Who's the hardest core angler at Bass Resource?

Featured Replies

Who do you think is the hardest core angler at Bass Resource? You may nominate yourself, but whomever you nominate, please explain your choice.

I nominate @TnRiver46. He posts in Latest Trip Reports more than anyone and he posts 12 months a year. Plus, he fishes from every kind of boat, he wades, and he shore fishes. I've seen snow in many of his trip reports and he gets bonus points from me for fishing for multiple species. He's hardcore.

My second place nomination is @Lottabass. Al, like me, is limited by age, but he still fishes a LOT and he fishes where he's the only one, which is hardcore when you're old. It's a little like the old "Alien," the movie, line: On a lonely pond, no one can hear you scream. He also fishes deep into the fall and he gets points from me for fishing small, i.e. from a small boat, but catching big.

Hands down SwampGirl!

She kicks all of our you know what. Her numbers speak for them self. Is there anyone here who catches more fish than her?

Prove it!

She's number 1 by far around here in my opinion. So if anyone catches more fish than her by numbers show us. Otherwise, I think she gets top spot on this one.

My all star crew would probably be AJ, you, TnRiver, Pat Brown, and @Gutierrez. The first four because of results and environment. Gutierrez because of those reasons. Also I've fished with him, and he will paddle that hobie for distances 99% of folks reserve for a four-stroke

Thank you, but @Bluebasser86 catches both more fish and bigger fish, so I'm adding him to my list. He also fishes 12 months a year and fishes from a small boat. Like Russ, he fishes for multiple species too, catching huge catfish, muskies, etc.

If we are talking about very active and enthusiastic as well as dedicated and die-hard, there are quite a few. So many, in fact, that I feel that I could not do a 'list' justice, so I will not start one. However, while I might or might not be part of that deal,

IMO @pdxfisher DEFINITELY IS!

He makes it happen in some very challenging circumstances.

I agree. He's a worthy nominee: big water, small boat, and he fishes through the winter. He's hardcore.

I nominate @Team9nine @Bluebasser86 @TnRiver46 @A-Jay @Swamp Girl @Lottabass @PhishLI @Fried Lemons @Gutierrez @Choporoz @thediscochef @Mike L @pdxfisher @Glenn@N Florida Mike

There’s tons of hammers on here but I see the passion these folks have and the results are undeniable!

I’d have to nominate @Pat Brown @Swamp Girl for the constant drive and really Digging into bass fishing down to the core and understanding the fish and fisheries. And they are absolute hammers.

@Swamp Girl Good question, Katie! What is "hardcore"? Some are restricted by age, ability, opportunity, budget. Some have endless opportunities. But we are all tied together by the love of the fish and its chasing.

I think there are too many to list. BR has the largest bunch of fishing lovers I have ever seen.

What a tough question. The first thing that popped into my head was the question of how to quantify "hardcore". For variety, frequency, and "stick-to-it-iveness" in all conditions my initial picks are @TnRiver46 @Team9nine and @pdxfisher . Throw in consistency, longevity, and knowledge and @TOXIC and @Pat Brown join in. But the obvious choice for any definition of "hardcore" is @Glenn . No one else here has devoted the time, money, energy, and sweat into this sport like he has. This is the devotion we all wish we had.

I want to add one more category to my scoring list. We will call it "legacy". For me, personally, the people on this forum that have most impacted my ability to excel and enjoy in my favorite hobby are @Catt and @WRB-2.0 . Another thank you to my online mentors.

I've got to go with @Swamp Girl and @A-Jay . I pick @Swamp Girl because she's a fellow New Englander and puts up numbers like nobody else with a very simple style. @A-Jay gets my vote because his gear is immaculate and organized with military discipline, which is more my style.

They take opposite approaches to achieve the same goal, where I fish like an organized 3rd grader!

Whereas I appreciate the nominations, I don't think I fish long enough to warrant one. I quit on October 30th in 2025 and I probably won't begin again until mid-April.

Another person worthy of a nomination is the Everglades at night guy. I can't remember his screen name.

You can't help it where you live. You catch the number of bass in one year that I do in ten years (and I fish 2 or 3 days a week) ... you're doing something right and don't have to fish in cold weather.

So true! As organized as Andy is, I'm that disorganized. You've all seen photos of my boats. Chaos!

I agree that being organized is hardcore.

^This^ made me laugh because my tacklebox is a starter box sold to kids! I like it because it's easier to carry through the woods. However, my basement is a small tackle shop.

I'd have to go with @TnRiver46 too. Not because of the quality of fish caught (sorry, it's true), but because of the dedication and frequency.

Honorable mention to @T-Billy . Dude muskie fishes for like 10 hours straight, goes home for 4 hours, sacrifices sleep, meals, showers, and clothes...and then does it again the next day. That's hard core.

  • Global Moderator

Thanks yall. I don’t necessarily feel like it’s hardcore frequently participating in my favorite activity but I appreciate the kind thoughts!

@pdxfisher out there in a swift 50 ft deep river with the wind blowing pedaling a kayak?? Or @Swamp Girl constantly unhooking largemouth from treble hooks in a canoe that has never once dried out? Having to trudge thru a dark swamp to get there ? Or @Fried Lemons chucking huge swimbaits off a paddleboard all day ? And then you have @Bluebasser86 out there in a kayak slaying LMB when it’s snowing sideways with ice on the tree limbs, on a calm day with only 27 mph winds

Now that’s hardcore !

I would say Swamp Girl, because many days, she catches better stringers of bass in Main than I do in Mexico. How is that possible? I would also include A-Jay because he owns the world's biggest collection of Vision 110's. After all, what could be more hard core than owning the best tackle collection? Inthe end the person with the best tackle collection wins. His hard core tackle porn photos are almost as impressive as his giant brown bass videos.
