  1. armesjr - Bring the kayak, it will really open up your options. Jay- I'll be working a full day with a full load.
  2. Jay, bad news for me. One of the guys at work quit and that changes the rotation.........................so now I get to work that Saturday!
  3. LBH hit it on the head, thats how I did it 20-24 years ago. Now I look at Google Earth and then mark it on a map. Also talk to the locals. Some fishermen are tight lipped. but for the most part they'll tell you when and where to go. If you lived up this way/Fairfax county, I and or slomoe could put you on some fish. Best of luck and welcome back to bass fishing.
  4. I bought some and fully agree with Wayne P, the appendage is only about 1 inch long and the action was lack luster.
  5. I use them, I truely believe that it makes the fish hold on just a tad longer. Due to my reaction time, I need all the help I can get. CB's Hawgsauce and Jacks Juice.

    Well said Pigsticker
  7. Right on, nothing beats the colors in the sky..........all natural!
  8. My old service writer had very high praise for Motts, he loved the place and showed me pictures of quality/keeper fish. After explianing to him what a tournement keeper was, he came back the following weekend with pictures that would have been hard to beat. I still have not made my way down there yet, maybe in the spring. I think you have to get some special pass to fish it. PM Sam, he would know.
  9. It comes down to what feels right and fits the price range your working with. I shopped around for awhile and I bought a Pflueger Supreme 8035 spinning reel, it fit the line size I was using and its magnesium frame and spool make it very very light. It's super smooth too. it ran me about $100 and suits me just fine.
  10. Matt, you know I'm up for that. We should hook up at this one pond I know of. Water is super clear and perfect for learning how to feel the bite. Feeling it sometimes is tricky.
  11. Chris, are you for hire? You are on point when it comes to fishing. Alot of guys claim to be, but you show them how it is done. I guess you either have an incredible amount of time on the water and have the ability to remember that one tiny detail that made that fish bite and repeat it over and over, or your fishing with dynamite and only take pictures of the biggest ones.... .... Congrats on another great fish.

If I am going to sit front row to a ticking match, I'll need to put on some XPS rain gear................ Nice fish there, I hope to catch a 6 pounder soon. Don't feel bad that people try to shoot you down even with a picture. :-/ I don't carry a camera and I'm constantly getting someone trying to tell me I'm lying. Never to my face and there are 2 reasons why. If they are with me, I'll prove them wrong and 2nd. I serve a mean Knuckle sandwich..........
  13. I'm taking one of the guys from the forum tomorrow and will arm myself with something I don't carry.........A CAMERA! I hope to post up some pics. Every time I have a camera in the boat........dink city.
  14. After seeing the Core mounted to the Carrot, I found myself mumbling nonsense for at least 10 minutes. I really love my Carrot Stix. It is so light and effortless to fire a small crank waaaaaay out there. I was looking to trade mine due to the fact that I purchase the wrong action rod, but after using it for it's intended purpose........NO REGRETS!!!!
  15. The other day I saw a thread that listed Avid as a ex-member. What gives?
  16. I own the LTX, Don't knock it til you try it. I bought the wrong one with a parabolic action, but I have been out tossing Minus 1's and other shallow cranks and it performs "flawlessly".
  17. Trevor and I will play tag along........ If thats cool?
  18. But very very productive.
  19. I have had really good luck with the drop shot the past 2 Sundays, yesterday I landed 6 keepers and the week before I landed 9. But the water I was fishing was clear. Before that it was all about the shaky head.
  20. Ron, my girl is doing great. She is back in school and as happy as they come..... Thanks for asking about her.
  21. This time of year, I would drop shot, cranks and football jigs. In the winter I would start off in the late morning and fish deep into the afternoon. Topwater this time of the year might not be your best bet. Think Winter patterns, forget pre-spawn. What is considered to be pre-spawn is not for at least a month.
  22. I have never seen a topo of Royal, even if there was. The lake has become so silted in, it probably would not be accurate anymore. They are preparing for a draw down of Royal in the spring to do work on the dam area. As for depth I would say 12-15 feet on the other side of the spillway, at least that is what I remember seeing on the depth finder a few seasons ago. There is no real structure. The water is always dirty/stained as long as there is rain, during a drought the water has a nice tint to it, just enough to keep shallow fish from getting spooked. Early mornings in the spring and the summer, before the sunlight touches the water is the best time to fish Royal. Once the sun hits it, it is over.
  23. PM me with the date and i see if i can help, remember i am smiling .
  24. Trevor, you know I'm down with that. Ron,I'm not a camera kinda guy, most of the pictures I have taken are on my phone and ever since getting thrown from a boat last fall prefishing a tournement at Fountianhead I am unable to down load any pictures, take any pictures and the screen does not light up. The following weekend you and I went out on your boat. If memory serves me right, I showed you and your son the pictures on my phone. One 7+ pounder, two 5 pounders and a slew of 3-4 pounders. If there is any doubt, we can review them all again in the proper lighting. As for the Royal Lake record, it hangings on the wall at Marvin's house. I'll take some pictures when I go over there next. I just got off the phone with him and I did shoot myself in the foot, but here is the fix. The lake record did not weigh over 10. But darn close. It was a northern strain female which makes it that much more incredible. They don't get big as often as southern strain. As for the fish that I posted, it was not weighed, the length and width had been messured and run through the bass calculator which is accurate with in 2-3 ounces. Exact weight will be coming in a day or two, I shot him an e-mail. As for any other fish I catch, ask Trevor or Drums. They can vouch for the times spent with me, which is alot. Drums may have some pics to share. As stated before, I apparently come off as a > pr!ck or a know it all. Next time read all of my posts while picturing me :)smiling in a friendly fashion . I thought the point of this thread and the forum in general was to share and help each other out. All I'm trying to do is share a location and tactics that I know can put some of you on your next PB! Thats all. For those of you that have fished with me know that already. I give tackle to everyone I meet, Ask ado124 and Trevorlakebraddock. pkshul, PM me your e-mail and I'll shoot you a map of the flat/drop off that seemed to produce alot of the evening buzzbait fish.
