  1. Open water yes Around cover no
  2. Good info, I didnt know any of this was out there, learning every day. Never meant to say it in the context that what you where claiming is anecdotal, though im glad you shared this with me. maybe better phrasing would be "I only have anecdotal on the water experience to support this claim"
  3. Perhaps, hear or feel with lateral lines, don't want to claim things off of anecdotal evidence.
  4. From what I've heard carp can hear line moving through the water.
  5. I tried it on spinning, braid to leader, manageability was great and casting distance did gain 15 extra feet, but I just can't get over the sound and the feeling. The newer 9+ strand ones are much better, but the manageabilities of nylon has also gotten much better. I don't nessesarily mind tying leaders, I just hate the feeling and sound of braid.
  6. JDM reels have 5-1-1 gear ratio, sometimes they dont always have it in stock.
  7. 1000 and 2000 size reels on shimano and diawa are almost identical, usually same body different spool size.
  8. 2000s is the same as 2000, its just shallow spool for lighter lines so you use less line but get the advantages of less memory and better line management.
  9. So many good budget and expensive ul rods, shakesphere microlight is great and imo has a blank that many 60$ uls have. Other notable mentions include Okuma cellios (slower action than shakesphere) Diawa presso (amazing) Shimano sensilite, a true fast action Bps airstream, very delecate have broke two, one my fault one manufacturers fault (broke at ferrule), but maybe slightly better than presso (travel and 2 piece are two different animals, travel is not a true ul. Reels are a different animal, your best bet is diawa for the 50$ pp, won't explain why because it would take all day, shimanos are fine but heavy, every other brand is garbage at that pp, the pfluger included, won't by another again after I tried diawa
  10. I see where your delima arrises, and I cannot think of a line that fills that niche. It may just be the best bet to try fc crank, because I normally just compensate with a power less rod with a more parabolic action or shock leader, which both have obvious downsides.
  11. Main line or leader material? Sunline is one of my favorite brands but cannot reccomend it because ive never used. Another option is seagaur invisx, that stuff is stretcher than most mono, i dont like it for anything really except treblehook baits. Mono has more sensitivity than that stuff. Shock leaders might also interest you, if you mess with braid. Just giving you options Varivas and sunline have set the standard of line for me expecially in specialty lines such as shock leaders, they are built different
  12. awesome info, was looking into picking one up a while ago but they go for alot on ebay, very interesting they have a new version, will check it out, have heard very good thing about them, almost have a cult following like the wiggle wart
  13. How do you like that baby griffin? Good plug?
  14. Yeah, we dont get much except a sharp jab in the eye and a kick in the teeth, And I would think maybe with all that money they would do more trout stockings or even do partnerships with cities like they did long ago and build more SW piers or FW lakes/ponds and provide funding, not quite sure where the money goes nowadays as much. Then many of the lakes you have to pay per trip and thats around 10$, plus boat launches and it can add up.
  15. Crankbait whenever you can get away with it because trebles hook up so much better compared to single hooked baits. Chatterbaits come through grass much better than treblehooks, but cranks come through wood better as well for some reason.
  16. I bent a few back although I see what you mean by epoxy cracking, I think I'll just keep the ones I messed with and send the rest back
  17. I tried it, yes the belly weighted ones fish more true but they also catch tons more grass, take that into consideration
  18. Yeah they suck, live on the desert in unicornifornia and we had one, was 107 and no A/C for 56 hours, and it was labor day so every cool area was closed I'm the county.
  19. Ah, that gives me another idea, I have really thin thin gauge lead, maybe I'll do a few wraps on the front hooks.
  20. I just tried this, i put a little heavier gauge size 10 trebles and a small snap, still ran weird but at least tuned them to run without blowing out
  21. I'm sorry if you have a quam with me, I truly wish we could be friends and not get into catfights , if you ever wishto get to know me better you can always private message me, we fish the same waters. line i ordered from Japan was less than 6$ a spool due to the exchange rates and sales, shipping included, yes I don't like to spend lots of money on fishing, japanese equiptment is cheaper than U.S even compared to a black friday sale. The same line in the U.S runs 13-17 if they have it in usdm version heavy lures on spinning generally this is true, but I was thinking light 1/16th hairjigs, and 1/8th oz dropshot setups Of corse friend, but when it's on the bottom it allows the worm to move more freely.
  22. I will try that, the lip looks straight but out of the box the line ties where all over the place
  23. yes if you are using a small spinning reel, yes nobody, but you answered your question above. thats why I said "generally" you are already seeing this out of japan, Im sure you have too because you seem to have alot of jdm toys. I dont use 500 or even 1000 size reels often for ultralight fishing with the exception being that smaller reels always handle the lightest line best because the tolerances between the roller bearing and frame is too big on larger spinning reels and line will get stuck between, and get freighed or cut. With that said I fish a few 2000S model because bigger spools have line management advantages, thats why bass pro anglers are starting to use 3000 and 3500 spinning reels for heavier line. The more expensive reels have better line bearing tolerances, expecially models from japan, if your getting a pfluger president there is too much gap. Although you are not fishing light enough line for it to make a difference. many lines, Diawas JDM lines, Sunlines JDM lines, Jackalls jdm line, varivas JDM lines, and many more. I use, .13mm is true 3.9lb, so its really 4lb with the stretch of the line over a distance, but marketing in the U.S for lines is bass oriented and they advertise stronger than it is and they dont use a universial rating system like the japanese (GOU). Bass are not line shy but the benefits are as mentioned above, the smaller diameter line handles better on the reel and casts farther, so if in open water why not use it. The thinner diameter also lets the light small DS worms flex more and move more freely without having as much memory as thicker diameter lines. P.S rods in the U.S are super stiff and thick diameter compared to their japanese counterparts, they are the kings of ultralight and make small diameter tipped rods that fling 1< well
