Wife took me to bps for birthday
Gotta love that. I have already told my wife for my birthday this year I'm not asking for anything but if anybody happens to be wondering I wear a Skeeter size FXR 20 pro

Not tying line to baitcasting spool?
If the spool has holes I tie through there. If KNOT 😂 I use a small piece of electrical tape and tape it to the spool.

Best Wacky Rig Hook
I use the spearpoint GP Finesse. My hookup ratio skyrocketed after I made the switch and when they get on there they stay on there.

Fluoro Thoughts
Flouro used to be pretty bad. As with all things the technology has greatly improved. I used to be a flouro hater myself then I learned how to fish with it. Now I run my spinning rods with flouro for anything under 8lb test and use it for pretty much all but my topwater rod for baitcasting. I used to not care for the brand but after extensive testing on how I like to fish versus flouro performance I have decided on Yozuri T-7 flouro as my go to. I like the way it casts and the way it feels.

Overthinking Hooksets
The only thing I swing for the fences on a hookset is anything with a weedgaurd or a hook buried in plastic.

Gear ratio for squarebills?
My square bill rod is a 6.7:1. I feel anything in the 6s is a good compromise between speed and power for a crankbait.

2027 Bassmaster Classic Will Be At Lake Hartwell Again
I've been to both and you pretty close. Big expo with the only difference being they have a "Watch party" at the expo and the anglers come to the expo where they announce the weights and award the trophy. I will say however the Classic does seem to be a bit larger on the scale than the Redcrest just because you can got to blastoff and the expo and the weigh in in 3 different places.

Spots were schooling hard and mixed in with a school of hybrids. I caught fish till my arm wore out. I caught this one on a Berkley magic swimmer but everything else (including all the mean hybrids) on a BFS. What a day! Probably caught about 40 fish or so. These are the two biggest of the day.

There is not many fish that are more fun to catch than a hybrid. Add in the fact that it was on my BFS rod and it was all I could do to hang onto this rascal.

Broke my boat because I am a dummy.
Got the new transducer from the UPS today. Installed it immediately and went to the lake. 40 fish later I believe everything is ok.

Your fishing prime
I'd like to think. I've still got alot of years ahead of me. I'll be turning 50 this year. I fished alot as a kid but then 20 years in the military kinda kept me busy and I didn't get to fish nowhere near as much as I wanted. Now I eat sleep and breathe fishing and my wife is my biggest fan. If I mention a lake I want to try and fish she does her best to make it happen. If I mention that I need some kind of gear or tackle she does her best to get it for me. I am a lucky man in that department. My biggest hurdle is 20 years of military service and government contracting has pretty much broken my body and I am fighting a never ending battle with the physical limitations side of it.

DeepDive personalized options
The deep dive app is literally the ONLY app I actually pay for on my phone. Well worth the money and well worth the time to learn it.

LiveScope vs Traditional Baits: What Am I Missing?
Booyah has a jerkbait with a spinnerbait blade molded into the top of its head to be picked up by FFS easily. Its's called the Flashpoint.

How many baitcast reels below 6.0:1 do you own?
2 and both are on cranking rigs for crankbaits.

Ned Head weight
I use a 1/8th ounce head 90% of the time and a 3/16th the rest of the time. I've never had any issue.

BFS line
I'm using straight 6 lb. Seaguars red label FC no braid no leader.

Broke my boat because I am a dummy.
I call it a tournament but it was more of a "festival" This was my first outing with this charity and they basically just paired us with a vet and we took them out on the water for your basic fun fishing. Now on to how we did. We started on the main lake points and found nothing so we switched after about 20 minutes and went to one of two bridges in the back of a creek. Caught a bunch of smalls . There were two bridges separated by a spit of land in the creek so we stopped on the point of the spit as we went to the other bridge and got onto a monster school of spotted bass chasing herring. we ended up staying there and following that school around catching fish from 1.5 to 2.5 pounds. Ended up putting 20 or so in the boat for the 3 hours we were out there. After, they fed us lunch of BBQ and gave away raffle prizes. I won a flashlight.

Fishing thick grass tips
You said it goes all the way to the surface. The submerged stuff I mentioned a swim jig. I fish the UV like a topwater through emergent vegetation and I like a swimjig for submergent stuff. Sorry for not clarifying.

Yes sir. Hind sight is 20/20 and at least I didn't hurt the transom.

Fishing thick grass tips
The Ultravibe speed worm is my back pocket go to when I am struggling. That worm rigged weightless, texas style comes through the grass like a ninja and really drives the fish crazy. I upsize to a magnum when I know there are bigguns about

Broke my boat because I am a dummy.
Got home from a tournament and started backing down the driveway. All of a sudden the boat stopped and I gave it some gas and it raised up like it was on something. Ended up backing over my generator I had pulled out to clean up and tore the transducer off of the back of my boat. Now I'm out a 600 dollar generator and a 240 dollar transducer. Believe it or not the wife wasn't too upset with me. She just told me to buy a new transducer and told me things happen. Bottom line? Don't be stupid and leave things out like me. I was in a hurry to get all my gear rigged up before dark last night that I forgot to put the generator away and it costed me. SMH

Thoughts on this Carolina rig setup?
Carolina rig is one of my favorite springtime tools. I usually throw an 8 inch magnum zoom lizard on mine. Alot of people rig a carolina rig alot of different ways but after many years of tinkering, here is what works for me. 30 pound braid mainline with a tungsten worm weight and a PLASTIC bead. The plastic part is very important because tungsten can shatter the glass when you set the hook on a fish. swivel of your choice(I choose a dark colored #2 or #1 size). Then I run approximately 24 inches of 12 pound flouro to a 5/0 offset worm hook(the hook of course should be sized to the bait accordingly). Thoughts on mono or flouro leaders. You can use a mono leader and they work well enough but I feel the stretch and minimal abrasion resistance of mono has caused me to miss more fish than I catch. Flouro is tough and has minimal stretch and I feel is the best choice. How the bait reacts off the bottom can be manipulated alot more by the position of your rod tip than the line itself. Now there is one alternative almost nobody talks about. Copolymer. Copoly has a mostly neutral buoyance and sometimes with a bait and hook combo that is neutral buoyant can really cause bites. Bottom line is there is no right ro wrong and what works for you is what's best. Tinker around and play with your setup in some shallow water so you can watch how it reacts maybe find some shallow weeds to drag and watch then decide what you like the best.
