  1. Living in the mountains, I've tried everything under the sun with limited success. What does work is traps and poisons. The way to secure poison from other critters and pets is to use a container that only mice can access and place the poison inside.
  2. Cotton Candy chartreuse in clear water, wouldn't have thunk it.
  3. Definitely YUM !!! Flounder, Whiting and Catfish are my favorite in that order but never met a fish I didn't like. BUT mystery filets may get my attention. Lol
  4. Not to mention all the tackle dangling from the trees. Spinnerbaits actually have a soothing sound in the breeze......kinda like Grandma's chimes. Lol
  5. Less fishing pressure around here compared to last year by quite a margin but the effects from last year may live on for quite some time. Our smaller lakes have been much less productive due to dwindling fish numbers.
  6. This is actually true and happened recently. Was walking my Border collie on a multipurpose trail and came apon this lady on horseback. She looked concerned and ask " how is your dog with horses? " I replied " mam, I have no idea as he's never ridden one. " She found no humor.
  7. Spectacular photos. Wife and I visited the black mountains and mount Mitchell's couple of months ago, looks very similar.....beautiful country.
  8. Wonder if a whale tail would help with plane ?
  9. Really good fish, thanks for sharing.
  10. Ahhh didn't hear that.....yep, that'll make a difference.
  11. Always carry cash but use a debit card primarily unless traveling, then we use a credit card.
  12. Oddsmaker's aren't Counting out the Chiefs as they have them comfortably favored over Green bay.
  13. Boat size plays a roll also. I had a Vmax 35ah AGM that would push my fishing kayak around all day with moderate use.......bigger boat, bigger battery.
  14. Ha ha, yes lots of talk about spinnerbaits, a top 5 bait of mine for many years. I throw this exact bait in 3/8 95% of the time for LM and same bait in white for SM. Minus the clip.....went back to direct tie.
  15. Oh wow, quite the adventure, the things we endure for a fish. Glad to hear you made it home safely.
  16. The more I fish the more I find bass to be unpredictable. The only consistency I've found was activity related to water temps and here where I fish, 58* was the start of good bite in spring and the start of slow down in fall. I can tell you're perhaps more detailed than the average fisherman, probably some good advice you could offer. For me, simplicity works best which is why water temps dictate baits I throw. 3/8 spinnerbait is my go to this time of year with water temps near 58*. Big baits in spring and fall and downsize in colder months for me but definitely not holy grail. Interesting question that I'll be following.
  17. Will never forget this. Had a cousin who I fished with often and every trip was a tournament in his mind. While the boat was sitting in the water at the ramp and while I'm waiting for him to park the truck I decided to sling a spinnerbait and landed the big fish of the day before we even launched. He said it doesn't count because we weren't in the boat yet......but that's after he went all day without topping it. Lol
  18. Was just there Saturday and heading back in December.....Anna that is.
  19. Amazing !!! Excellent video. That place never disappoints.
  20. Just finished draining all the garden hoses and winterizing the RV. Lol Away to deer camp for 2 weeks and if weather permits, back on the water in December but have to at least have mid day temps into the 50's.......not impossible here.
  21. Congrats on the arrival of what sounds like an AWESOME boat. Just take a pic with your phone from a distance and then enlarge pic as this lowers the MB's, works everytime.
  22. You may be dealing with tackle overload, to much to quick. Learn a few baits and build confidence with them and expand from there. This is a great time of year to catch big fish but it can also produce slow days. I really like spinnerbaits and shad imitations in the fall.
  23. I've never cared for drastic changes in water level but some rise after a hard rain can be really good, perhaps my favorite time to fish in warmer months. On the other end of the spectrum, drastic decrease in water level can turn fish off. Imo Fished a lake last year where the boat ramp was being repaired and to do so, they dropped the lake 4ft in a matter of 2 days.......never had a single bite.
  24. I can tell you first hand that you can't run from age. Just recently sold my fishing kayak due to the inability to stand up and fish or just move around. Bought a boat I could move around in and back is thanking me but still, I've learned to live with a little daily back pain.
  25. 3/8 nickel - willow in white or bluegill, gold blades.
