Conformation that I'll be throwing the jelly worm in 2022. ?

Weighing your tackle box/boxes ???
I can certainly relate. Both of my girls ran track, played tennis and the youngest also played volleyball. As a dad, I knew where priorities needed to be and hunting and fishing were on the back burner for quite some time.....all worth it.

most big bass caught during brightest part of day, 10am to 3pm? doug hannon video
My biggest fish came in the dog days of August in the middle of the day, go figure. Morning top water in warmer months has always been effective and migrate to more finesse fishing in afternoon if the bite slows. Overall , bass fishing is similar to deer hunting where morning and evenings are better. Imo BUT, in colder water temps I prefer afternoons and sunshine.....for me and the fish.

Took reel apart for maintenance, now drag isn't working
This sounds to familiar. I quit pulling the crank side plate many years ago because of this very reason, the reel never worked the same. Yearly maintenance of the worm gears and pulling the spool for cleaning and light oil has proven effective without issue. You'll likely have to send it in as I did.

The Computer Age
61 here and to use the term " struggle " would actually be a compliment to my skill level with computer tech......illiteracy would be a better choice of word. I've never pasted, faxed or drug anything. Lol Now personal work programs that I dealt with on a daily basis using a laptop, I did well as they were structured with my input.

Anyone throwing Manns jelly worms ?
Was helping a friend go through his storage and several boxes had his business name written on them from back in the 80's when he owned a bait & tackle shop. He had a large inventory of jelly worms and crankbaits and gave me quite a few for helping him. Some were 12" Orange worms and I can honestly say, have never thrown an Orange worm or one quite this large. Anyone still a fan of Manns jelly worms ?.....and what about orange?

most big bass caught during brightest part of day, 10am to 3pm? doug hannon video
When I set out to fish, it's usually all day regardless of moon phases, solar eclipse , blue bird skies or whatever. BUT my biggest bass to date was actually in the middle of the day on a culprit worm.

Weighing your tackle box/boxes ???
As I'm prepping for the HIGHLY coveted pre-spawn, hook sharpening, reel maintenance, restocking of preferred baits, I've done something never done before. Wife came into the garage touching and grabbing everything I was trying to accomplish and picked up my tackle box and asked if I carried an extra deep cycle battery. Lol That prompted a trip to the scales, something I've never done before. My single tackle box weighed in at 18.2 lbs. Curious if anyone has actually took the time to weigh their tackle ?

Working to Stay Lean ~
Very impressive my man.....at any age. Thanks for sharing your regimen. Myself at 61, it's all about reps and minimal rest in between, basically strength training X cardio. I personally avoid anything related to power lifting but could perhaps learn a thing or two.

Maybe he just needed a hug
It obviously meant something to him as he was appreciative of your kindness. Hard to tell where this man came from but sounds like my kind of guy.

Passing It On

When did whopper ploppers get fat ?
Gotcha ? So don't make comments like....." Since I bought you you've really let yourself go.

When did whopper ploppers get fat ?
Yes, another great choice. Other than a frog in pads and grass, I've only thrown 3 top water baits in the last several years.......WP, spook and buzzbait and have been content.

Near freezing water temps
I've yet to fish when water temps were under 40*. Went the other day in water that holds both SM and LM with the water temp sitting at 41 - 43* and got introduced to a skunk. Was throwing brush hogs and Jigs in deep submerged cover and managed 1 bite. I've always had great success with hair jigs for SM and would likely be a good place to start if you think you found some holding ground there. Good luck

When did whopper ploppers get fat ?
Thankyou, I've learned something. 1st time buying the 75 and thought perhaps they went with a thicker profile across the line but stand corrected. I've heard many experienced fisherman on this forum that aren't overly impressed with the WP but around here they are quite productive in the clear water hence the reason for additional stock.

When did whopper ploppers get fat ?
In at Bass pro today stocking up and in the process, picked up a few spooks and various size whopper ploppers. Not having bought any in a few years, they've gotten chunky in comparison to previous baits. Here's a comparison, older WP90 on top, new WP75 on bottom.

I'm 42
Do ya'll mind a joke plugged in here ? Lol Guy walks into Doctors office for his annual physical and tells the Doctor that he does not drink, does not smoke, does not eat sweets and does not mess around. He asks the doctor " do you think I'll live forever ? " The Doctor replies " what the hell for ? " My mom told me this years ago. Lol

Flurocarbon knot failure
I do not experience this issue with Sunline sniper using a polamar knot but making sure of no line twist or overlap. Braid to Flouro using an Alberto has also proven itself over time. Yes, I suck on the line like a lollipop.

Cold water finesse jig
Your giving away your age. Lol That's all we used in the 70's and 80's.

I'm 42
Happy birthday, sounds like your living the dream actually. Oh, hope your eyes take a better path than mine. My mom at 93 never needed glasses and I needed readers in my 50's. At 61 I have different glasses for various purposes......shooting & hunting glasses, driving glasses, readers, prescription sunglasses, special glasses to find my glasses, it's that bad. Strange enough, perfect health other than the eyes.

Bass and Carp
Carp may be a necessary specie "idk" but they disrupt my bass fishing during their spawn. They muddy up the coves and startle me like a beaver tail in the night.

Wife Couldn't Understand
Hmmm, trying to wrap my head around this thread. My wife doesn't even know If I bought a new boat unless I take her fishing and she always asks......" when did you get this boat " ? Lol I totally get the respect thing but have never once asked the wife if I could buy something and she does the same. It's worked for 36 years.

Spinnerbaits for Smallies
If I'm covering water looking for Smallmouth, a white spinnerbait has always been my 1st choice around here. Super flukes and Neds also do well.

Any Pelican Bass Raider Owners Out There?
No sir. I simply wired the plug onto trolling motor wiring and plug into the supplied female connection.
