FG or Albright? Can't make up my mind.
I recently watched an interview with a pro angler; when questioned about knots, he said he uses the FG, but does not use nearly the standard number of 22 wraps. I have not tried it yet.

Spinnerbait With Counter Rotating Blades
I have a couple of buzzbaits with counter rotating blades which I bought 2-3 years ago but don't remember the brand; my point being, if you can track down the buzzbaits, the same co. may make a spinnerbait.

Winter 2025 ~ 2026
Fun is just beginning here, most streets are practically trackless since last night; snow plows have not begun. Plus 10 degrees, predicted to drop to 0. Wintery mix and ice coming with 4 more inches of snow, maybe 40 feet, depending on one's interpretation of the forecasts. Good news is we'll have a short winter because winter did not arrive until 3 days ago. Don't know how I ever survived living most of my life "Up North". Stay warm, y'alls.

Can you tie an FG Knot?
Adds a minor amount of stiffness; depends on how much is applied. I don't use any leaders long enough to sit on the spool.

Noco boost question
Thanks for this topic, it really caught my attention. After reading everyone's comments and running some questions past Jig Man, I contacted the manufacturer for further confirmation on what size would be needed for my Merc 250. They recommended the GB40 since I don't have Lithium batteries, and for multi-purpose use and larger equipment, the GB70, like A-Jay's. I have a jump switch on my boat which so far I have never used, but a GB40 on board for additional low cost peace of mind makes sense. I've been stuck and inoperative on the water twice; once when the battery in my remote starter went dead, and again when a power pole fuse burned out with the poles deployed. I advise others to carry backups for these 2 items.

Noco boost question
I also have a jump switch in my boat, as yet no need to try it. I have a Merc 250; in your opinion and experience, do you have confidence the jump switch will not fail if needed? I keep a small booster pack in my Trout boat which works with the Yamaha 20, but not my truck, and probably not the 250. This is an interesting topic.

FG or Albright? Can't make up my mind.
Used the Alberto for quite awhile, but after much practice I am able to tie the FG in the same amount of time; had to discover a method which works for me.

The latest sale thread
I checked out the BOGO at The Hookup a couple days ago; 0 stock on all colors of my favorite jerkbait, Lucky Craft Slim Pointer size 97. Seemed kinda' suspicious to me.

What are the most extreme conditions you've ever fished in?
So have I, but now I'm older and wiser. I can remember wade fishing and being caught in a lightning storm like that, about 2 miles from my car; I probably set an unofficial record for how fast someone can run that distance in waders. Scary as H_LL!

Last decent day in the foreseeable future
Very impressive for those conditions. What was your Ned Rig setup?

What are the most extreme conditions you've ever fished in?
You must be very young.

What are the most extreme conditions you've ever fished in?
I'm retired and live on a lake; I can go out whenever I wish, and that is exactly why I do not venture out in uncomfortable conditions.

Can you tie an FG Knot?
No issues with the hitches coming loose since I began using Knot Sense.

Planning a trip for 2027
If you are feeling adventurous and want to exploit other fresh water species than Bass, look up Reindeer Lake Lodge in northwest Saskatchewan; first class accommodations, huge Northern Pike, Walleye are so plentiful they can become pests, and Lake Trout for dessert. Action usually begins immediately at ice out in June.

Winter 2025 ~ 2026
I've fished in those temps as well, but that's past history. Now days, by the date you are displaying, I'll have been wearing T shirts and shorts for about a month and a half (probably). Don't blame you for having an annual wintertime retreat to Mexico.

Winter 2025 ~ 2026
I lived in southwestern Michigan for about 5 years, right on the lake's edge. You are right about "certain" seasons being pretty nice, but I also remember the "not so nice"; mostly resulting from extreme snowfalls. After living in Arkansas for two years I sold my snowblower to a friend who was going to give it to his kids in Michigan.

Winter 2025 ~ 2026
Anyone but me lose tolerance for cold weather as the years go by? I've lived in 5 states, with my final stop being here, in northern Arkansas, the furthest south I've called home. Hunting, trapping, fishing, and partying, cold weather would not slow me down; until now. The winters here are shorter and more moderate than anywhere I've lived before, but I seldom place a rod and reel in my hand when the temps drop below 50, and never below 45.

Do you want the latest greatest?
Agree with you about the Bronzeback; I own 2 which I bought new. I keep looking at used Loomis rods, garage sales, and estate sales, but never see them.

Can you tie an FG Knot?
Several years of frustration and failures, finally improvised a method that works for me. I lay the rod flat on my 8 foot billiard table and weight the tip down with a box of lures. Sitting on a bar stool with the reel end about 1 foot away, I tie a small knot in the braid and put it between my teeth. Now I am able to keep constant pressure on the braid and tie the knot right in front of my nose. My line no longer breaks at the knot and that little bump when it passes through the tip guide is eliminated. Like I said, it works for me.

UPGRADING ELECTRONICS, BUT WANTING TO GET SOMETHING FOR WHAT I HAVE .
I have Lowrance 5 year old Ghost trolling motor, 12 and 16 inch flush mounted Lowrance screens. All were newest and top of the line which I ordered with my new Vexus. I am considering an upgrade to all, but I paid a lot of money for the units and they really have nothing wrong with them. Not being willing to just retire them to a corner of my garage or give them away, what can I do to receive value for them? Anyone with the same experience?

Re-Covering a Worn Steering Wheel Cover
Hopefully I just came up with my own solution. I was daydreaming about the 1950's and early 1960's when I was a competitive tennis player (nationally ranked in 1962). I would put new grips on my raquets with a product called Tennis Racquet Overgrip; still popular today. I have placed an order through Amazon and will comment on how it works out. I also noticed that similar products exist for baseball bats, golf clubs, and hockey sticks.

Oval split rings??
Mine too; I wish more lure makers would get away from the round ones.
