Mental health issues?
Depression and anxiety are not mental illnesses, they are a part of life and natural, we had a time tested culture in the west that prevented these issues, it was destroyed long ago. I won't go much further into detail for obvious reasons.

When Should You NOT Fish a Jig?
I do not fish jigs in heavy topped out grass, punching, and cheese matts. Texas rigs come through much better, I do not fish jigs when trying to locate fish, because I want more bites and less quality, or I will opt for a skirtless jig/ball head... Jigs seem to shine for me around rock, wood, and swimming over and through submerged grass, Texas rig bullets get wedged easily in rock, and the hook will occasionally catch wood sliding out of plastics, weed gaurds usually prevent that for me.

Wind knots - is it the line, the reel or me?
Wind knots, or fluff IS NOT LINE TWIST, it occurs when line comes too fast off the spool and the line behind it catches up to the line in front, creating a tangle between the reel and first eye. Many ways to minimize this, closing the bail manually and tugging as mentioned above will somewhat bandaid the issue, but the root problem is deeper, I wont make this lengthy but if you want more details let me know.

Mann's Jelly Worm
Its fun for me, it's a better aroma than keitechs nasty squid smell, it's like the kvd coffee, it's just nice to smell on a early morning fishing trip

Casting Rod vs Spinning Rod Specific Techniques
Yes, I use large 5000-6000 size reels in open deep water in wind for mackerel off piers in california with 1-3oz all the time, spinning reels also hold up better to salt than conventional due to their closed design. Spinning reels have the ability to fight wind well and cast long distances off beaches with ease. Baitcasters are usually preferred in fw for lmb because of their ability to pitch and land heavy lures softly and accurately near in and around cover, the ability to slow the spool before the lure Lands offers much more control than slowing a lure with a spinning reel. If you are fishing for lmb bass offshore open water With little target able cover (ex. A rockpile, riprap, humps, etc) with a 1-2 oz jig you can fish it with a heavy 4000 spinning or 100 casting and it's a wash. Finally you get into the semantics of line twist vs backlash, flipping a bail vs pushing a button etc etc. Keep it simple, pick your poison, both cons of both reels can be minimized greatly to improve quality of life while fishing.

MLF Bass Pro Tour Angler Disqualified for Rules Violation.
Yes, I remember hearing from a pro somewhere that he unvolintarily had a guy come up to him at a gas station and told him spots, then the organization did a random polygraph test and it came up as him getting outside info.

MLF Bass Pro Tour Angler Disqualified for Rules Violation.
I'll hear the other side of the story as well, this topic has been brought up often in the tournament scene and there is often more to the situation than they let on to keep it short.

Best colors/lures for SoCal
There are small but healthy threadfin populations in many socal resavoirs, although they are not abundant like other places in the country, lots of small minnows, and golden shiners as well. Bluegill and crappie are food sources for bass in the resavoirs here, some more than others, trout are another food source supplement unique to socal. 6.5 roboworm is large, will get less bites but still works well, 4.5 will get more bites which is why I reccomended it to our new member friend. Too keep things short, fish here get pounded heavily, hence my username, smaller natural worms seem to always work well, though quality of fish is not the best, socal is very challenging, it's not like the rest of the country. The learning curve is very high and it was easy to get frustrated starting out bassfishing in socal. Put in time, it will be punishing but you will eventually be rewarded.

Best colors/lures for SoCal
Live in socal as well, generally dirtier water blacks blues purples or bright colors and cleaner water natural greens and baitfish colors as @Bass_Fishing_SoCal said, roboworms do well, multiple ways to rig them, any trick style finesse worm also works very well, 4.5 inch use 2/0 or 1/0 worm hooks, if you can get away with it weightless and mosquito hooks are really good if you can get away with them rigged thru nose r wacky. You can also dropshot or texas rig them, but weightless is often more effective, until the wind comes at least.

Aftermarket spool question
Excellent info! Thanks, I'll look at both for sure, thanks!

Aftermarket spool question
I own an alphas air tw, it's nice and has been serving me well but wanted a really nice aftermarket spool because I just have more cash to spend and want to switch between 2 different line systems. Roro, avail, chameleon, or another brand of decent quality. Even if one may be able to cast a 1 gram lure comfortably, my preference leans more towards a spool that breaks well that can get slightly more distance.
-
“side to side play”
It means the spool moves side to side because the tension is so loose, all reels behave differently, some like more tension less breaks, or visa versa.

T Rig Hookset time
I wouldn't wait, it's not worth waiting for a fewdink to fit it in its mouth if a 4+ blows it out.

straight fluoro OR braid/fc leader: distance? manageable?
Tried to dm u but didn't work, don't want to hijack the forum but are there such things as graphite or carbon spools over aluminum? I would assume there would be challenges with breaking and durability but was just curious if anything like this is on the market for super light spools.

Loving the jdm exchange rate hmm? Waiting a little longer before I pull the trigger, fed is bumping up interest rates soon here at home, should exhasterbate the situation further

Drop Shot Question ???
Line twist is inevitable with spinning tackle. Backlash is common is casting tackle.

have you EVER bought anything significant from a door to door salesperson?
Yes

Circle Hooks
Yes but your hook up ratio will be less In comparison to mosquito style or j hooks. Circle hooks are designed to protect the fish from guthooks, but bass fishing with lures can aid in preventing guthooks. It's commonly used for catfish, carp, rays and skates, bottom eating fish that dead stick a rod.

Tackle box setup
A good mono will work fine floro is not nessesary. I would start with bullet weights, worm hooks 3/0, and some different plastics lizards, stick baits, etc etc. I would not invest a ton into the sport until you Give it a try. Bass fishing can be as simple or complicated as you want to make it, bass can be caught 24/7 year round on plastics if fished correctly. If you have fun you can invest in hard baits. Ditch the box and buy a school backpack and trays
