Finesse fishing around grass...
So I have a series of very clear ponds near me that also receive a fair amount of pressure. Because of that finesse seems to shine. In the spring and again in fall i after the weeds die back I do well on a Ned rig but this time of year the weeds make the Ned a pain. Any recommendations on what to throw finesse wise around weeds? Not super thick weeds btw

What are you throwing right now?
Oh I'm hanging bud. I'm catching a few scattered fish...even some nice ones...but can't find a consistent pattern. Ill catch a few in a brush pile on a Texas rig then hit all the other piles and blank. Then ill pull up on a shallow sand flat with scattered rock and get one or two burning a lipless..then hit a spot identical and catch a drum. Saw some busting on shad the other nite...threw a popper, swim jig and lipless to them...nothing. Saw one bust threw a Texas rigged baby brush hog into the shad..sank 2-3 feet then wham 4lber. Tried to duplicate it in several more shad pods after blow ups...nothing.

Kids in the hall...
It aired on HBO from 1989-1995...I kinda remember my dad watching it. It was executive produced by Lorne Michael's...the guy that created SNL.

What are you throwing right now?
Lots of threads lately where guys are lamenting how slow it is right now. Honestly it hadn't been to bad for me until this weekend...the past 3 days have been the worst of the open water season for me since right after ice out. I'm throwing everything I can...moving,bottom,finesse,weightless,topwater..shad color, craw color, gill color. For you guys having success..whats the program been? Any help is much appreciated.

Just found this on HBOmax. I've never really watched out but vaguely remember it from when I was a kid. Anybody a fan?

September Tough
I think your title was autocorrected..I'm positive it was meant to say September sucks!

Does braided really spook fish?
I don't feel like braid spooks fish. I always opt for a leader when using braid for finesse on spinning gear but that is simply because braid has very little abrasion resistance around rock...hence the mono or copolymer leader.

Butt kicking continues(just venting)...
My problem is I like to help people...well decent people who deserve help. But experiences like this will make me tell everybody to jog on. Don't wanna be that guy but I'm sick of getting burned.

Butt kicking continues(just venting)...
Absolutely. I looked when I got to the pond and there was no trash. Then I fished it right after he left...nobody there in the meantime...and the trash was there.

Butt kicking continues(just venting)...
So today I had another tough day. Caught 3 bass in about 5 hours and 3 ponds worth of fishing. The consistent morning bite I had been experiencing dried up a week or two ago and most of my catches are random no pattern fish. To top it off I talked to a young guy ..early 20s id guess..at my local pond two different times this week. He's from out of town so I tried to give him some tips. He paid me back by leaving a pile of ripped up baits(garbage) on my favorite fishing jetty. Made me wanna track him down and teach him a lesson. That's my pet peeve...pieces of trash leaving trash. Sorry had to relieve some pressure.

Feeling bad for my buddy
That blows(absolutely no pun intended)

Which would you buy? SLX, Veritas, Mach
My buddy just picked up an slx at scheels for $79 bucks. Feels like a decent rod but I still prefer a veritas. Especially for $49. Let me ad that I've heard of veritas rod breakage issues but I've had mine for 3 or 4 years and haven't had issues.

The Found Lures Thread
My buddy snagged a Carolina rig today that was made with a barrel swivel...3oz pyramid weight and a fire tiger jointed flicker shad?

So besides the TRD what are a few must haves in your opinion?

Latest Catch Pics Thread
I'm still learning...I've only been throwing it a couple years. Thinking of expanding to more than just the TRDs..trying to decide what baits to add to the Ned line up.

Man you've been on a Ned rig mission!

What do you do to show them 'something different?'
About all I see guys using around here are Texas rigged craws...senkos..keitechs, chatterbaits and whopper ploppers. So I throw ribbon tail and curl tail worms...flipping jigs...spinner baits...swim jigs with menace grubs or single tails and buzzbaits.

I hate the weatherman
Its not really how often they are wrong that's the issue...its how far off they are when its wrong. A few weeks back they said it was gonna be 80 and cloudy here...then the day came and it is was 96 and not a cloud in the sky. That's not even close. My hatred stems from pure jealousy. Who doesn't want a job where you can blatantly lie to people over and over and its completely acceptable?

Got my butt whipped today...
Can usually manage at least a few bass even on tough days. This morning I threw 4 or 5 different things at em and all I could manage was a drum on a lipless. First bass skunk I've had since April.

What are you grilling/smoking with?
I have two primary cookers. A master built electric smoker...the kind that looks like a dorm fridge. Obviously I use it for smoking! Normally either ribs, chicken thighs or pork butt for pulled pork...also made mock burnt ends out of chuck roast once...it was OK. Number 2 is a Phoenix grill. I use it solely for grilling but to be honest its more like roasting since it has a heat shield that completely covers the burners. The good: it is very easy to cook things on it that are hard on traditional gas or charcoal...no flare ups from burgers, poppers, marinades etc. The bad: because there is no direct flame it is hard to get a super good sear on a steak. Would I buy again? Absolutely! That thing is amazing to cook with..very consistent and user friendly. Just gotta know what its limitations are. My next purchase will be a Weber premium charcoal kettle..this will be my weekend steak and chop grill..better flavor and sear capabilities.

Hooked myself (again) today....
A little over a week ago I got hooked past the barb. I was throwing a red eye shad and ended up snagging a buffalo in the back. Got it close to shore and grabbed the line to drag it on the bank. The fish took off and the bait shot back at me smacking me in the forearm. Went to pull the hook back thru my long sleeve shirt and realized hey its stuck in more than the shirt. Clipped the hook off so I could roll the shirt up...grabbed my needle nose and yanked it out. It didn't feel great but I rolled the shirt back down tied on a red eye with a good hooks and went back at it.
