I've literally given them a fair shake. Over submerged cover, countdown on points, bumping stumps, ledges, flats, rocks, grass.......nut'n.

I do a partial tear down, clean re-lube once per year. Attempted once to do a complete disassembly on a high end Shimano casting reel.....it didn't go well.

Never caught a single largemouth bass on a Chatterbait.

Admit being more conservative than the average so haven't bought a rod or a real in over 2 years. This time of year is when I restock soft plastics in bulk which will carry me into next year at this time.

I'm using Fat cow jig strips and haven't had any issues removing them. Uncle Josh was more challenging but you can take a utility knife and slice it for easy removal. What we used years ago were called pig savers but they rusted our jigs, been removing them ever since.

I always remove it and return it to jar.

Sounds like a really nice setup you got there. Yes, sound advice for any young person, invest and don't look back. I've never touched a 6 figure income yet comfortably retired in my 50's on investments alone. It's about the best advice you could offer a young person. If a large purchase prevents one from setting a little coin aside for the future, it may not be wise. Imo

I've found when you combine Braid, spinning tackle and treble hooks/Jerkbaits, it invites line wrap......line wrapping around the trebles. A Flouro leader will mitigate it some but a baitcaster will completely eliminate this. Imo Power pro has been my line of choice and when a leader is preferred, Sunline sniper.

Lol, was fortunate enough to retire at 58 after many years of ambition. Wife is actually the one who said, time to stop. I find retirement to be quite boring to be honest, especially this time of year.
