  1. Thanks for the info...ill keep my eyes peeled for the single barrel BS rye. Sounds yummy!
  2. Do you like any of the ryes?
  3. You know I don't own a single Jack Daniels product. I watch several bourbon channels on YouTube that are always talking them up and I've seen that JD has put out a bunch of interesting bottles the past few years. Next bottle hunt I go on I may have to pick up something from them.
  4. My lady hates whiskey but I showed her this and she said wow that may actually be good. Btw I did a little research on your coffey grain and Coffey refers to the type of still used, the guys last name that invented it, not coffee as in the beverage.
  5. Yeah it ticks me off to. I've been at my job 10 years and in that time I've been late 3 times, twice because of flooding and once because of a blizzard. People that show up late to work all the time usually get what's coming to them, if the management team is doing their job anyway. Friends that constantly disrespect my time don't stay my friends long.
  6. I'm fortunate enough to still have me dad...he just turned 68. He taught me how to fish , how to safely handle a gun and how to throw and hit a baseball. More importantly he taught me the value of hard work, it you want things you work for them because people don't owe you anything. Also instilled toughness in me, he's a very no bulls$%& type of guy that has no problem sticking up for himself or his loved ones. My father is nobody's doormat and I'm very happy that he passed that trait down to me. Honestly both of my parents were and are great...I'm the man I am today because of them. Funny thing is from the age of 15 to about 22 I would have sworn my dad was the dumbest man on the planet. Then one day I woke up and realized he had it figured out and I had my head up my a#$. Now at 40 my relationship with my father is less father and son and more buddy\buddy. Its pretty awesome.
  7. Yeah that's a rough go of it for sure, hopefully things get better for you. Allergic reactions are nothing to mess with. A few years back my girlfriend was experiencing severe stomach cramps and pain, turned out to be her gall bladder we found out much later but at the time they thought it was some digestive condition treatable by medication. They prescribed her ranitidine and she immediately broke out in hives...like everywhere in her ears, mouth and places unmentionable. Never took it again, hasn't had hives since. Last summer we went to a buddy's house for a BBQ. Enjoyed a few beers and the girlfriend had a few seltzers. We get home everything seems normal until she comes to me and asks for help. I ask what's wrong and she says I can't pee. Ended up getting bad enough that I took her to the ER to check her out. They used a catheter on her to give her relief and checked her bladder but couldn't pinpoint it. They sent her home and told me to watch her and bring her in at any sign of trouble. Next morning we woke up and she yells from the bathroom hey I just went fine, no trouble. I asked her if she had ever experienced this before and she said yes last summer once but it wasn't as severe. Thinking back she said you know I had the same seltzer that time. Best we can figure there is some kind of coloring, preservative or sweetener in those seltzers that give her a reaction that causes her bladder to not function.
  8. Interesting...you have my attention
  9. Bottles with sharpie on them can only go one of two ways: make your day or ruin your life. Had a buddy bring some homemade concoction to a party in an empty Beam white label bottle...I said well your not starting off real hot.
  10. Ended up having Tin cup rye last night...its pretty decent for the money. Tonight I started with a little Powers Gold...I'm really enjoying it. Then I had a pour of Rare Breed with some ice...I can get it locally under $50 after tax and im convinced its the best bourbon for the price. oh boy what ya got there?!
  11. Been a long week...time to relax and enjoy a few whiskies. Probably have a nice pour of Powers gold label in a glencairn. Then ill ramp it up with a couple fingers of WT rare breed in a rocks glass with 1 ice cube.
  12. Got a couple songs I don't mind but overall I didn't much care for his music. That said every time I saw him in an interview or read something about him he seemed like a fun, generous guy that got along with almost everybody. R.I.P.
  13. That's kinda what I'm doing now. My best buddy lives in the next town over and he's the only guy I really drink with. I used to haul bottles back and forth but now I've just bought a budget bottle and left it there...current bottle stashed at his place is Old Forester 86. I kinda just wanted the flask for bringing a small amount of something pricier... Woodford double oaked, barrel seagrass, rare breed etc so he can try them.
  14. Considering getting one but I don't know anything about them. In the past few years I've gotten into whiskey and out of beer, and I figured when I'm going to a social function like a BBQ at a buddies house I'd rather bring a small amount in a flask than tote a bottle around. For those of you that own flasks, any recommendations?
  15. Ran up to the biggest liquor store in the area again today and picked up 2 bottles. Found my Powers Gold label Irish whiskey and got a bottle of Tin Cup rye. Wanted Old Forested 100 rye but they were out. I didn't know what to expect from the Tin cup but I was pleasantly surprised. The nose and pallet matched well: some pepper and rye spice along with very present dill notes, finish off with a little sweetness. Not the most refined whiskey I've had but easy sipping and enjoyable. No complaints at $27 for a 750ml. The Powers was everything I hoped for and then some. The nose is purely green apple for me...green apple jolly rancher to be exact. The palate is buttery shortbread ( typical in Irish ), some honey and again the strong candy green apple note but just enough unripe fruit, namely pear plus orange zest to make it just tart enough to knock the sweetness down. Best part is I don't get any metallic note like I get on lower price Irish, which is especially present in Jameson for me. Overall I'm very happy with my purchases. I'm thinking the Powers is my new budget(ish) Irish over Bushmills and Jameson. Yeah its a bit pricier but it is light years ahead in quality as far as my tastes go. I support this!
  16. Can't go wrong with that! Plan to pick up that bottle of Powers gold today...will report back if I do.
  17. Best around here are my girlfriends out of the air fryer or mine off the charcoal grill. Sauce of choice is parmesan garlic.
  18. Solid choices no doubt. Big Lebowski and No Country for old men are d**n near perfect. Fight club was my favorite movie until I was about 25. Oh and Zodiac is extremely underrated in my opinion.
  19. I'm only 40 but that's my kinda music. Love CSNY and Steely Dan amongst others. One of my favorites is The Doors...grew up on it and I never get sick of it.
  20. Im not a big beer guy these days opting for whiskey or Gin&Tonics instead. Also I've got nothing against somebody enjoying a few adult beverages while fishing as long as they aren't getting drunk or acting a fool. That said I can't remember the last time I drank while fishing, I'm too focused on catching fish so I've got no time or desire.
  21. Fair enough be a little while before I can pick one up...closest liquor store that carries it is 50 miles. Ill be sure to post a review when I do.
  22. Its on my list to try, so is 1920 for that matter. But I've kinda gone on a bourbon rampage so my next bottle will be Irish. Think I'm gonna pick up a bottle of Powers gold label. Just call in with explosive diarrhea, problem solved. You have enough Stellas and it won't even be a lie
  23. Never had the 1910 but I'm a big fan of the Woodford double oaked. How does it compare in your opinion? Think the price is close
