  1. Swing head Texas rigged shouldn’t be an issue from the bank. I stroke a jig or tube and can cover a decent amount of water.
  2. Looks like green pumpkin orange. Pretty tried and true. It works for sure.
  3. Since you aren’t planning on using it until spring I’d check out Black Friday deals and maybe get a really good deal on a better rod.
  4. I switched to braid too long fluoro leader and that’s by far my favorite. Great casting and sensitivity. And the other nice thing about spinning gear is you can use many different knots and it casts great and lasts a long time. I usually use uni to uni or blood knot on my spinning set up.
  5. I agree with your assessment including me being defensive. The topic I guess was vague because I continually see ( usuallya certain person or two) make the broad statement about adding another knot I guess but I hear where you are coming from
  6. Difficult to tie the fg under fishing conditions… I tie it from a kayak in any condition. Ever consider it’s just you? It’s not hard whatsoever.
  7. What didn’t you get? Maybe you are new to the forums in that case sorry
  8. The fg knot and other knots get continually put down on this forum. I’ve literally (and I know what literally actually means) never once had a main line to leader failure. I like the handling of braid and pick my leader based on a few factors. The idea of this post is to encourage others to try and figure out what works for them. As I learn more and try different things I’m more confident to realize I can figure out what works for me and experiment. Happy Labor Day everyone!
  9. Tatula sv’s are really good for the money. I own four and all going strong. They will certainly help with backlash.
  10. Metanium mgl 150 b … I just love that reel. I have some zillions and I prefer the metanium in casting and smooth retrieval. I’m sure steez reels are really great I just don’t own one to comment.
  11. Absolutely take the nrx. But counter offer and see if they will give you the 873 crr! lol
  12. Thought maybe OutKast tackle chicken jig… but grats on the reel!
  13. My favorite bottom contact rod that I have owned is nrx 873crr but I’ve heard the 893 is very good as well.
  14. Glad I started this topic interesting to see how many enjoy the ffs I’m actually surprised. Thanks for all the responses!!
  15. Would go strike king. I use the plastics a ton and although their hard baits aren’t my favorites they are certainly good. The bonus points would be I wouldn’t be losing 20$ megabass to pike lol
  16. The first rod I bought when I got back into bass fishing was the last generation 7’1” mojo bass spinning. Great rod zero issues… it has been gifted and still going strong. I personally think that would be a good choice, you are bank fishing the extra length will give you a bit more casting distance. Or bump it up to a tatula elite for an extra 20$. Good luck!
  17. I personally have more fun watching tournaments where multiple techniques are in play. Curious what the people who watch tournaments think. I really like the one or two they do a year where both largemouth and smallmouth are in play and kinda make it more a chess match.
  18. I always have some with but seem to use them only once in a while. Have had some fun days throwing them though!
  19. I usually take about five on my kayak but sometimes I’ll just grab two or three. Always grab my 873 crr, other spot or two would probably be my 852 spinning and third rod if I’m taking a third would probably be a crankbait rod. So minimum I take is two but probably more common for me to grab three.
  20. Owned multiple lines of St. Croix not one issue…zero. I feel like sometimes one person says something and the parrots repeat. Just like the knot boogie man who lurks on this forum ready to fail every other cast…people made up their minds on the new line before ever holding them let alone fishing them
  21. Is this a color or what… coulda just googled it regretted posting lol
  22. I also live in Minnesota… maybe they just like junebug here?? No clue
  23. Caught fish on both. Specific reason I usually choose junebug is confidence. Nothing super scientific just confidence and I’m learning how important that is to success in fishing. Both are great though.
