  1. That’s the one I just got. Way to small
  2. In my last reply I said all the gaiters ive bought were tight. I forgot I have this one https://pelagicgear.com/products/sunshield-pro-dorado-green?refSrc=4187314552910&nosto=productpage-nosto-1 its light weight, loose fitting except for the elastic at the top to hold it in place. Only problem I had is it got twisted and the little mouth holes ended up on my cheek and I got a sun tan there
  3. Tom all so very true. maybe I just read your post wrong but I lost my son and his girlfriend. And I guess I should clarify about my son. My son while under the influence of booze and drugs killed his girlfriend with a knife. He caused 100’s of people so much pain. He is in prison where he belongs for the rest of his life. My pain isn’t the same as Tom’s but the grief and depression are still real because in my eyes I lost my son that day and a monster took his place. At 33 he was still my baby, my fishing partner and my best friend and that’s gone now. It’s taken me 3 years to put that in writing.
  4. You would think it wouldn’t loosen when it has a nyloc nut on it
  5. Yeah I get that but my kickstand would loosen up where it wouldn’t hold up to ctug
  6. All the buffs I have bought are to tight. They feel like kid sizes and NO I don’t have a big head. Can you share any links to some good fitting buffs please
  7. One thing about the Ctug is the kickstand sucks. It will loosen up and fall over when you need it and you need tools to tighten it up. so I took the stock bolt/nut out and replaced it with a longer bolt and a wingnut. Now I can tighten when needed easier
  8. and I’m in western Ny I was just on Irondequoit Bay last week and they wouldn’t give up. Even after they were in the boat
  9. Very similar experience. 1st kayak was a good one but just not stable enough for me to be comfortable standing. Traded that one within 4 months for a Big Rig. Unless there are whitecaps I’ll be standing all day
  10. Yep did the same thing except I did the diy carts. Built 3. First two broke. Third on I built using 1.5” pvc. It creaks and groans but didn’t break but I know it would have some day. It’s in storage. I wasted more than half the money a Ctug costs. Live and learn I guess. I replaced the stock strap with a better quality cinch strap. It holds better
  11. Totally different here. A 10” rock bass here fights to the death and you’d swear you hooked a 2lb bass
  12. Well we used to call them golden shiners when I was a kid. We used them for pike bait. They weren’t this big though.
  13. edit: whoops. I use a palomar knot. I use a uni knot but I’m a noob when it comes to DS. As far as the hook pointing up - yes it should. You want to hook the fish in the roof of the mouth. So when you tie on, if the hook is pointed down take your line tag end and pass it through the hook eye from the top. That will put the hook in the right direction. Do a search here and you will find a wealth of info on drop shoting
  14. So after reading everyone’s comments, which I thank you very much for, I asked my wife to promise me I was not allowed to go or do anything until I took at least my flyrod to the closest lake to mess with some panfish. I went this morning for about 90 minutes and got a couple 4” bluegills and 3 rudds. Thank you everyone!!
  15. Fished them a lot. My dad and I fished a bay that had a lot of surface weeds. When I saw these baits I bought a couple for us. I was only like 12. It changed the whole way we fished and for the better. Thanks for a great memory of my Dad and I
  16. I was so pumped for this year’s fishing season. Bought 4 reels and 3 rods and a bunch of other stuff. So far this year I’ve been out 3 times and caught fish each time. 1 of the days was a tournament that I did pretty well 12th out of 75 anglers. I get up with no problem and do things around the house or at a friend’s farm. So it’s not like I’m doing nothing. Today is the 3 yr aniv of losing my son and his girlfriend that was like my daughter. In a couple weeks it will be the aniv of losing my best friend. Maybe that’s all there is to it or maybe I just don’t want to go fishing anymore
  17. Yeah I just don’t know what it is. When I had a boat 20 years ago I could always find someone to go with me. But with a the kayak you are always alone and after the last year of lockdowns I might just be tired of being alone. Sounds sappy but …..
  18. I’m at a slow time for my business so I have plenty of time. I live close (minutes) to NY Finger Lakes. But I just can’t push myself out the door to go. Kayak is on the trailer and ready to go. I even bailed out of a tournament today. Sorry just ranting at myself edit to add info: I was so pumped for this year’s fishing season. Bought 4 reels and 3 rods and a bunch of other stuff. 19. Hey Jim Welcome! I'm at the northend on Conesus and also a kayak fisher
  20. Rochester NY had that happening almost daily for a month until it escalated to the car jackers shot a killed a elderly guy for not getting out fast enough. Cops finally caught the jackers. All under 16yr olds
  21. Never tried small of back. 3-4:00 own position is what I use to carry but now only like that for owb in colder weather. I tried aiwb and it just works great for me. Even with a Glock 19. It bulges but not noticeable by others when looking straight into you. Aiwb never bothered me sitting down even 24 hour drives. I learned it’s best to leave your belt a little looser than when carrying in other positions of course it took a few holsters to find one that worked for aiwb
