  1. Things really must be different in the SE. We have spots, smallies and largemouth in all of our lakes. The spots haven't increased near like the smallmouth in the last decade or so. In fact Table Rock is the only lake with a really good spot population.
  2. I fish quite a few tubes and use spinning gear most of the time. I use 4" tubes with 1/8 and 1/4 oz inserts. For the 1/8 oz I use a Gloomis 6.6' MF For the 1/4 oz I use a St. Croix 6.6' MF
  3. You are right Cart. I'm afraid that Champion is doomed to oblivion if not sold. It has hit into the Ranger market for several years eventhough their budget was threadbare.
  4. I talked with a former Genmar company president yesterday. He feels that this is an Irwin takeover and we'll see one of the major lines go away while Stratos and Ranger will stay.
  5. That breaks my heart. Is he still a contender for buying them out?
  6. If you fish hard and where it is windy you better get the 27 series batteries. Get the most reserve amps you can buy (180-200).
  7. BOGA GRIP and be done with it.
  8. Aluminum: lighter weight, smaller engine can push, hard to position and keep in place in wind or current, most have a rough ride. Fiberglass: heavier, need more hp, lost easier to control, much smoother ride, lots more stable fishing platform. That said if you buy aluminum and want to get as close to glass as possible in the ride, get an Xpress. However, you will still have the unstable fishing platform, movement and control problems when the wind blows.
  9. Jacobs is already a 40% share holder. He'll probably wind up with the whole ball of wax at a bargain.
  10. You could hook up 3 batteries in parallel but I for one wouldn't do it.
  11. If you know a good wrench turner, a rebuild would be your least expensive way to go. A friend of mine just had a 200 EFI bored .015 and it is running like a charm. His total outlay was $3000.

Looks good on that poison tail head.
  13. Contrary to what has been stated some trailers need to be glued depending on the type of trailer and the configuration of the jig head. If you want them to hold and have the application be painless and never messy, use super glue gel.
  14. Gloomis IMX rods are in that range.
  15. My motor came with one. My tech says empty at 6 months, refill, then replace with a new on each year. That is what I have been doing for the last 7 years.
  16. I have been keeping a log for a lot of years. I keep it on the computer and log at the end of each trip. I use microsoft data base so I can run filters to extract different types of information. Here is some of the stuff I track. Launch site day or night moon phase water temp frontal condition water level trolling motor operator depth of fish air temp wind speed wind direction productive baits best bait colors number of fish number of keepers number of lunkers if any
  17. I drove a 170 miles to the nearest Cabela's to buy the Guide Wear. It did not fit me worth a darn so I didn't buy it. Later I drove 15 miles to Bass Pro and bought the 100 mph. It is the best stuff I have ever owned. BTW: I'd be willing to bet that if you took your bibs to BPS and asked them how to stop the leak, they'd hand you new bibs and say, "Leak stopped." At least they would at the Spfld. MO main store.
  18. In today's world the companies have done a lot to lessen warranty issues by coming up with forumlas that are specifically designed to run in their engines. I personally would not change.
  19. Your options will probably vary as to your location and your state's laws. Did you get the hour info in writing or have any witnesses when it was told to you?
  20. I have tried most all of the knots and found most lacking. Avid put me on the Alberto's knot a year or so ago. It is all it use now for attaching 2 lines.
  21. I usually have 3 or 4 jigs and at least 2 tubes tied on and alternate them until I find out the bite. My opinion is the jig will produce bigger fish day in and day out than the tube, except for smallies.
  22. Have you checked out the molds at Do-It?
  23. Most of the time I can clean my clutchs and make them as good as new. I have however, worn 2 of them completely out and had to buy replacements. The replacements were only about $15@.
  24. White has always been a good tube color for me in the late fall and early winter. I haven't used them yet because my boat is in the glass shop, but when it gets back they will go for a swim.
