  1. My loss is definitely different than yours but I still lost my son. I had already stopped fishing for 5 years due to time. Afterwards I started looking for something to do as my business tanked and had time to do things. Pretty much I sat on my porch and drank. After a year a friend that also lost his son talked me into trying fishing again. I started but my heart wasn’t and still isn’t really into it. What I do like is because I no longer had the funds for a boat I got a kayak. A big heavy stable kayak that is not easy to paddle. I really enjoy the mile or more paddle for the physical exercise on the way to my fishing spot. So there might Be something out there that will help you find some peace for your head. Good luck Tom. It’s not a easy road ahead no matter what anyone tells you. PM me if you ever want to
  2. My thoughts and sympathy are with you Tom and I can fully understand your reactions. Fishing was something my son and I always did together. Even team tournaments where I could have had a more experienced adult I had my 12yr old son with me. I’m still fishing but it’s not the same. Every spot I go to I can remember what we caught there together. Life will never be the same for you but you are still alive and try your hardest to make the best of it you can. Have you tried to find a grief group or individual counseling? With the right group or person it can help! You can’t do this in your own.
  3. I agree with Dens228 i have a Jackson Big Rig and a small boat trailer to haul it. It’s all setup nicely so all my gear stays in it except for rods. I can launch without a ramp. I have a set of wheels for it so I don’t have to drag it. Next year I think I’ll be adding a bow mount trolling motor to make it easier to fish against the wind. including the trolling motor I’ll have close to $4000 invested but... no boat gas $ no maintenance $ no big tow vehicle $ I get good exercise every time I go out
  4. The couple times I’ve ever cleaned cork grips I’ve used Bonami. Get a wash clothwet, sprinkle some on the cloth and rub the grip down lightly.
  5. I live 1.5 miles from the northend and fish Conesus a lot but have a kayak tournament on Honeoye in a few weeks. That’s why I was asking
  6. Ok now I’ve got it. Thanks. Any brand of adhesive you would recommend?
  7. Thanks but not quite following you when you say drill 2 small holes into the void?
  8. Never knew you were supposed to condition cork. I have a couple rods that I still use that are 30 years old and still look good. Only problem I’ve ever had is the cork shrank and the rod blank could twist inside the handle
  9. Surface temps have been 81 last couple weeks. Only one day last week temp was 72. I thought depth finder was screwing up so I turned it on/off a couple times. Nope still 72. Next day back to 81. Lake turned over I guess
  10. Anyone been on Hemlock or Honeoye Lakes lately? How did you do? I’ve never fished Hemlock Kane haven’t been on Honeoye in 20+ years
  11. Where is that guy Brian that you listed above from?
  12. I’m a noob to chatterbaits. I have some 5” swimbaits. Do I use the whole thing as a trailer or should I cut it in half?
  13. I’ve thought about putting a anchor wizard on my kayak. While drifting through a weedbed if I got a hit I could quick drop the anchor so I could work that spot more I’ve thought about putting a anchor wizard on my kayak. 14. Funny as hell when you set that hook and launch a 10” bass over your head
  15. It’s my favorite way to fish. Won a lot of tournaments doing it. When I stopped owning a boat I got a kayak that is more than stable enough to stand do I can dip the weeds
  16. Spot in the center is for when I only take 1 kayak out
  17. Jetski trailer with carpeted wood bunks or 3” pvc electrical conduit pipe
  18. Oh ok Irondequoit Bay. I’ve only been around 8 months or so
  19. The dump?
  20. The lakes I fish are surrounded by weeds and docks so I start just outside the weed line which is usually 12-16’ deep and that might be 100’ out from shore. I work that outside line mainly but also throw in shallow occasionally.
  21. Thanks it’s ordered
  22. So did my best friend
