  1. It's working for me, in Florida of all places.
  2. Do you need 200 yards of 6lb line, or 35 inches per crank speed? If not check out the jdm stradics. I find their shallow spools to still hold plenty of line especially if you use braid, and the 28 inches per crank on the jdm reels is a better all around speed if you also throw any chuck n wind lures.
  3. I usuually spin the spool by hand to loosen the line, I don't miss the switch on my stradic fl's, never really used them anyhow.
  4. If you meant the spro kgb chad shad, no, but at 2.4oz it should be a great rod for it especially if you work glides with the rod.
  5. This little black and red beauty just showed up on my doorstep, look like the ol' slx bfs might get kicked to the curb soon.
  6. The zillion is great and all, but if I could trade mine for another alphas I'd do it right now. When you factor in it has the free floating spool just like the zillion it's a better value imo especially at the $175 you can get it for right now. I've got a lightweight kkr alphas 800 spool inbound from AE, can't wait to see how it responds to a lighter spool. Edit: meant to quote you softwateronly.
  7. Where you getting blue daiwa parts at?
  8. Daiwa Alphas sv tw 800; lighter, lower profile and cheaper than the zillion, seriously underrated reel imo
  9. I’d classify the standard tatula 100 as a power fishing reel, definitely not finesse oriented, line capacity is a clue, it would be great for spinnerbaits although I’d look to one of the sv variants if the cranks you’ll be using will be 5/16oz or lighter.
  10. When I'm covering water my main 3 are chatterbaits, walking topwaters, and squarebills. When picking a spot apart my go to lures are the ned rig, flick shake, and neko rig.
  11. I'm very close to ordering that 7' kistler bfs rod, what do you use it for mainly?
  12. The first gloomis rod I ever bought I left in my car on a very hot day, it was over my seat pressed against the roof with a slight bend in it, and that is the shape it stayed in from that day forward. Good thing I got it off a friend used for $75 or I'd have been very po'd. So in my experience, yes they can warp.
  13. He made me tap, this is on it's way to me...
  14. Get the SV, especially if your new to casting reels, it’s all around much more forgiving and easier to control. Read up on how to set the tension control.
  15. I tried a few different methods over the course of several years but never quite gained confidence in it and always went back to the alberto. I revisited again several years ago using Ott DeFoe's method with a loop attached to the reel handle, this one clicked with me after a few tweaks. Have yet to have a failure even when breaking off snags, always breaks at the lure.
  16. Residue be gone! The best residue remover for metal 🤘🏻
  17. Arbor knot, 2 layers/passes with similar diameter mono, back2back uni knot to main line, never had an issue. Edit: Always keep an eye on the spool and repack the line as necessary if you see it laying funny to minimize the chance of backlashes.
  18. It’ll be fine for all that with maybe the exception of the swaver 200, it would probably require lob casting making distance difficult, ymmv I’m making an assumption here. I feel like the 4oz rating on it is a bit optimistic. I’ve only pushed it to 2 1/2oz and it was loading a lot, it felt as if it would be fully loaded by 3oz; 1-3oz would be a more appropriate rating for it imo.
  19. Probably a long shot but looking for some intel or general information for an upcoming tournament from anyone who may have fished it recently, or not so recently, any info is appreciated.
  20. For me it’s hands down the husky jerk.
  21. I take gimruis's stance on that one; No. Force. On. Earth. Will. Make. Me. Shiner. Fish. Period.
  22. Hey man, I know a good therapist, she specializes in trauma.
  23. For fun fishing I prefer keeping a small core of confidence techniques/lures, then a secondary "plan B" set of techniques. There is a LOT of room for creativity and adoption to different conditions within most any given technique or lure type. One of the best years I ever had (2019, which also produced my two biggest fish) was a year where over the previous winter, when I lived in Illinois, I formulated a plan to only use 3 types/categories of lures for an entire season; worms, jigs, and swimbaits. Even within this limitation there are a myriad of options and found it was still surprisingly easy to get spun out as you say. Due to work all my fishing this year has been Florida tournament fishing as a back seater which has required me to adopt a different approach but I still find myself trying to find ways to simplify.
  24. Do the Duo's have rattles or silent?
