Thinking About Giving Up
I have been bass fishing since I was a kid, I am now almost 40 and within the last three years I have really gotten serious about bass fishing. I bought my first boat in July and this has been the worst year of fishing by far. I thought with buying the boat it was going to be easier to find and catch fish, boy was I wrong! I got very frustrated and was very upset with myself for spending money on the boat and not fishing better! Then a good friend I have known since we were toddlers sat me down and explained I was complicating things too much. He is a very good bass fisherman far as people I have fished with over the years, and he has taught me a lot. He made me realize fishing out of the boat now I was starting over again as far as how I fish certain techniques and baits. I was so used to fishing from shore and fishing from the angles off shore, I didn't realize that I had to change approaches to structure and other places that hold fish compared to bank fishing. But once I calmed down and really looked at it and paid attention to what I was doing, I then realized what I was doing wrong and could correct it. I guess what I am saying is after all those years of fishing bass and thinking I was pretty good at it, I had a whole lot of stuff to learn again. So don't get frustrated and give it time, and not to be a jerk, but if you are looking for instant gratification then bass fishing may not be what you want to do. There are days where they will just beat the snot out of you and leave your pride bruised! Stick with it, I promise it will get better and you will be glad you stuck with it! Ok going to quit rambling now!

An expensive couple of weeks...
All I have to say is when I see some of you guys talk about what you spend on a single swimbait, let's just say a certain body area puckers, but we won't get into detail!!!! ?

How to clean an aluminum boat
Awesome will clean just about anything I think. We use it on just about everything at home and it saves you money instead of paying for all the high dollar cleaners.

Went to the local tackle shop today, stocked up on some stuff that I have been wanting. Got a variety of Berkley crankbaits to try out next spring, stocked up on Molix flipping jigs, and some chatterbaits.

What technique would you teach to a beginner angler?
Texas rigged soft plastics! It will let them learn things that will help with other techniques, like bite detection( watching line for movement).

Football is almost here !
Joe Burrow is very good! Was very good in high school and also at OSU, just had someone in front of him that was better at the time. Joe may end up having the better pro career when all is said and done though.

Need some general advice for rods and reels
I seen where Gary Dobyns himself mentioned the other day if you call there warehouse in Texas they will have a wider selection for the refurbished rods than is listed on their website. Since they moved from California to Texas in the past couple months, they were focused on the move and the website listings have fell behind. So give them a call, you may find a great deal.

Bass tracker 170tx vs all fish 18v
I have the 170 TX, just bought it used in July of this year. I love it so far, but I wouldn't be putting kids on it if it were me! Unless they stay down in the seat well it would be really easy for them to fall over the side. I have never seen the other boat so I don't know what the lay out of it is. But the 170 would scoot with a 50 hp motor on it, mine only has a 9.9 on it and still goes pretty good!

Carpet replacement
I was wondering how many have redone the carpet in their boats? I have a 2007 Bass Tracker and the carpet is tearing in a few places, so was going to attempt replacing it over the winter! My main questions are how hard is it to get the old carpet cleaned off and also what would be an alternative to carpet? I am not sure I want to put carpet back on it!

Garage Storage-Terminal Tackle
No but I thought about that the other day actually. Went out to grab a couple nails to hang pictures in the house and thought that exact thing!

Foul weather gear
I am just starting to look at foul weather gear to keep in the boat, I am wanting by it on sale this winter at some point or maybe see if it could be bought as a Christmas gift. Anyways was looking online and seen the Magellan brand at Academy and was wondering if anyone had any personal experience with this brand? My buddy is telling me the Guide Wear from Cabela's but seen the Magellan and thought if I could save money why not. I am sure it is like anything else, you get what you pay for. Just thought I would see if anyone on here has personal experience?

How many techniques did you start with?
As a kid there was a farm pond that I fished owned by a family friend. Fished this pond from age 5 till I graduated high school, there were two baits that I needed for that pond no matter when I was there. An inline spinner in the purple color, and a tequila sunrise powerbait worm. That was what I started with, and pretty much all I used growing up.

Texas rig
I always go over the eye and knot unless I am fishing a straight shank hook! Don't know the reason why just know it works best for me like that!
