Man, I'm lucky, because I was STUPID!!!!!
I feel you here to. Whenever people ask me about drugs and I say don't know I've never even smoked weed the response is usually yeah right whatever dude. Then I look them in the eye and say I'm serious.. Most people just say wow. Hell my dad asked me a while back I said I've never tried it..he just said "really? Never?".

My plan for beating winter blues this year...
So as many of you know I live in the north country which means 3-4 months of ice cover most winters. I do the stuff all you northern guys do read articles ,clean and organize tackle, rods ,reels and order way to much stuff. Also I do ice fish..although I do that less and less every year. This year my best buddy really got into bass fishing and a few weeks ago he asks "what are we gonna do all winter?". Then I came up with an idea. Once a month or so we will get together make some good food, drink some beers and watch old tournaments on YouTube. Kinda treat it like a big football game. Hoping this helps us survive our open water lockout.

Good Inexpensive Spinning Rod
I've got alot of expensive rods but will say that there is nothing wrong with an ugly stick especially for a knock around rod like your talking about. Two of my favorite rods the last several years are a couple 7ft medhvy Berkley shock rods I picked up for super cheap at walmart. $50 normal price..think I paid $26 total for both. My favorite Ned rod this year was an $18 Shakespeare rod.

You Know You're Old When...
I had one of those untrustworthy ones a few days ago. Old lady looks at me with a look of concern..all I could say was that's gonna itch when it dries.

Man, I'm lucky, because I was STUPID!!!!!
Done anything stupid? Um..yeah..lots of times. Started drinking alcohol at 16 to excess. Drove home drunk and wondered in the morning how u even got home. Driven gravel roads and dark back roads way too fast with no seat belt. Not proud of any of it..but it did happen. I've been fortunate in that I never killed anybody or myself. These days I'm older and wiser..I stay away from such dumb activities.

Anybody use these? What baits you like on them?

What have you learned this fishing season?
Learned where to throw it..more importantly how to work it. I swam it much more often than dragging it like a bottom.bait.

Books that impacted you..
I've never been a big reader but as I get older it appeals to me more and more. For you readers out there..what books have you run across that have impacted you significantly? Don't care if its fiction or non fiction...important part is that you walked away from it with a new understanding, perspective or total mindset.

Question regarding the old wiggle warts..
So I've never thrown a wiggle wart but I have always heard how the old ones outperform the new ones because they had a slight mold defect that gave the bait a better hunting action. There must be some truth to this because the old ones go for crazy money on ebay. So my question is this: if storm lures is now Rapala..a company known for making great baits...why haven't they reverse engineered the old baits and redesigned the lure molds to give the new ones that it factor? Surely with the skill level of the designers/engineers/ technology this could be done.

Junk Fisherman
I'm with @Team9nine on this. I feel like junk fishing is about not having a specific pattern...docks, rip rap, brush..and just fishing everything in front of you. Roll up to a dock skip a jig under it..come up to a brush pile and work a spinner bait thru it..hit a stretch of rip rap and grind a square bill down it.

Thats How FedEx Delivered My 10lb Camping Propane Tank
Luckily around here people seem to take more pride in their work than that..I've never seen anything like that. Guy was a total moron..I hope somebody reports him and he loses his job.

What have you learned this fishing season?
This year I learned alot about the Ned rig..I'm now about 400% more effective with it than I was in years prior. I also learned how productive big worms are in brush.

Color that surprised you
I've seen your blue bladed jig sticking out of more than a few mouths on here. I've noticed you mentioning that before..because of that I've got a bottle of lime spike it in my TW cart.
-
Color that surprised you
Have a pack of those in my tacklewarehouse cart as we speak

Color that surprised you
Pretty simple..is there a soft plastic color that you picked up and didn't have high hopes for that really impressed you? For me its been a mudbug color z man trd. I picked up a pack as an experiment and when I got them I was a little unimpressed. Its basically a dark cinnamon brown back with a light cinnamon pearl belly with copper flake...kinda blah looking honestly. But thankfully the fish don't agree and they chomp it. What about you?

Is it almost spring time ?
Right? We had snow, 40mph winds and icy roads on my way to work. We already had a morning last week when the temp was only 18.
