  1. Went to a farm pond this morning that was loaded with Crappie, had fun with jigs.
  2. Just last year in late August the wife and I were camping on a lake in WV for 2 weeks. The first few days I was trying to figure out this lake, looking for a pattern. It was slow until I tied on a Ned which did just ok in the past. Threw it a little different and have been extremely fond of it since. Why it catches so many fish and some with size ❓idk But I have a dedicated rod and reel for it and it stays at the top of my rod locker. Going to the same lake again this year in late August for 2 weeks but this time I'll know what to throw from the git-go. 😁

Nice bass 👍 A Mepps #3 is in my arsenal for several reasons, It catches everything, fun to throw and can call on it as a skunk killer.

More often than not, I usually have movement on the bite with T-rig bait. The Bass pick it up and go and that's where I set the hook. It's worked so no reason to overthink.
  5. Pre-spawn: Spinnerbait - flukes - jigs - t-rig lizards. When the water warms up: Ned - Flickshake - drop-shot
  6. I know the feeling. Have always been a dog and cat lover to the core and losing them has always been devastating 😞 RIP Bob.
  7. Rig everything at home vs on the water = more casts = more fish. I'm a fanatic on a straight worm, Ned , fluke or any soft plastic for that matter and will re-hook over again until it's perfect. Don't fish with LOUD TALKATIVE fisherman. Took a long time highschool friend fishing and he was so loud with jokes and laughter that we skunked during the prime of fishing season......no joke.
  8. Got out this morning to a brisk wind and 28* but the recent warm weather had the water temp at 55*. These were the best fish of the day caught on bladed jigs and flukes.
  9. I get VA / WV fishing license every year, never fished anywhere else. VA is a rolling year while WV is a calendar year.
  10. Very irratic here also with 50* swings in temperature. Heading out Tuesday regardless.
  11. Amazon has them, over $30 😳
  12. I've used Power Pro since their introduction and haven't found a reason to explore other options.
  13. I throw a fairly large buzzbait and grin when it goes through the air like a knuckleball. Throw mine on a Shimano SLX, a more modest approach.
  14. I have a 2-bank for lithium onboard for 24v trolling motor. Single bank for lead acid starting battery onboard opposite side. When you say " not permanently mounted " is it already hooked up to the batteries and just laying in there ❓
  15. Fish 10 - 15 lakes per year. Average is 2-3 hour round trip. Favorite lakes are 7 hour round trip so end up camping when I get there and stay up to 2 weeks.
  16. Only hard bait that I'm certain that exceeded $10 is a Spro jerkbait and while it's a fine bait, does not out fish my Lucky Craft pointers. Never heard a bad report on the 110's but yet to drop $20+ on a single bait...... probably should rethink.
  17. Went fishing with a guy back in the early 70's who was a NASCAR fanatic. All I heard was the radio screaming and him screaming when Cale Yarborough won.......he was a Petty fan 😁 That did it ! I won't fish with anyone who isn't a fan of silence.
  18. My 2021 Lowe Stinger is garage kept but when I get caught in heavy rain, the hatches allow some water penetration. In picture you provided looks like a live well and if so, You can't store fishing tackle in there that you don't mind getting wet. The problem is that water will pool up with the plug in. With the plug out, water will migrate up the drain tube while the boat sits in the water. If you must, dry bags work wonderful. All other hatches self drain.
  19. 1st time out in 2026 and caught 1 fish on a spinnerbait in 4 hours. Water temp 49*
  20. It has happened with other hobbies but can't say I've experienced it with fishing. I started a little saying a couple of years ago that really took off locally and one that I try to adhere to. " You have to redline until you flatline " I feel like at my age I've been blessed with incredible health and not taking it for granite. The mental side of it is as important as the physical. Enjoy what you have.
  21. It's dependent upon conditions, nothing is set in stone. I put more fish in the boat throwing finesse in our clear water but wind may force a heavier presentation. A perfect scenario would be to start with a buzzbait, spinnerbait and fluke and as the sun rises, find them with a Flickshake, Ned and drop-shot.
  22. Wake baits. I bought a few and hate throwing them. So many other baits that disrupt the surface that catch fish.
  23. Sorry to hear this but it serves as a wake up call to us older fellows. Prayers for a successful surgery and recovery.
  24. I don't like wind and I'm very slow so pick days with wind in mind. Much prefer to mechanically move the boat vs drifting.
