Speed always will put a s----h---i---t eating ;D on any mans face. Way to go oh to let you know some history on Hp of OB engines... back in the day they would rate them at the engine not the prop. So your Cry 70 was really a 55hp at the prop and your newer Johnson is a true 70 hp at the prop. Have fun and jump to a 115 inline 6 when you get a chance. You will see a huge diff in your ;D

Its BS If you hit something in the water 9 times out of 10 your lower unit will hit it. Damage will occure to either one or both. You what to know what kills a lower unit with out hitting it on something? Improper shifting or shifting in a high RPM range. not changing your gear oil etc

This pic was taken on lake travis in Texas ..... What happen was this hydro V-drive was set up for a photo shoot and my home boy did not put his bildge pump in. He ran the boat after the photo shoot and did not park it with the nose out but with it to the side. a Big baja came by and wake it... the first one almost sunk it and the 2nd one fishished the job.... he got it out with fuel burns from the gas leaking out of the fuel tanks. All the members of THB jumped in and helped him with it. He blew the engine after he got it out. he thinks one of the cyl was hot when the water got into the block. i just though you guys would get a kick out of it. i have more picture of sunken jets if ya want it see them lol

new boat trailers should have bearing buddies on it if not remove the cap and take it to your local trailer supply store and get a pair of them... Also you might as well have them check or do it your self... its not hard. i can talk you through it.

You got to sand them first then put your teak oil on. if its not teak get rid of it

well you take your trailer to a auto shop and have them check the tires.

can some one take a picture of a sign that says no power loading .... i want to see it for my own two eyes and what lake dont let you do a power load or is it a state thing?

I got a good one.....we have a huge problem with kids swiming at the boat ramp. (No swiming at the Ramp) also no fishing at the ramp dont know how many time i would come in and there fishing of the dock and in the way. As far a power loading... i do because i dont have a strap to pull her in with i got a bar that locks the bow eye. i do want to change it though. but i do let my girl hammer it either just slow adjustments

i was getting water like that but i did not have a speedo tube I don't understand boat was kept inside and never rained on it did it in calm water or rough water well to end a short story i put her in the paster and got me a jet oh by the way just started leaking from the bowl gasket

post up some pics of your project boat and i may know some one who can make you what you want but it will cost you... cheaper to go back to wood. Not sure about the leaks but i guess you could use a good marine silicone its not like you will be hauling a$$ across the water in it right. Are you going to put a motor on it?

the last two post are correct .......can you remove the caps? if so check the level of the acid it might be low... add only distilled water if low to fill mark. if you can hit it with a good load tester it will kick off all the crap off the plates and give it longer life.

is your hitch and your ball rusted up? thats part of the grounding system. wires may look good but they could be shot in side. Make sure your hitch and ball are grounding out and make sure you have a good ground on your trailer comming off your plug.

Thats what i was going to ask Hell i was GPS two diff times and got two speeds Mid Oct last year gps at 59 Mid Nov last year gps at 64 Cooler weater and water conditions will have a effect on your speed. I have never seen a bass boat take it easy in rough water alway running hard Ohhh you could try some speed coat ....some say it works some say it dont..... but my boat has it.

do a Compression test on the engine, you should not have more that 10% diff between cyl.... Do it hot and cold also do a leak down. a broken ring can make some noise but so could a bad rod. Pull the plug again and if you can the head check the cly wall.

is it dead it looks like the head is shot off.... Could be a Cotton mouth but i would need a better pic of the head. Not all of them are dark in color ran a cross one in La on pipeline.

Most hunters like the 12 gauge due to the fact they can not hit the side of a barn with a German 88 a 20 gauge makes it tougher on you as a hunter....i hunt bird with my youth model 20 gaude still to day and i have all the high power 12 gauges. Also check your loads that you are buying make sure you are matching it with the game.... but if you are going after turkey i must say step up to a 12 gauge that will take the 3" I dont like autos becasue once again its cheating pumps are the way to go. just my .02

damm it boy.... try this change the cup to a full and add blow out holes if that is done you need to drop the pitch... check what and why thats not going to help you out of the hole. Either you have top end or hole shot then you have the middle road. you can not have both at the same time on a prop.... and if you want some real good answers write to the byuboyz at byuboyz.com there the OB guys who race here in Texas or you can call Greg Moss at Moss Marine in Kemha Tx i think i spelled that right.
