  1. I could be totally wrong, but most big fish (DD) are caught on larger type swim baits resembling trout. Is this totally off base?
  2. Maybe hire a big fish guide. Not saying 5 lbs is a small fish, but we have caught a few of those at some small ponds in our area. I'm looking to get in the 7-8 lb range and hopefully that happens in a few weeks with a guide.
  3. In a light spinning set up do you guys prefer going with something like a 6ft 6 (2 piece) or 7" (1 piece)? In a light spinning set up do you guys prefer going with something like a 6ft 6 (2 piece) or 7" (1 piece)?
  4. Darn, I was going to ask you about some fishing pole recommendations.
  5. Can you guys offer me some recommendation for an UL spinning combo that I can use for bass and pan fish with 4lb test? I really want something that I can fly line a worm by itself with no weight. Ideally would like to spend $100 if at all possible. thanks
  6. I appreciate all the comments guys. The 3 that I bought were all Strike King red eye shads from ebay. I think I paid $10.96 each for them.
  7. I know each has it's place, but for small ponds, which would you normally throw? I'd say a squarebill since it floats a bit and has the bill to deflect off the bottom. I've had 3 lipless and lost them all on snags. At $10-15 each, I want something that is easier to fish. A lot of times, I can't see what's on the bottom as the water is so darn dirty. Thanks
  8. I'm not even close to retirement, but if fishing was convenient and I was catching, I would love to fish everyday for an hour or so. I've always dreamed of living somewhere with my own pond, but the way things are going that will never happen. Right now, Its hard to find 30 minutes to myself as I have 4 young kids. Right now, going to work is my sanctuary and time to decompress. I do fish during lunch sometimes knowing full well that the odds of getting skunked are super high. I still enjoy it though. 9. A lot of the good guys are busy right now with tournaments and sponsor obligations. Now I'm looking to go with Pete Marino. Appears to be very experienced at Perris as a pro. Trying to go in a few weeks so I will let you guys know how we do. A lot of the good guys are busy right now with tournaments and sponsor obligations. Now I'm looking to go with Pete Marino. 10. So my son's b-day is next week. I'm thinking of doing a guided trip to Perris this coming weekend. What do you guys think of the bite right now? The guide suggests we wait a few more weeks for water temps to warm up a bit, but just curious if any of you guys have been out there recently? thanks
  11. If anyone has found a way to fish more with 4 kids all under the age of 11, please let me know. My wife thinks it just another hobby for me to spend more hours away from her.
  12. Nice ones. Are you in Socal or Norcal or in between? Having a boat always helps as well. Congrats on what looked to have been a great day!!
  13. It's been a tough winter here in Socal when my son and I only have a few hours to fish and spots are limited. I guess I feel more bad for him since the guy just loves LMB fishing. The look on his face and excitement is like no other. Like most days just to beat the skunk we bring some shrimp along. This was the biggest thing from last week. LOL
  14. Seems like that only works if you are set up for it like those guys were. Once something that big was on my line, I'd cut the line and paddle back to shore like a little girl.
  15. I was throwing a brand new lipless crank bait and the thing flew off across the lake and almost hit a lady on the other side sitting on a bench. I had to play it off and looked around acting like I had no idea where it came from.
  16. Hi ATA, I'm willing to meet you some weekend. I'm all about the numbers after being skunked for the last few months.
  17. skekoam replied to JediAmoeba's topic in Fishing Reports
That's an amazing number. Around my parts, I wouldn't feel comfortable betting more than 10-15 LMB for the year.
  18. I have some GM cut tail worms but not sure there would be enough action on these to swim? Also, what is favored on the rig? Pegged bullet weight? Weightless, or maybe shaky head? thanks for the recommendations guys.
  19. I've tried several baits out during my short span of fishing and enjoy throwing worms the best. Not sure if its because they have caught me the most fish or they are just comfortable for me to use. Normally, I either drag a senko on the bottom or do a slow retrieve with some pops in between. The thing about worms is that I can't cover much water with them so wondering if there is a worm that works with a slow and steady retrieve. Thanks!
  20. If you want to keep fishing, then I'd reconsider the whole proposing thing. ?
  21. Holy Jeebus. He's holding that thing with little effort as well. The last 10 fish I've caught don't even weigh that.
  22. One thing I noticed about bass fishing in Socal, it is tough everywhere unless you get to know a lake and have access to a boat and electronics. Even then, nothing is guaranteed. During these winter months, I go for other species as it is just easier. Best of luck out there.
  23. I need to fish with you. Haven't caught 500 fish in my lifetime. Congrats!!
  24. What swimsuit? ?
  25. Tom, My heartfelt sympathy to you and the family.
