  1. My buddy Marvin taught me a major part of bass fishing. When in doubt, set the hook. Even more so when the water is cold. When the water is cold your line will go slack or "something" will feel heavy. The bite is alot different than when its warm. Most of the fish I have caught on the shakey head just make the rod feel heavy or real lite. It takes some getting used to. Not like in the summer , they nail it and take off.
  2. That was terrible, windy and really warm for this time if the year. Foul hooked a crappie in a rattle trap and caught a dink on a shakey head. There was another angler on the other side, I hope he did better than I.
  3. Just look for a big boy with a goatee..........
  4. Ron, daughters is doing great. Slomoe,Looking to hit Mercer in the A.M. Let me know.
  5. Thanksgiving morning I'm going to get out "early"and wet a line. Who's coming?
  6. I have fished it many times, now is not good. Water level is still way low. I used to fish it alot back when I first got serious about bass fishing. It holds both small and large mouths. They have closed of all boat access to the lake. Fishing from a boat is still possible if your willing to carry it a ways. Years ago I had a day that was incredible. Last spring I caught a 3lbs smallie on a senko. 5-6 pound largies are regular.
  7. Ron , nice fish. Are you guys using digital scale. I need to get mine checked. Mine is reading way lite based on you pics.
  8. All fish caught on a shakey head rig. The key was location. It seems everyone is blinded by the dam or stumps. You got to go where there is no path. During the early spring I caught one 7+ and regularly catch 3-5 pounders. Now I have been in dink city more times than not, but alot of that has to do with the bait I'm throwing at the time. Buzzbaits seem to ba a big fish bait and 3/8 or larger spinner baits. Also try larger soft plastics, it will cut down on the numbers caught but will increase the average size. Throw the full size Brush hog and 6 inch Senko's. Give me a shout/PM and we'll try to set something up for next weekend. Anyone else game?
  9. Did I mention I froze "IT" off?
  10. Pk, finished the morning at Mercer with 7 total. 2 keepers and 5 lil' ones. I lost a big one shortly after hooking it. Would have liked to seen that one. Let me know when you can get out.
  11. I go in off of Wagon Trail Lane and make the walk to the water. Thats the end I'll be at. Pk, try to make it, I seem to have some great luck there. It's all a matter of will power.
  12. I'm going to be hitting Mercer in the morning, early. About 7 A.m. till noon. Anyone else game? Just look for a big boy with a goatee and a fishing pole.
  13. Lake Braddock is a private lake, I have been approched by the pond nazi's before. Thankfully I have written permission, oh and I'm buddies with Trevor. I did catch a dink on a spinnerbait and 3 on the shakey head. I think Trevor and I would have caught alot more fish if I had more than 1 shakey head in my tackle bag and rigging it with a senko. Aa drop shot woulda been the ringer though.
  14. Depends on the air temps, the fall transition iseems to be the best time of the year for me. Try a crankbait or spinnerbait.
  15. The only question I have is. Does it have a Alum or graphite frame. I have never owned a reel with a graphite frame the was worth a cr@p.
  16. I own the Extreem Lite and love this little reel. It handles all my finesse baitcasting needs. I have had my eye on the Prolite, but until I have a problem with the Extreem lite. I won't be replacing it. If the Prolite is any better, it's one heck of a finesse reel.Hope it helps.
  17. pkschul, when you get you inflatable. Huntsman is a lake that comes alive when in a boat. I found a spot and yes i'll call it a sweet spot. You have to be in a boat, it's kinda in the middle. I'll take you there and point it out some time.
  18. I went to Barton the other morning and landed 2 keepers. The largest close to 4.5 and the other close to 2 lbs. Both caught with a spinnerbait near the dam. This is the time of the year to catch a huge stringer.
  19. Wait a second, now we are keeping secrets on pond location....... :'(...........I think I know where that one is.
  20. Boats are allowed as long as it's paddle power only. The problem is launching, you have to carry it to the water.
  21. Wait until it gets so bad you can't even button your pants.........Then you will need to get a cortizone shot, ouch. On the serious side, get in contact with a physical therapist and get some stretch's and exercises.
  22. Barton is public and very hit or miss. I've had great days and bad days. This time of year would probably be good. throw some cranks around the dam area and Fat Ika's around the weeds.
  23. The best way to discribe it is. "Take BPS and Gander Mountian, loose the BS. Stock only what counts, then you have Greentop." If your looking for only the good stuff, Greentop is all you'll need.
  24. Cool car,but a pain to work on. I would love to meet him at a stop light in my Nova...... It would be motor only, i promise!
  25. I catch bass in the 2-4 pound range there on a regular basis, my neighborhood backs right up to it. A freind of mine caught a bass 9+ pound 3 years ago, took pictures and put her back. The lake has been getting alot of pressure in the past few years, but fishing can still be great. Like I said before, fish in spots that don't have a path beatin to it.
