Launching/Loading Bass Boat - Beginner
I have a 25' anchor line attached to a front cleat of my boat with a mushroom anchor. I put the anchor either in my truck bed or under the winch stand on the trailer and coil the rope and lay it on the bow of the boat so it'll flow off. I then go to the back of the boat, remove the straps, check the plug, pump the bulb and lower the motor to just clear the ramp. Next remove the winch strap and back the boat just off the trailer. Pull up to grab the anchor rope and pull the boat to a dock, ramp or the shore. Park the truck and go fishing. It takes longer to type this than to launch the boat. To retrieve I pull the boat up to the bank, ramp or dock, get the truck and power load. It's twice as fast with another person to drive the truck to the parking lot.

Best style kayak anchor
I only fish small rivers and streams with my kayak and use an 18" length of 3/8" chain. If I need more weight I use 2 lengths. My buddy once tried an anchor pole through a scupper hole in his kayak and I had to retrieve his stuff.

How does finesse fishing work good?
I learned to bass fish in the late 70s and early 80s in CA's deep lakes from the finesse experts and continue to this day all over the country. It works. You can get inactive fish to bite by doodling or drop shot.

Your shore/canoe/bass boat rankings
Bank. The only bank fishing I do is on my pond in FL. If I don't stock it with bass from the local rivers and lakes it's a 1. Kayak about an 8 and boat the same. I only use the kayak in rivers and the boat everywhere.

Fishing with our senator
You are an am"bass"ador to our sport. Sorry Tom, I answered before I read.

Do you have rules in your boat?
My only rule is don't offer to help get the boat ready or launch. I can make enough mistakes myself without help.

Safety for our furry fishing companions.
I have a buddy that had a Jack Russell and if you know about them they're too dense to swim far, they slowly sink. His dog always went on his offshore trips and would grab on to a tuna's tail when we caught one. The fish would knock the crap out of the dog but he wouldn't let go. He'd wait until we got back to shore before going potty and usually we were gone for over 12 hours. Yes he wore a life jacket with a handle.

Current Favorite Braid for Froggin’ ?
I use 60 lb Chinese braid. Noisy but I can't hear anyway and it's probably made by the same company that makes the high priced stuff.

Battery and charger recommendations
I use a 50 ah lithium for my 45 lb trolling motor and it lasts for 3 days. I've been using a cheap knockoff for 3 years with no problem.

How does your boat handle?
I'm in an older, 16' '88, Gruman Renegade bass boat with a 45 lb cable controlled trolling motor. Haven't had any trouble with it blowing around in the wind or going straight. The only thing is it rides like crap if it's not dead smooth. I broke the locator mount several times before I solid mounted it.

Vertical Jigging
I keep a jigging spoon tied on all year and drop a spoon when I see fish below me. Bass, LM and Alabamas, stripers, walleye, crappie, perch, bream and white bass are all caught on a spoon. I usually use either a 1/2 or 3/4 oz usually white spoon.

Reel ratio?
I used to buy Shimano reels with XHS, extra high speed, and the ratio was 5:1. Recently I bought 2 8:1 Tatulas and they're worth it. Less fatigue on my old body.

Balance
I'm small 5'5" and light @ 135 and also old, 83 but still have never fallen. I need to sit while fishing most of the time and kayak fishing is getting harder to get in and out. I have to turn the boat to face wakes head on.

Bycatch
Bowfin especially on a spinnerbait.

Walking bait.
This morning I picked up the top water rod and promptly caught 2 LM and 2 Alabamas. Stuck with it for a while longer then went to a finesse worm. Water temperature was 82* and I only saw 1 other person crappie fishing in a dock. Had a limit before 7 am and quit @ 9:30.

Windy morning.
Trust me sweet hart, I've never lied to you before.

What Rods are staples for you Kayak
Usually a 5 1/2' spinning rod with 6 lb mono. Sometimes a mh 6'6" bait caster with 12 lb mono. I only fish rivers in my kayak and always go downstream.

Windy morning.
Left the dock @ dark and fished until 9:30 this morning. Tried top water for nil and a spinnerbait for 1 fish. None on a jig and fluke. Got to a spot with a few brush piles in 13-25' and doodled a worm. Ended up with 1 lm and 9 Alabama bass to just over 2 1/2 lbs. Water temp was 83. These were the same fish that wouldn't bite last Friday. I recon the wind had something to do with the bite. You'll have to believe me as there are no pictures.

Froggin reel
I'm using an older Quantum Accucast 7:1 metal frame and can lock down the drag. 60 lb braid. With a 7'8" heavy rod it will cast as far as I want and bring in fish through pads.
