatula rod paired with a tatula ct 6.3.1 reel and 12lb fluoro
  10. i've fished the fury rod and it was well suited for squarebills, wiggle warts, and other medium diving crank baits. i'd recommend a 6.3.1 gear ratio reel
  11. a medium heavy fast action should cover all of your bass and pike needs
  12. there's an old timer in my club who only throws a green pumpkin senko on a light texas rig. he usually does decent in our small club tournaments and always comes back with fish in the livewell. to each their own i guess!
  13. hilarious and a carbon copy
  14. lure choice depending on season and whatever cover you’re fishing. Baitcasting 7'1" MH Fast rod 15-17lb fluorocarbon jigs, texas rigs Spinning 7'0" MH Fast rod 12lb fluorocarbon chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, jerkbaits, lighter topwaters, carolina rigs Spinning 6'6" M Fast rod 15lb braid to 8-10lb fluorocarbon leader senkos, tubes, ned rigs, shaky heads, hair jigs, small swimbaits Spinning 6'6" M Fast rod 15lb braid to 8-10lb fluorocarbon leader drop shot, drop shot, drop shot
  15. i know a ton of dobyns only guys and almost all of them do not own a single signature fred rod.
  16. great color especially if your any of your waters hold alewife
  17. that tatula 7’3 MH is an absolute workhorse and excellent all purpose rod. great pick up
  18. i take reviews with a grain of salt, especially rod reviews. my favorites are the ones saying their rod snapped boat flipping a one pounder. i’d love to watch a video of this so called rod snapping boat flip. you know once you flip the fish into the boat you need more than 6 inches of line from your rod tip
  19. fishing it vertically off the side of the boat i drop it down, let it soak, give it a couple twitches, repeat. if i cast it out i let it sink, slow drag with a couple twitches, soak, repeat back to the boat
  20. This event is the MLF pro circuit that is the traditional 5 bass limit. A few of the Bass Pro Tour anglers fish in it, but not all. Most were FLW anglers
