  1. The K has a smoother on the retrieve, but I can actually cast lighter baits on the SLX. Now I'm not trying to steer you towards Shimano. Daiwa's are great reels I'm just not familiar with their newer reels.
  2. Got ya. My Curado K is a great performing reel. My Curado 70 is also.
  3. I've been impressed with the Shimano SLX for it's price. I've never even held a Fuego so I'm not comparing reels.
  4. I own a 1436 LT Alumacraft from Academy. I'm in the process of building it but the build quality seems to be fine for my use. If you're going TM only I'd go with a 24 volt. I went from a 40lb to 80 lb on my 1448 Lowe and the performance and battery life difference is night & day.
  5. I'm in Ga. and my 3 biggest LM were caught in February within a rods length of the bank. But March & April turn out some fats girls too. I fish year round and read all the time that winter's great for catching big girls. Even though I throw jigs and big swimbaits I never catch big bass in the winter but it's my best time #'s wise.
  6. Thank you for your service Luke. I'm glad you're here with us. I stop and take a pic of the sunrise on every trip and remember just how lucky I'am to be able to fish. On new water I always start fast and slow down until the fish cooperate. Goodluck.
  7. Went LM fishing April 12th 2018 and caught 61 Stripers, 19 Hybrids, 6 Spots, and 0 LM. Caught everyone on topwater. It was a phenomenal day.
  8. In the dead of winterm y little over an acre stained cow pasture pond that's 7' at the most gets most active after a couple days with no rain and a sunny day from noon til 4pm. The baitfish move up to the bank to get some warm water and the bass follow. I'll catch them on small floating Rapalas just paralleling the bank with a slow/stop retrieve. My best winter day at the pond is 62 LM in 1 hour at 41 degree water temp and 44 air temp with a 20 mph wind.
  9. Ordered a Curado DC & a Zodias and both were 20% at the end of the order.
  10. Sorry for your loss. Nothing rides in the bed of my truck with my rods and nothing unsecured in the boat. I would be very upset with my self. I've got one bud that tries to put his big tackle bag in the bed every single time. I have to tell him to put it in the empty back floor of my truck where it won't destroy valuable rods when some idiot pulls out in front of us and I'm forced to jam the brakes.

  12. I deep clean every new reel before I put it on a rod, service with oil(RemOil) & grease(Cal's) with approximately 10% of what was in it from the factory. Deep clean annually and oil bearings every other month. I fish year round, so I keep a list of service intervals and do 2 - 4 a month every month. I clean metal parts with acetone in my ultrasonic cleaner and plastics with dish detergent and a toothbrush. If you're not able or willing to oil your bearing often I'd suggest using a slightly thicker oil than RemOil.
  13. She used to be a affordable boat until I put the electronics on her and greatly increased her value. It's my Happy Place.
  14. I don't let my bunk carpet dry, year round. It does get tough in the winter with deer, hog, squirrel, and duck hunting.
  15. My fishing style is like a box of chocolates. Might throw a a 1/32 crappie jig with half a Roboworm or a 10" glidebait.
  16. No lucky charm for me. I rely on unadulterated skill and occasionally I'll catch some unlucky bass.
  17. Tip: Fish fast, Fish slow, but most importantly go. All the reading and watching of videos will help but being on the water is they way to catch them.
  18. 3/4 oz Cotton Cordell chrome jigging spoon with a nice sharp Owner hook works great. Cast past the school count it down a few seconds a yo-yo under the hordes of small fish on the surface. I'm not responsible if you get your arm broke.
  19. We never freeze here and I prefer the winter cold to summer heat so I actually fish more and longer in the winter. I can control my comfort by removing or adding a layers which would get me arrested in the summer.
  20. Nice. I fish a Tranx 400 A and I'm picking up a 300. I'm torn between the Curado, Tatula, & Tranx.
  21. Flip my braid after a year, change it after two years due to wear. Use KVD conditioner on all lines the night before a trip. I just like that new line smell.?
