  1. Very true. Was tired of being heartbroken when fish were dried up the next morning on the floor when mom and dad had a tropical fish store and no covers, mainly oscar's.
  2. Was fishing a pond over the weekend and was having success with a whopper plopper 90 until I snagged a cattail " plant " . Worked the bait free and continued to fish. After missing 4 fish in a row I inspected the bait and noticed it was missing the forward treble hook, the one located in the middle of body. This is surprising when you think how good the hookup ratio is with buzzbaits and only having a single rear hook but a WP was completely ineffective with a single rear treble. The water was clear and actually witnessed a fish hit the center of bait twice while i changed up to twitch. Perhaps I've never paid mind before because never lost a treble on a WP but do remember using a rear hook only hula popper and missed quite a few fish on it.
  3. Only time I will eat a bass is when I can't revive one from a bad hook set and much prefer LM.
  4. Cichlids come from many different regions and were the most popular species in the world of aquaria. They were often recommended for start up aquariums because of how hardy they are. The problem arises when hobbyist fail to due research and find out the fish is out growing the tank and or to aggressive for tank mates " common with cichlids " and think they're doing the right thing by dumping them into local waters. Same story with snakeheads.
  5. Lol. Had them so bad that the eggs hatched before I could make it home and momma was quite territorial.
  6. Since that thing from China.......every lake is pressured. I can't make a long stealthy cast as it will land in someone's lap. Advice: go very early.
  7. Underrated. Amazon?
  8. I use a lot of red hooks for various applications and the more they get used, the less red they are.
  9. Wow, some tough cookies here. I once got bitten by a horse fly while fishing, that's about it.....that's all I got to say about that. Lol BUT, my youngest brother spent the entire week in bed on an epic corribian cruise due to sea sickness.....next time he wore the patch.
  10. We call those water snakes, see one almost everytime out fishing.
  11. South fork is in great shape and beautiful weather this weekend. Kayakers will be out in groves......4th.
  12. Live 15 minutes from Egypt bends but can't say I love it. Lol Gets pressure and lots of 1 eyed bass from hook sets. No large lakes in the proximity so they drop in Egypt bends. Big catfish and 5lb bass can be had though.
  13. The old man I met at the county fair. As I was talking to him I quickly realized this man loved to fish and I invited him out to the farm pond. I told him that the pond didn't hold many good fish as he repeatedly caught 5+lb fish on a big Zara spook. I've been riding his coattail ever since but his health is diminishing.
  14. I can't sit here and tell you a buzzbait needs a trailer, mine do fine without. Idk
  15. Always enjoyed seeing a 1st time winner and they did so with authority.

    VERY nice replica.
  17. Yes, the backing won't effect the sensitivity of the braid, that job belongs to the rod.
  18. I do the same as you'll actually gain a fish or 2 by this procedure. If a buzzbait is allowed to sink on the cast, it may take as much as 4ft to surface......not likey to entice a bite.
  19. Yeah, I never drink in the boat and no desire during the day but come evening.....it's on like donkey Kong.
  20. Didn't realize that many residents in the PNW didn't have or didn't require AC in their homes. Those with RV's are actually living in them because of AC at the present. Must admit, we're not at those extremes but upper 90's is still very uncomfortable when you add humidity.......it shall pass.
  21. Not the band, for you old folks. Lol These temps and humidity are extreme and find myself sheltered inside all day. I do open the garage door every once in a while and fire a few rounds with PCP's and back inside. My brother is a logger and a roofer " one tough cookie " and told me today that the shingles were so hot, they were sticking to his fingers. How many are dealing with this heat and how are you coping ?
  22. I can't relate to fish with a drinking problem BUT I can relate to......fishing with a drinking problem.
  23. Sounds like it just may be a reel with a very slow gear ratio or a very flimsy rod. Much prefer to throw a buzzbait on a baitcaster.....it's buzzing as soon as it hits the water.
  24. Shimano BEASTMASTER......just to see if one could get use to it. But in reality, no way I pay that.
  25. Welcome from VA also.
